I messed around and got another year older guys. Not sure how this keeps happening. 57 for me this time around.

Happy one Larry, another one down, just turned 57 in November myself. Every year is a win for me, I was supposed to kick it about 9 years ago (stage 4 cancer), even had the "get your stuff in order" conversation with the oncologist. Every day I wake up it's a great day :)

Just thought I'd chime it too, coming up on 62 soon (but I don't look a day over 48, lol). Started growing up in Alaska when I was 19 - well 17 if you count my first attempt in my parents attic, almost made it to flower when my Dad peeked in my closet one day (never did find out why) and saw the extension cord going through the access panel, lol).

I remember getting all my info from "The Marijuana Growers Handbook" or maybe it was "The Complete Guide to Growing Marijuana" - as I recall it wasn't a big book or really technical at all, but I'll never forget the bit about how to increase the potency of your weed by making "black merta", lol, that takes me back, good times ;?D

Yeah, thinking about it just now I went to search to see if a copy was available anywhere, couldn't find anything that looked like the copy I had, but "The Complete Guide to Growing Marijuana" looks familiar.

Does yours have a reference to increasing the potency of average weed by making "black merta"? The reason that sticks in my memory bank is because I remember trying this with a pound of Mexican dirt weed - the instructions said to moisten it, then bury it in a cool dark place for a week, and I was smoking Crooks Rum-Soaked cigars at the time and I thought that might be cool to make my weed taste like that, so instead of water, I poured a pint of cherry brandy on it and put it in the crawlspace.

When I pulled it out over a week later, it was almost black in color, covered in a light whispy gray mold and smelled nice but was pretty much unsmokable, although I sure gave it the old college try.o_O Now when people tell me they're afraid of smoking moldy weed I just laugh, cuz I know that shit won't hurt you... ;?D

i realize that every generation thinks the next generation is a bunch of morons that listen to stupid music, wear stupid clothes, and think up new words for shit we did when we were their age, think they thought up something new, and that makes them smarter than us......
but previous generations didn't have social media to deal with, didn't have reality tv teaching kids exactly the opposite of what they ought to be learning. didn't have kids that grew up with internet porn.......and exposure to things they shouldn't be exposed to till they're adults.
i really do think that society is crumbling, and not just in the grumbling way my grampa did. i think people with good values and good sense are the rarity, not the rule. i think generations of politically correct, socially conscious, liberal professors in colleges have helped raise progressively more entitled, worthless, lazy, and stupid generations of children. i think hollywood has contributed, getting rid of heroes and spotlighting the "anti hero"......the ONLY company making decent kids movies is Disney, and i'm not sure about them. the music industry is guilty as well, doing their best to glorify the "thug life".......
i'm not a bible thumping christian, i'm not a prude, i'm not anhedonic......but fucking christ, people, i really think we're watching the beginning of the crumbling of western civilization.
young adults today don't believe in anything, have no faith in anything, the only ambition they have is to make a lot of money, and most of them seem willing to do evil shit to get it......Breaking bad was a good show.....about a fucking criminal....not a hero....
sorry for the rant, but the point is true, i think we're present for the fall of the empire

Well I am a Progressive Liberal , My 19 year old son is at College this morning , he is taking 3 exams today, and is getting accepted int the Radiography program ,, earning straight A's ,,, My daughter 23 is a police officer and is now the Lead female gaurd at the jail house,, i would say grouping all young people into your sterotype is unwarrented,,
in fact most of the young people in my extended family are lawyers and doctors, business men ,,,
Personally I am religious and I see whats happening to society is going exactly as GOD said it would in the book of revalations,, hows that for a head spin,, a progressive liberal who reads his bible hahahahaha

i know there are good people out there, trying to raise good kids, and some of them are succeeding, but for every one trying, it seems like there are 9 that just don't give a damn, don't watch their kids, don't want the responsibility, and honestly, aren't responsible enough to supervise themselves, much less a child

Funny, you sound exactly like my parents generation. Dirty hippies are ruining everything.

They were wrong and so are you,

I want to thank Roger for taking the time. You were correct on every point, from my perspective.
(I am thinking that Tim is Blessed with Good Luck and I like that just fine)

I heard the Western World summed up wisely not too long ago:

1. Judeo-Christian Ethics
2. Greco-Roman Philosophy
3. Anglo-Saxon Law

I am heartened to see that we are at least starting to talk about where we are headed.

...and, yes, our Culture needs to be taken back. :0)

P.S. Rome spent Centuries falling....as long as the responsible among us Man The Walls,
we will have a future together.

P.P.S. Just try to drawup the plans for the alternate...for what is to follow...and you will
come to appreciate the fact that we are where we are as the result of Millennia of our
working hard on these very problems.
