Flower a clone?

I have clones, that from the day I cut them. until right now they are 13 days old. Here are a few pictures of them.

There are 10 of them. And I know that at the most, only 2 of them are female. I used a perminent marker, and it did not stick up to its name. Anyway, I would like to find out as soon as possible, if any of these clones are female, so that I can kill the males, and send the females back into vegg stage, then once they are big enough, Take like 9 clones from them, and leave them as my mothers.

This is my first time working with clones. But I would think that they came from a mature plant, so they have always been mature. And My roots at set and healthy. Also, Are these not showing preflower signs already?

Ok I'm a little lost as to what the marker has to do with this...but first to the best of my knowledge you don't want to take clones from clones. You want to use the clones to flower, and the only purpose to that is if the mother is a known female you know every clone will be too. Clones just take the gamble out of the grow.

Second two options to sexing a plant, throw it into flowering briefly to sex it, then throw it back on a 24 hour light period and it WILL go back into a vegging state. HOWEVER THIS IS EXTREMELY STRESSFUL TO THE PLANT AND CAN EXTEND IT'S GROWING BY 4 WEEKS TO DEAL WITH THE STRESS OF THE DRASTIC LIGHT CHANGING BACK AND FORTH. SO I WOULD DO THIS TO THE MOTHER PLANTS NOT THE CLONES SINCE YOU NEVER ARE GOING TO FLOWER THE MOTHER ANYWAY, IT WON'T MATTER HOW LONG IT TAKES TO RECOUPE FROM THE STRESS.

The secnond method is to take one branch and cover it 12 hours a day and basically force a single branch on the plant to flower.

But those plants aren't ready to be flowered yet, so I don't suggest doing either of those methods yet.

And if you no longer know what clone came from what mother that's easy, just cut more clones and start over and label better next time. Use pot stakes next time.

And no your plants aren't showing signs of preflowering. I forget what the name of those two little thingies (not a technical term) are but those aren't the female pistils, however when preflowers do appear your first signs will be at those junctions near the top, but the pistils or "hairs" will be only about 1/3 the thickness and almost pure white, not green.

And I myself am fairly new to clones, so don't take this as the bible final word, verify what I have said for errors or accuracy.

Hey CHAB...

you should be able to grow these plants for another 5-10 days and then flower them... and then take 4-10 clones from the lower branches while it is in the 2nd week of flower.. you will not need to switch back to the veg stage.... this will work out great as long as your plants are healthy and have great new vigorous growth...

this will also save you time swicthing back and forth between flowering cycles and vegging cycles..

A healthy growing plant can be flowered as long as it has roots... and if all the ther factors are GOOD (lighting, pH, nutrients) you will harvest at least 1 ounce...

In october SeeMoreBuds has a book coming out that shows a plant that was flowered with only 4 nodes and 14 days old from seed.. it was a CFL grow and the plant yields 3 ounces. (BIG NUGS)

here are 3 pictures

picture 1 - the plant is 12 days old from seed germination.. 2 days before it is flowerd.

picture 2 - finished flowering plant

picture 3 - day 29 - 14 days veg, 15 days flower

Thanks for the great help Garden Knowm.
I am going to deside which way to go in about 1 1/2 hours when my plants wake up.

I am either going to do what you are saying. Or pull the one female out of Flowering stage, and make it my perminent mother. I really do not want to do this, even though it will be best in the long run. I am running low on buds from my last harvest. Have enough for a while, but not 2-3 months.

If I take the big single female out of Flowering stage, and put it in veg to be my mother, and then put these clones into flower in 7 days. I would think that they should harvestable in 6-8 weeks. Seeing as they will be fully matured plants. I have read that clones will flower sooner then seeded plants. Is this true?

Ok, Here is what I am doing here. The one odd ball plant I have in a room all by itself looks like a female so far. Little early though. So seeing as if this one is female, and my large one in my flower room is female. I took my clones and put them with my large female in my flower room. I will flower these and kill what males I find. And Hopefully this closet plant that is in the Waterfarm system will be my mother. I really hope that two of the clones are female.

What had happened was, I had 8/10 seeds sprout, I could only fit 7 of them in my hydro system. So I placed the eigth one is soil. It did not do well at all, so after like 2 weeks I bought a waterfarm system. This plant took off very well. From the first 7 plants, I took two clones from 6 of them. and I used the plant stakes to mark which plant each clone came from. BUT,, the perminent marker I used washed off the plant stakes, so now I have no idea which clone came from which plant. Well anyway, Out of those 7 plants in my flower room, it turned out that only one of them is female. So at the very best I will only have 2 females in my clones, and possible, ZERO...

I will be useing those paint pens that will right on most anything, and stay with out washing off..

My last grow was much better on the female to male ratio. 75% ended up being female last time. Where as this time only 14%, unless that closet plant is female,, then it is 25%. Not good. I will be doing my best to stick with clones from here on out.

But you see, in his post. He is talking about germinated seeds, Not cloned plants. This changes a lot of things.

OH BCE, I did mark each plant with plant stakes. But I used a perminent marker on them to put the number of the plant it came from.. When I misted my plants and clones most of them washed off.. There is a product out there. It is a Paint Pen. Does not use ink, uses a special paint. I will get one of these from the iron workers. I know they use them. These things will mark anything,, and stay.

Lemme set ya straight. You *can* take clones from clones..and you can do it from here until doomsday if your strain is healthy and vigorous. A clone is a clone is a clone. If the cut from "mom" is the same plant...a cut from that plant will also be the same as the mom.

FWIW crabnock..I used to keep moms but found it to be a pain in the ass. At some point, the older they get the woodier the cuttings get...and the plant needs to be "cycled" through and a new mom needs to be chosen from the clone stock. Once I did this a few times I realized that I could simply take clones from every plant and have plenty of cuts to continue on with. I also had to have a completely seperate space/light set up for the moms...

I now use that space to FLOWER BUDS. a better usage, IMO.

Well I got lucky. I left my big female plant in flowering stage in hopes that the one plant I had in the other room by itself was female.. wll it turns out it is.. So now I have a mother. Now I only hope that two of these clones are female also.

I took these clones and let them grow until roots showed and flowered them. About 10 days from the cutting. Now they are 4 weeks into flower and I don't know any characteristics of this strain as far as it's flowering period, but if I had to guess I would say that I will get 3/4 oz/plant. I have 6 of them going. Trying to get bud every 2 1/2 months now instead of 4 months (eliminate the veg).

My last grow was only 90 days total. 30 days of veg,, from seeds, and 60 days of flowering.

I got about 2 OZs per plant.. 1.5 OZ of good tight buds, and .5 oz of popcorn buds per plant.

I like this method because I don't have to worry about males. If I decide to do six plants I know that I will get in the neighborhood of 3.75 oz's when it's all done. Basically in 3 months I get smoke. I can realistically get 6 harvests per year or ~25 oz's per year consistantly.

If I go to seeds and vegging I can get much prettier plants no doubt, but I could only harvest 4 times/yr which means that to get the same yield over the course of the year I would have to get a little over 6 oz's each time.

I guess either way works, I just prefer the manageability and faster turnaround. I'm an instant gratification kind of guy, and flowering clones is really fun to watch. They stretch out and grow retardedly fast and start really flowering 3 weeks after they show roots.

My last harvest was only 3 plants. And I got 4.5 OZ's of nice big juicey buds, and another 1.5 OZ's of popcorn buds.

Well, the emergency is all over. I now have at least two females. One is going back into the Veg stage as we speak. The big female is doing very, very well with all this light to herself. I think my yield from her should be very good. I am doing a little LST to her also.

I am going to bend her, curve her. make her groovie.....:peace:

Also very important to note that I am using a 250w light. My setup is very lightweight and simple. It's a closet that turns around a fair amount of bud every few months. It's only 4x2 and stealth.
