question about plant height

I'm new to growing weed, but I've been a gardner for years. Why do I see some compact plants, grown under flouros; and some taller plants grown under lights such as HID and HPS?

BTW, I'm using 300W, 150W incandesent and 40W flouro for 2 plants, and they seem to be doing well. I'm only growing for own personal use; and my plants seem to be thriving, is this norml?

hey tenn..

incandescent lights are useless.. they just make HEAT.... Fluorescent, Metal Halide, High Pressure Sodium and LED lighting are what you want...

cheers ..

glad to have you on board!!

i don't think they are doing anything.. it is the fluorescents that are doing the work.. : )

post a picture... I would guess that you have severe strecthing.. meaning that the nodes are far apart.... if you get 300 watts of fluorescents you will notice a tremendous change.. cheers

yep. go to Home Depot and get this stuff in a green bottle called GARDEN SAFE FUNGICIDE. WORKS GREAT

I used that garden safe fungicide too. It's not bad...you got to keep it on a scheduled spraying to eliminate them as fast as possible..since its "Garden Safe" its not as powerful as some other killers so you wont get rid of the problem 1st use or anything but it works well over a small period of scheduled sprays.

im growing indoor for my own personal use and im about two weeks into flowering and i started getting these little black flies popping up. i went to home depot and all i could find was garden safe rose and flower insect spray. is this ok? or will it burn my plant? i dont have any other bugs just these black flies that look like gnats.

Does that come in a darkish green bottle?? jw bc i think i know the one your talking about and ive used it for the same problem i had a few grows ago...you got to stay on a good spray plan to get them to all go away...i found that just spraying one time and killing the ones you see doesnt work you got to spray the soil say every day maybe 2x a day for a week or so to kill all the ones breeding underneath you cant see

P.S. try not to drench the leaves if you happen to spray them and dont douse the soil in it either...ive never seen my plant take a bad effect to the insect spray but if you give it a whole bunch i think it would hurt it in some way

to answer the original question, you will see small compact plant under cfl and fluoros because the grower is forced to keep the plant shorter. this type of lighting does not penetrate very far so to get bushy plant growth with a fixed amount of watts the best thing to do is keep the plant small. HIDs can penetrate the much further into the canopy so you can grow larger bushier plants with them.

the incandescents that youre using are only heating up your grow space. the light is very inefficient and the plants wont get anything from it.

Neem Oil will make that problem go away along with over 200+ insects.... white flies and black flies die from that shit and its 100 percent safe to your plants even to soak them....
