Haya guys!

I have been reading about COBs for quite a wile now.. (or actually i was a wile back and just tried to catch up with it again)
And my mind is dazzeling a bit..
Although i have had some education in electronics I have a bit of a pian in selecting the right setup..
Grow space would be someting like 4x4.
I want as much light as is reasonalbly possible in such area..
My initial plan was to get someting like the following..
4x Citizen CLU058 1825 3500k
On 2x meanwell hlg-240h-2100b
Or maybe for a bit more spread
8x Cree cxb3590 3000k and 3500k
On 2x meanwell hlg-240h-1750b
Not shure yet but this is what i figured out so far..
I could probably go bigger but dont really
Know what the sweet spot will be..
Im planning a rdwc grow so wont be possible to move the plants around..
Also its gonna be a allround grow space aswell. From seed(or clone)2 weed..
At least for now..
I planning to dim my lights anyway, so al little overkill would be sweet when needed.
I also read about wiring cobs parallel but cant really onderstand how that works out and what the adventage would be/ where that choice would come from..

So that would be all my questions for now i guess ;p

Long story shot please help me get the most bang for my bud!
(Budget not realy set..and not in a hurry)
What would you guys get?!
10000x thanks in advance!

I ruI run 12 cobs in a 4.5'4.5' tent for a total output of 720-750 watts. Lol old tech tho Cree cxb3590's 3500k. They rock my space just fine. I recently purchased some quantum board 120s 3000k (8) boards 4 boards to 1 meanwell 240-2100b for another 4'x4' tent for around 520 watts. Can't wait to get em up and running.

Cob,Quarum boards or strips will suit you just fine. With the latter two being more up to date and a tad bit more efficient with lower cost...WIN WIN!!! Good luck!

Thanks for the quick reply!
I have been reading about COB's for a wile now.. heard about quantum boards and strips in the vague background but that seems like a whole different story..
And to be honest i like the badass look of a COB fixture

There are cheaper just as efficient cobs as the Cree 3590's. Luminous is one that comes to mind. 16 cobs @1 per square foot would rock your 4x4 tent. Just a matter of how hard you want to run them. Will determine driver selections.

:mrgreen:As hard as possible!
I dont realy care about efficiency that much..
Just want to pull as much of dem sticky stuff out of that space as possible..
I might look in to quantum or strips at some point tho..

Similarly I came here wanting to build a COB build , left with a strip one. Strips and QB's are more up to date and aren't much different to cobs.

I have no idea where i should begin to look up to those..
I just want a banger of a light!
The more the better!

So these strips might do just the trick..
Anyone that can point me in a direction?
Or a what to buy wher list would be sweet as well..
Although that might be asking to be spoon fed a bit to much:mrgreen:

Ok so I've been looking at the link from led gardener..
It seem that a 4x4 grow space isn't the most practical footprint to iluminate with these led strips.. also cost wise there isn't that much of a different.
Plus those samsung strips are not avialable over here(not on eBay or Ali at least)
Also 90cri for citizen leds is a pain to source as well:-(

So im hanging between 8x cxb3950 on 2 hlg240h-c1750b or 8x citizen 1818 on 2 hlg320-c1400b..
Hi there I see you have a plan. I’m using 25 cxb3590 and 5 hlg240 1400b in a 5x5 room and they are really good but imho now days are better options out there for the price of 8 Cree chips.

Good luck and happy growing

Hey
Can't understant how a 4x4 tent should be hard to be illuminated with strips.
Strips come in 1-2-4ft lenght, If you make two 2x4ft fixtures you would be rocking a 4x4 tent.
Arrow now offers DDP shipping and you receive the package at your door without the customs hassle.

Dunno why someone should get cxb3590 in 2018

Those BXEB-L0560Z-35E2000-C-B3 are 56cm and my grow space is going to be 120cm2 so with a frame to mount them on thats going to be a problem..
I will look in to it a bit more..
Nothing is fixed yet, so i might be able to build around the light..

???
There is no reason to make one single giant frame but I am probably missing something.
With 2 frames you can adjust the height on your needs + easier to handle due to lower weight
two 60x120cm frame, obviously you will mount strips parallel to the 60cm side if using 560mm version

Btw I would probably use samsung strips instead of bxeb, wiring that many strips would be a pita (bxeb user here)

So what im now looking at is..
2 x 60x120 panels containing the following:
24x BXEB-L0560Z-35E2000-C-B3
On 2 hlg-240h-c20b
This is a setup i copy pasted from ledgardener..
But it seems the dude is more in to growing veggies.. im in to growing weed so.. maybe a bit more light wouldn't hurt..
So 2 15 bar riggs would be my second choice..(like the 3x3 setup on this site times 2)
Or maybe 26.. But i not yet looked up what drivers to get then..
Im starting to see what the appeal to these strips about.. you can get crazy coverage with these babies i guess!
