If you have any DIY ability @CobKits is who you need to talk to. For 3-400$ you can build a Kick ass light
When you say DIY abilities, what does that entail. I have no experience with electricity, or electrical components. It’s one thing I’ve never messed with. I can figure stuff out pretty quick, but I don’t want too much margin for error. I don’t want to end up with a pile of wires that cost me $300... but I’m down to trying it out.
I was going to go with http://timbergrowlights.com/model-2vl/
But I don’t know if that’s enough wattage for my area.

You said supplement. What do you want the light to do? There is something to be said about things that are "turn key". Turn key is costly. The link you sent me is 299$ I paid less and got much more light. To answer your question....
You'll need
Drill bits, saw, soldering iron, heat shrink tubing in assorted sizes. Drill or drill press. Wire stripper .
I installed an on/off switch and remote dimmer.... Don't do that, more work that isn't needed. Use a HLG driver that has the dimming knob built in. Tons of videos to help you. But you won't go wrong with a turn key setup. You'll just spend more. That light you sent me, NOT NEAR BIG ENOUGH

Does anyone have recommendations for “turn key” lights? I guess I probably need at least another 400w
Sorry can't help you there, I do own a Vipar 600 and two MARS300's . I don't know much about the higher end models, except it is much cheaper to build a great light than to buy one. Good luck in your search, my Chinese lights are good but not near my DIY, it kicks ass

I think @CobKits is going to set me up with something at a nice price. I’ll just take a chance with assembly. If there are resources out there with instructions, I’m sure I can figure it out. Should I get the rail systems @Dave455 recomended?

Dont ask, "whats the best light out there", ask "whats the best light for MY purpose"

LEDs have worked for me so far, on my very small grow. Understand, though LEDs have worked for me so far, HIDs seem to have better penetration, intensity, and are cheaper. Also, know that most LED configurations dont provide all the spectrums you need; its best to supplement with something else. And they are only cost effective for small personal grows. If you tried to do a large grow you would spend a small fortune!

But, i like what ive seen so far. and the technology will only improve from here.

I compare the LED backlash to the L4 backlash a few years back. When i first got a 4 cylinder car, all the V8 people laughed, and said economy cars suck ass. its not as fast, true, but its the RIGHT VEHICLE FOR MY PURPOSE. People say its not the best car, but it works, and cheaply, so its the best car for me. Those V8 people stopped laughing when gas hit 4 bucks a gallon. HID users will come around eventually. remember the first 4 cylinders to hit the market? They sucked! Now there are some bad ass cars that are gas sipping L4s! Give it time, have faith.

What LED Lights are you using and what is your grow space, if you don't mind my asking?

I am growing in a 2x2x5, 3 plants, using 600W LED. I am having a problem with the tent running hot. Any suggestions?

I am using a 600W LED grow tent, 2x2x5. I have 3 plants in veg. The specs said it could be done, but temps are too hot. Any suggestions?
Its probably not a 600w but just named that like a lot of them are. If you tell us the name or post a link I will have a look at what your actually running.
With a 2x2 you really only need 135 real watts if the LEDs are very efficient.
Obviously you still need to extract hot air and exchange it for cooler air by way of a good fan.
But tell us more about your light and set up and i will try to help.

Wondering if you guys can help me out? Making a small cob unit for my aquarium and want to run 2 cobs on it. Citi 1212 clu048. Would an hlg-60h-c700 be a good choice?

I'd like to keep it under 100wand it doesn't need a very strong current, I'm not growing cannabis with it just keeping my aquarium plants happy.

Will that work for what I want? And that will put me around 70w total correct?

I have not had time to look at the specifications on that driver but I don't think it will work you need at least 72 V forward voltage to start those carbs

I will post some pics of the girls shortly. I have a Meizhi 600 light for this project. It was suggested I consider adding HPS lights as well. What wattage or how many?

Ok from what I can see the actual wattage is 275w on those meizhi lights. So if your running a bit hot you can either increase your air flow with a good extractor fan. Circulate more air with small fans. Or change to a better light for that space.
A HLG 130w kit will cover that 2x2 perfect. That will half your wattage and your lighting will be great. Half your wattage equals half your heat.
Do you run a extractor fan at the moment? If so what size?

I would not be adding a HPS if you cant manage the heat from the LED you have.

Can you tell me where I could acquire that?
