Dwc beginner. Looking for advice/pointers

Do that and you can run at 72-75 all day long.
So for me there was a little more at stake than just trying to increase DO by using a water chiller. You see, even more over pythium, many algaes love temps over 72 degrees.

You can wart off most pythium and algae with more oxygen, the problem is that algae loves oxygen just as much as your plants roots, so if algae does get any kind of foot hold in your reservoir, then pumping more oxygen in there is actually just breeding something for you plant to compete with. Ideal water temps, no matter the DO, keeps the perfect harmonious balance. That waterfarm bucket I have above, it lets light through, major mistake on general hydroponics part. If algae was to take off because I was running 75 degrees combined with light penetration, then it won't matter the amount of DO in the water, however change that temp to 67.5 and even with a little light penetration you won't have any algae problems

There is a pearl white to my roots that was never there before on and off my other DWC setups. I've had setups side by side that cannot compete with a chiller and this is with h2o2 going in, doing reservoir changes to get the h2o2 out and replace it with sm90 or hydro guard, or whatever as a temporary reservoir fix. I don't use any of it anymore. No hydro guard, no peroxide, no sm90, no temporary fixes, just a simple submersible pump, some hose and the chiller. Plant growth has changed substantially and I have watched plants in soil, Coco and dwc and never witnessed the growth rates that I do with a chiller......

Now granted, I have never tried NFT or any aeroponics, so can it get greater, I'm sure it can, but in "DWC" I have never found water temperature substitutes.

Also, I have gotten one plant to produce almost a pound at 78 degrees water temps, so I know this is possible, however, I feel that same plant if kept at 68 degrees the whole time would have had a better yield by over an ounce, that's just my opinion, and I'm talking maintaining those temps over the life of the grow so it's not like you can drop a frozen bottle of water into the reservoir every day.

Month in the system all is well.... for now :)

Weird i have a folgers can sitting with a clone in it and i didnt change it for a while and nothing gross.
Not light proof and i imagine the temps arw close to the same

But my rockwool is algae city lol

How many times did you top this plant? Also what pump is that :bigjoint:?
I topped that plant no less than ten times, but I never counted so I can't give you an exact number, but I topped it allot. It was also super cropped in ten to fifteen different places and it's weaved into a bungee scrog. A hopeful harvest date before feb 25th, I hope it doesn't run into March lol. I've counted about 100 colas but even that's difficult, I loose count to easy. This particular tent is only a 2x4. If you guys can get a count on the colas then let me know because its too frustrating lol

I can't remember the brand name of the pump but I know it's 950 gal/hr

im thinking about doing something similar with 2 or 3 plants, but only topping them like 3-5 times each.. IF that. whats your opinion on that? Beautiful plant btw... super jealous.

So I never set out with a certain number of times in mind on how much I was going to top. Even after it was in the scrog, if I had part of the plant where i wanted 1 to split to 2, then i topped it.

There is one simple scrog tequnique that I use to get a plant to look like that, I don't view the scrog as a "cola holder". I weave and under tuck that plant through the whole scrog.

On my next grow, im going to try and scrog to the point that there are no colas, only golf ball buds that cover the entire top of the scrog.

I want it to produce 1lb and be less than 1ft tall. This last plant got away from me a little and has gotten up to 14" :cuss::cuss:
But this next one won't get away from me :hump:

any advice on the height a 1 tier scrog for maybe 2 plants needs to be above plant?
No advice, it literally can be whatever you want it to be, that's it.

If you want to do one 4' above the growing medium then do one that high, if you wanna do one 1' above the growing medium then do one that high. You make the plant grow where you want it, not the other way around. Just keep your lights in mind when choosing a scrog height.

My grow room is only 68.5" tall, I can only fit 5' tents in there, so I have adopted a "low and wide" growing mentality, but this is what works for me. Different spaces call for different techniques.

i only got 5' tall tent, low and wide is the way for me!

A foot is doable but I'd start 18" and you should be able to push your scrog down a bit at a time after flip or late into veg. The extra space to start will give easier access to remove the stuff that doesnt reach the canopy, access to buckets, etc...
