Trump cuts Food Stamps

I don't want to get in between the discussion you and UB and AC are having, but I wanted to simply point out that the vast majority of food stamp recipients are working class poor. As in, they work for a wage, not a living. They are trying, but because of the vast differences between the poor, middle and upper classes, they continue to struggle and require assistance in the form of food stamps.

Knowing that, I'd argue that you (and Drumpf) are generalizing by stating that most food stamp recipients are lazy crack addicts or alcoholics.

hashtag, just sayin
It's ok, he's not a sensitive snowflake who will cry just because someone disagrees with him or finds his views offensive.

UBI works in the places it has been tried.

We should try it.

Give people a certain amount every month, if they want to work on top of it then fine, but there would be absolutely no room left for bitching on either side of the aisle.

T-Pain would be proud!

but this way trump can choose which of his friends in the food supplies biz gets to benefit from a government contract. and isn;t that what america is all about?
some people take those unwanted cans from food bank back to retailer in exchange for other items or a gift card.

Only if they pick it. I ain't picking beans for nobody except myself.
I see your point. Some people will accept charity when they are perfectly capable of helping themselves. How I approach this is, if somebody is physically unable to do much, or in desperate circumstances it's usually a gift. If somebody can help in some way, I ask / accept their help and/ or barter with them. Of course no food has to be wasted, if you have chickens, they'll turn excess produce into eggs, meat and fertilizer.

hey mr. chemtrails!

you gotta be pretty happy about this whole cutting food stamps and health care thing trump is doing. after all, you hate the poor. amirite?

:lol:

About how much of your time is spent doing actual charity for people that you have determined could use it and why do you think it's okay to force other people to help those they've determined they'd prefer not to?

Hating or loving "the poor" fails to see those people as individuals, some who might be good people and some might be lazy ignorant slobs. Do you offer your couch and a hot meal to lazy ignorant slobs or do you discriminate and help those you think might appreciate it? Or does the badman have first dibs on your couch?

well wait a sec..the news said it was going to be food box delivery service like Blue Apron..surely you'll get the whole month in one box?:lol:

trumps most 'let them eat cake' moment to date..an awesome idea if there were no limitation on benefit. $200 doesn't go far unless you eat Ramen everyday.

this does take away freedom of choice though- a lockstep in the wrong direction..next thing you know they'll want to start drug testing recipients or maybe tattoo their benefits number on their left forearm:wink:

Increase food stamps to the needy

hand out free:

soda pop=$357.7 million
candy,- $96.2 million
coffee=$82.3 million
cake= $68.2 million
water=$77 million

maybe parents could then afford to buy good food for their children?

That's a very telling chart.

If governments didn't warehouse people in projects and "let" them homestead land which government claims to own, maybe people could work on feeding themselves? Treating people like children, rather than like people capable of helping themselves if given a hand up. keeps them in a perpetual cycle of dependence and poverty.

Maybe that is your sense of privilege talking. Maybe they are just ticking by. It is nice to prepare nice food if you have a fridge to keep it so you don't have to buy micro portions at an extra markup.
It is nice to prepare food if you have an oven. The reason African Americans and other minority groups like to eat or buy chicken is that it is some of the cheapest protein they can feed their families with, already prepared.

The soda and sweets is a source of carbohydrates (the most ecological if I may add, just not healty) many would not survive without.

Exactly.
If you control what the questions are allowed to be, the answers are less important.
if you control which candidates are allowed to run?..if you allow FB to filter your content under guise of 'personalization' and 'individuality'?

If I stopped working, trading my hours for dollars, I started to become hungry and the heat was off. When there was no work I moved to cheaper living and more employment. Took much longer to accept than it it did to understand.
I figure a half a billion dollars worth of extra food stamps handed out to the needy, along with the items I mentioned for free...might actually do some good. I cant imagine being a human against that policy. Maybe no nukes for a year or something....
Food stamps should not purchase soda and candy bars before toothpaste and toilet paper,
I know, be nice to have a toilet to shit in right......:P

I agree mate, they spend trillions on bullshit, you are talking small change.
We have to return the right to dignity and all its facets to the people.
It appears we have lost the where with all to succeed at such a task many years ago.
I agree, and believe the whole food stamp program is peanuts, but hey, makes for big convo in the riu right
