Experience with Shooting Powder Flower Stimulator?

I bought this product, very expensive... just induced flowering a few days ago. I have read some reviews in which people state it works really well as a flower stimulator so use in the first week of flowering, as well as the last two or three weeks of flowering.

Then I read other reviews that say only to use it at the end... the actual product instructions say to use at the end of flowering (last three weeks increasing dosage as you go)

Also read horror stories of people over-doing it... I currently have my PPM at 600, I usually push my ladies to 1000PPM by mid-late flowering. I don't plan on upping my PPM but should I be especially careful with the Shooting Powder?

Have heard the stuff is a miracle nutrient, but I am curious if any of you guys have used it. I usually use a flower stimulator to start flowering, but it seems this product is for the end only. Any opinions?

I've used it on a blueberry plant for the last three weeks of flowering only. It definately increased the size of the calyxes. To almost bursting I paid £35 for 5 sachets. Only used 3 per crop i would recommend as it increases yeild.

There's a much better option in flower stimulators.

I combine Bud Blood and Big Bud. You start out with the Bud Blood to kind of get a jumpstart for your plants. It helps to stimulate flowering earlier and with more bud sites. Then, you switch to Big Bud and watch them just get fat and heavy. It's a killer 1-2 combo.

I also like to finish up with Overdrive, but it up to you to decide how much flower stimulation you need to be happy with your yields. Me, I can't get too much.

That's good advice right there. That Bud Blood stuff is the best bud stimulator I've ever seen.

Do you use your normal flowering nutes when you use the Bud Blood to begin with? How about Big Bud? Maybe cut down on regular nutes by 30-40% and fill in that PPM with the flowering additives? Something like that?

You have to use regular nutes with the Big Bud, Bud Blood and so on. Those are just additives, they don't have a full range of nutrition in them for the plants just by themselves.

If your plants were a sports car, base nutrients would be gasoline and the additives would be nitrous.

As far as cutting back the base nutrients with Big Bud and the rest... I dunno about that. I don't. I just go by the online calculator they have and that works really well for me.

they are not certified organic, they are a normal hydroponic nutrient, how ever advanced nutrients (which is the creator of bud blood/big bud) does carry a line of organic nutrients

do you guys give the shooting powder for the last three weeks as instructed ? they dont account for flushing time at the end which is weird..it says to use during the last three weeks of flower. i'm using it for weeks 6 and 7 and then flushing for 12-15 days at the end....things lookin good in there!!!

That's true.

I'm not completely convinced by the whole organic thing when it comes to feeding plants anyway. When you look at the stuff the plants actually eat it's broken down to the scale at which organic or inorganic becomes largely moot. You can't tell by looking at a single molecule of water whether it came from the purest source or the sewer. Every water molecule is the same.

Besides, it seems like some of the weird criteria they have for that "organic" label is just silly. "Sorry, you weren't wearing the right kind of shirt when you stirred that. It's no longer organic."

lol this is very true, but organic is taken up by the plant more easily do to it being more natural to the plant. I love organic taste, color and smell is all improved.

Perhaps, but with proper chelation I find that hydroponic formulas can actually exceed the feeding abilities of most organic formulas.

Think about it. Everyone knows you can get better yields with a "inorganic" nutrient than an organic one. That'd only be possible if the plants get more nutrients.

organic generally tastes/smokes better. but i'm sure it also has to do with how the weed was cured.

Synthetic chemicals also contain harmful salts that build up much quicker than organic

That's actually been my experience - properly cured you can't really tell the difference.

And the reason the chemical salts build up quicker is because a lot of companies cut corners on the salts they choose, using cheaper, less soluble salts.

I've actually found it difficult to build up any significant level of salts when I use a premium fert like Advanced Nutrients.

Im not liking Bud Blood from AN, it makes my reservoir all red and murky, and after a few days cause's it it stink. Do you know of any other flowering simulators like Bud Blood from another company?

Yeah, I never heard of using it at the end. Advanced Nutrients calculator says to use it week 1 and nothing else.

McNea it sounds like you got a bacterial or fungal growth at the same time. I haven't had any trouble like that so I'd say its probably coincidence.
