Hash Oil - the real deal

does anyone know how Hash Oil is made or can anyone provide a link? i've searched and searched to the ends of the internet and found nothing useful...

this thread is about Hash Oil, the stuff that comes in little vials and puts you in outer space after a couple hits. it looks like black taffy, smells like an old bowl and hits like the fist of an angry god.

i do not care one bit about butane extractions and just for the record i think anyone who smokes stuff that had commercial butane poured over it is begging to get cancer(s) and die a very unpleasant death. there's plenty of threads about that so let's just keep this one on Oil only, please.

Do a search for iso oil...hash oil...honey oil. Go to Erowid

yer probably looking at an iso extraction since you seem so adamate against butane. With iso you have to do it very QUICKLY to get the purest product. (you can do it twice and the second run will yield a less potent/less tasty but still high-quality product)

I've done both methods of extraction. Both work well. Either way I always double boil the product for about 15 minutes after all of the solvent *appears* to be gone and then I let it sit for a few weeks before using it.

There is also a far more complex extraction method out there that uses ether and a decent amount of knowledge of Chemistry to produce (IMO).

bt dt, erowid has apparently confused honey oil with hash oil, been there, read that. as far as your experience, did you use a retail iso solution (and i'm assuming isopropanol) or something with a stronger concentration/lab grade?

ever heard of using methanol, ethanol?

whatever more complex method you've got, throw it at me. i'm very familiar with chemistry. :)



hardyhar mogie... i want Hash Oil, not benzene rinsate.

i go to a couple of clubs and they pretty much have everything. even purple slurples. but hash oil? i don't know exactly what you mean by that. how is it made?

Yeah..I'm just a hack with rudimentary knowledge 7x. I used butane sourced locally...and I used 91% iso from Wally World.

yeah..I know all about ethanol/methanol but I've never used 'em.

I actually like water extraction or sifted/pressed trichs w/no solvents/crap in it the best.

The process I remember was ether extraction...do a search...there's a buncha stuff out there.....

thanks bt dt, if i find something good i'll put it here and maybe follow up with my own results/method. i'll look up this ether method too.

fdd, i have no idea how it's made. i've heard bits about pressure cookers and methanol but i really don't know. i will waste a few ozs experimenting if i have to but hopefully i can find something to build on...


mogie, it's just like i said. it looks like black taffy, kind of has a deep deep green - barely perceptible - if you spread it on something white. the only thing i can compare it to is resin from a pipe except it's perfectly clean and pure.

we would dip a paper clip in and let a small blob of it fall onto a charcoal incense burner then hit the smoke with a straw or pen. i had very high tolerance back then but it was like a wrecking ball after 2 hits.

Yeah they sell it by where i live in little crack viles lol.
You heat up the bottom of the vile and drop a couple drops in your blunt and your gone for a while.
I'll ask around how to make it

sorry roseman..I think he's looking for something more complex...

I know of the oil you speak of. My friend in HS in about '75 had a 100ml bottle of it....and he DROPPED it in the hall at school! I wish had a pic of that morn...everyone who had a pack of Zags was sticking papers in the stuff and mopping it up. (they got the majority up easily..although it had glass in it until reheated/strained out)

From what I can discern, *true* hash oil is made from heating hashish and squeezing out the oils present. (a solvent-less process).

We saw 3 types of oil in the 70's where I was at. The black "hash oil", and the red "honey oil"..and "isomizer" oil. The hash oil was a cough fit *for sure*. The honey oil was very spacey/trippy stuff. I assume it was made via a solvent extraction process...but I have no way of knowing. The isomerizer oil was never very good, IMO. I think it kept the leaf in contact with the isoprophlly too long..resulting in a green/black goo that had varying effects and usually a nasty/harsh taste.

anyway...enough war stories... good luck 7x. I'll be interested to see if you can track this all down and find what you are looking for.

i think i know what you speak of. i went to pick up a buddy a few years back. he was sitting on a white plush couch with white shorts and a white t-shirt. he had i paper clip , a vial of black goo, and papers spread with it everywhere. i thought he was going to stain everything. he cleaned it all up and put it away and there was not a drop anywhere.

i have some books. i'll go research it. brb.
