Back in the early to mid 2000's every county that grew in Northern California had a specialty strain that alot of growers would grow.
Mendocino was purps
Humboldt was OG and Bubba
Trinity was Grape Ape
Chico was Green Crack
And Nevada County was Afgooey.
Since Nevada county was the closest to the Nevada border all that shit went out east. All my friends up there used to grow it. Beautiful plant, had its own smell, super frosty, and produced real well. Sadly, times have changed and u can't find it unless u know some old school guys.
Yep, heavy Goo action on the Ridge in Nevada County back in the day...from what I've heard it suffered from its own success - flooded the market then the next year no one grew it, then the year after that no one anywhere knows where the cut went
I do know that a recently deceased Mendo old timer told me (back in like 2017) that he scored Goo cuts from his time in Nevada County back in like the 90's. Some of those made their way to some fun corners of Mendo and ended up working themselves into the JahGoo lines... and others.
I did see plants from my one buddy in Nevada County who claimed that he and his brother were the only ones to keep cuts of that original Goo from 00's and they had very similar morphology to those that Mr. Mendo Old Timer showed me a few years later. Big wide honking fan leaves, trichomes pushing out 4" - 5" from the colas. Potential to be absolutely huge plants with 10+ lb yields.
Believe exotic retired green ribbon and it hasn't been around for a while. Speaking of exotic i have a pack of the original cookies & cream in my collection I forgot about.
I know someone who has the original Green Ribbon cut waiting to be resurrected....I'll keep ya posted.
