Ay man I fucked up and need some constructive criticism

I mostly agree with rkymtnman

I don't like RW, it stays too wet and we tend to over water at the worst time, when there are hardly any roots. That alone makes the plant vulnerable. I use Farmers Pride coco pellets. Once roots come out I put each into a 3"? net pot and side fill with polished stones> into a diy bubbler cover with a dome

A neutral- warm white led works fine for starting as well as a warm white cfl

Adding insult to injury is full strength nutrients. Keep it around ~ 0.25 EC (1/4 strength) and use an eye dropper

if you are sticking with DWC, here is what you do...
1. soak Rapid Rooter or Rockwool in RO or Distilled watter.
2. place seed in the rapid rooter
3. place rapid rooter in humidity dome, or synthesize this
4. after seedling pops out, place under Floros, does NOT need much light
5. after roots extend out of bottom and sides of Rapid rooter, place in DWC.
1. Noted

3.Are u putting the rooter on the humidity dome tray bare or are u placing it in something. ie Beer cup, ice tray, etc etc?
4.so how long do u place them under the light, 12hrs, 18 hrs etc?
5.With the roots oozing out the sides and bottom of the rooter, do u place it in the mesh basket and THEN add the hydroton or vice versa?

Once they have a good set of roots in a rooter then you put them in your net pot and fill it with balls. I like to let my clones/seedlings get big enough that they are well out of the net pot when I put them in DWC. Loading two tubs today with clones.

18hours of light unless you want them to start flowering right away then go with 12.

Starting mine at 300ppm then will add more nutes to the tubs as the plants get a bit bigger and have good roots growing into the nutrients. So after a week to 10 days will boost the nutes to 500 or so then go up as they get bigger. I only do a complete change of the nutes after the stretch then feed them the Lucas Formula way with bloom boosters.

50 or so tubs in the last 16 years so I kind of have it all worked out. :)

:peace:

Yea, you put the rapid rooter in the tray under the dome.
You will put them under 18-24 hours of light. Maintain whatever light cycle you will be using for veg. I do 20-4.
After the roots emerge from sides. Put rapid rooter in net put, then gently pour the cleaned hydroton around and over the rapid rooter. Make sure your rapid rooter is dry though :)

Do it JUST before you water it. So transplant then immediately water it <3

Just to recap because I just reuped on equipment today and about to the plan in action:

I'm putting the seed in rooter.

Putting the rooter in the humidity dome

Putting the humidity dome in complete darkness until the seedling emerges

After seedling has emerged put under CFL 18-24 hrs until roots oozing out the bottom and sides

Put in dwc bucket system, surround with hydroton

1/4 strength nutes til the plant gets bigger and stronger

Dim lights as much as possible until the plant matures

be a bit cautious in this stage. it usually takes 24 to 48 hours for the seeds to pop(for me at least) and sometimes the taproot will stick up, not down. gently re-arrange the seedling so it's pointing down. after it grows to maybe an inch or two, i like to rip off a small piece of rooter and wedge it in the hole so the seedling doesn't move around and pop out of the rooter

Will do. And one thing I struggle with is not waiting until the seed has FULLY popped, I usually wait til it cracks just a little bit and have a 'ah what the hell' attitude and put it under the CFL
Speaking of which, when under the CFL is the dome supposed to be on,or is that creating too much humidity

the more humidity the better for the tiny ones.

once they get the first set of true leaves, i don't worry too much about it.

Look I have the perfect solution to your problem. Buy a blue lab guardian and a blue lab handheld. The extra meter is to ensure perfect ph. Hydro is hard on newbies because ph is the major downfall for growers. It takes money to make money.

What about this little badboy, I just put it under a CFL so should it still be under the humidity dome? (I have a heating mat under the dome)
As u can see its browning a bit so I'm not sure what might be causing that IMG_20180224_125128.jpgIMG_20180224_125104.jpg

At this point, it no longer needs a dome. It has a root, just make sure to keep it moist. (Not wet, and do not let it dry out either.)

If you can cover up the little hole, that has the fuzzy root growing, so that the root can be in the dark, that would be good to.

Do you know the humidity and temp right beside the seedling?

66% humidity
77 degrees (F)
And should it be getting 24hr CFL lighting

You a sales dude for Blu-Lab or what?

How you going to check the pH of that sprout? Shove the probe up it's asshole or under the armpit?

FOAD already.

you running 24/0 or soemthing else? i'd recommend it. no stretching during lights off.
Yeap, light was on all yesterday. I wanna believe it's bending cause I had a fan blowing DIRECTLY on the seedling like a noob the entire 24 hrs as well. But say that is the reason, how long will it be before more leaves start forming
I have two more seeds and two root riots soaking in pH adjusted water just in case.
