Deficient or Toxicity

yea my tap water PH is extremely high for some reason. So if I mix 1/3 tap to RO it shoots the PH way high.
I'd just use your RO. IMHO.
That sounds like a lot of carbonates the municipal is using to buffer the local water.
It can't just be lime. They're adding carbonates for sure. It'll build up, and snowball in your media after a while.

I don't like the sound of your tap water TBH :peace:

yea me either I haven't been using it.. that's why I have been using mostly distilled or R/O with added calmag. on a lower dosage. usually about 3.75ml. If I do use it I make sure my PPM is about 200 PPM or lower.

Just thought I might mention, when feeding full strength, in intervals according to the directions on the fertilizer, never pour this solution directly on the base of the plant, or the plant, always pour around the outer edge of the root base.

This may not be a problem but just thought I should mention. I haven't grown in soil since the eighties.

During spring run off towns increase the amount of substance to the town water. These other growers may be correct about using this town water. Seems to me, in spring time, I had to go to an independent well in one small town. The smell of (like chlorine) was overwhelming, but most of the year the town water was fine.

The quality of the water used is very important.

Okay I flushed them. I put 1 1/2 gallon of water with a PPM of 200 and a PH of 6.5 through there and let it all drain out. The plant in question had a PPM of 800+ and a ph of 6.4 coming out at first. I dropped this ppm down to around 370 by the end of the flush. The other plant had an even higher PPM of around 930, I brought it down to around 400 ppm by the end of the flush. I then added 1/4 strength Foliage Pro to 1/2 gallon of water and added half to each plant at the end of the flush bringing the PPM back up to around 425 for this plant and around 411 for my other plant. I will keep update progress in a couple days.

I started a grow journal and have been pretty closely documenting everything the last week. Figure it will only help with increasing my grow potential.

Also if you guys were wondering what was in my water here is a report. Omitted my city for personal reasons.

Problem seems to be spreading upward a little bit to some more leaves. I think I'm just going to continue watering without nutrients, that is what was working and I went ahead and fucked it up by adding them lol. See if that stops it from spreading anymore. It has to be a toxicity of some sort.

It takes at least 3 days to see any improvement. Likely longer.

A little update. The plant seems to have stopped throwing out any more rusty spots. The leafs with the spots ended up yellowing, shriveling, and then dying off. But there isn't any new yellowing or leaves with brown spots other than the few that were already there. Also the other plant doesn't seem to have been affected, at least not as much for sure. I do have one question. There is one cola on the plant that looks extremely crazy. Seems like it has 4-5 nodes all in just the top half inch or so. Was wondering if this is normal. It looks pretty cool. Ridiculously big.

I know I'm a little late to the party. How's your grow going? I think the issue you experienced was similar to my own...FFOF feeds for a while but I'm betting you waited too long to give them their first feed. That's what I figure I experienced. When you can visually see most deficiencies, especially soil grows, the deficiency has already been present for a while. Just out of curiosity, do you happen to remember exactly how long it was after their first feed that you started seeing problems?

I waited 6 weeks until my first feed, but I was still in veg at that point, and that was too long. 7 Gallon containers. My girls did what yours did after I fed them, continued to lose the leaves already affected, but all new growth and unaffected current growth was fine. Next grow I'm going to start feeding them a lot earlier in smaller amounts. Your issue was probably compounded by the fact that your plants were going through their flower stretch. They require a good deal of nutrients to support all that fast growth.

Additionally, I spoke with a FF agent a few weeks ago and she specifically said that FFOF tends to lack potassium towards the end of 4 weeks, which is compatible with your suspicions of there being a K deficiency. If you want to post an update I'd appreciate it, as we're growing in similar conditions.

What's the deal with that one bud you mentioned that looks like it has a super high leaf to bud ratio? I was thinking it could be early foxtailing but that is just a complete guess and also based off a few of the leaf tips looked light burned.

Cheers

I think that may have been the issue as well, I did wait a while to feed. That or my ph meter wasn't calibrated properly and the ph dipped too low, but i checked it with another and it looked fine. I recalibrated both meters after that to be sure. The problem seemed to have went away up until last water and I think it's because they need to be fed at full strength (was doing half strength) but they look pretty nice.
The bud with the super close internodes I dont think is foxtailing. It just looks like it stayed short and didnt stretch up, but grew a shot ton of nodes right there.. if I could upload a pic I would but its fucked atm.

May be late to the game but looks like too much Magnesium has locked out your calcium. Either that or you just need more calcium. Side note you have a mutant called a polyploid. clone it. I find it strange though that it is only one branch doing this. Is this the main terminal bud?

I dont know lol it just showed up. Yea it's one of the 2 nodes where I topped it. How would I go a little out cloning it.

Maybe it isn't what I was thinking it was but polyploid have an extra set of chromosome, so I would think the whole plant would be that way. Maybe this far into it, you could just plan on reveg that branch after harvest if you think it is something worth keeping.

You didn't spill any colchicine on it did you? That is how you induced polyploid in plants but it happens naturally too.

Reveg it and then clone it after that or? it being only one branch what would I do with it? Sorry still fairly new to all this.

It will be hard to clone it this late into flower, so reveging it after harvest will allow you to take cuttings that will root much easier. Again if the quality isn't there I wouldn't bother, but you don't see that everyday (I never have), and polyploid always makes larger fruit than diploid will. You may find it is not a good quality for a plant to have, but IMO its worth taking a cutting in case you decide after harvest that it is.
