Fluorescent light fixture at Wal-Mart for $10.00?

Hey what's up everybody,

So I just came back from picking up some household stuff from wal-mart and came across a shop light fixture for T-8 and T-12 fluorescents for $10.00 and was wondering if this would be alright to grow with and if it is o.k. to grow with, then I was wondering about bulbs, I found the 6500k but the closest to 2700k I came was 3000k, will the 3000k be alright in place of the 2700k?

And obviously for $10.00 there will not be an exhaust fan already equipped or any way to cool the lights.

Will I be ok with a fan blowing on the lights or does anyone have any suggestions to cool the lights?

Thanks ahead of time for all the help!
Peace

nice find.
Use the 6500 for veg and the 3000 for flower.

You should be able to get them right down on the plants since they are fluro's. <Maybe 2-3"'s away from tops.
Fluro's do not put off much heat.
Yeah, just a fan blowing on the tops of the plants and the below the lights then you should be fine.

Where did you find the diff spec bulbs?

You guys don't think there will be a heat issue with these lights since they don't have a exhaust and I plan on using two?

The only draw back I can see using these lights would be the penetration of the canopy.
A sog or scrog would do great with these lights.

Look in the hunting dept I saw an emergency blanket (mylar) last time I was at Wallyworld.
It is folded up in a small clear package.
Did not pay attention to size though.
May need a few of them depending on sq ft.

I recommend the mylar with lower wattage fluro's for sure.

I use the cfl's in a closet.
They get a bit hotter than these fluro's that you are talking about.

I have found leaving my door cracked with a pc fan sucking in air at bottom and a 6" fan blowing air at top seems to keep it 78-82 degrees F.

yeah, get some small fan's.

simulation of intake and ehaust air flow is important.
the plants always need fresh air.

I run the one at the top 24/7 and the pc fan at the bottom is hooked to the light timer and comes on with lights.

Speaking of wal-mart, I saw in the auto department that they had ac/dc clip on osculating 8" fans for about 10 bucks! So if any of you are running a solar set up, this is for you! Very hard to find osculating clip on fans...C
