Thanks Random, hey Prawn Connery, I have not updated this thread for a bit as we have the board undergoing some redesign, we have decided to drop it back to 48V and will use 3030 leds instead of 5630, new LM301B from Samsung is better than 561C and there are a lot of new products coming in 3030, so more development in that platform, also we are developing a dedicated 3 channel dimmer to run the boards so does not help you out today, but hope to have these finished by next week and have built stock mid Oct
Cheers

The current issue and I expect others are experiencing it is that the absolute best flux are not available, they offer a generic code and you will likely get a mix of flux bins, including the best 220LPW bins, seems an odd way to offer product but thats Samsung, we will be looking to start with 3000, 3500 and 4000k bins

Don't know if I like the green background color. After all. White is more reflective. But if the board is more efficient. Then I guess it doesn't matter what color the pcb is.

board will be white, green stuff is early render

'Board gone to shit' whoah, normally people play with my boards awhile before the realise their shit:confused:
561C is ok ,but more dev going to 3030 in my view, why did Samsung release LM301B, Cree J series.
SS Rev 2 will have its own 3 channel dimmer boards so can be driven from Cheaper CV drivers
Veg board will have new XD16 just released this week as well as mid power, the board is going to have so many possible permutations on a single platform, its a DIY Dream, more to come Im out
Cheers

for us readers that aren't LED experts, can you give a brief summary of what exactly a sol skin board is? looking at earlier pages, it seems that it's a mix of 3K, 4K, 5K and "'red". i have a 3x4 flower room that currently has 6 citi 1212 3K at 80 watts per cob. would this board be a replacement for the cobs or more of an addition and supplement?? does it take one driver, multi drivers, etc? does it need a heatsink?

thanks!

A SolSkin board is more or less the same as a Quantum- or Fantom-Board but with different LED's.
The latest generation use the 3030 footprint while other currently available boards are still using 5630 footprint.
3030 is widely used and there are more different brands to choose from(Nichia, Philips, Cree, Bridgelux, ..).
In the case of Samsung, for example, this means that you can use the currently brightest mid-power LED on this boards, which means up to 220lm/w are possible (4.000k/CRI80).
These boards are typically a stand alone unit but can be combinated with COB's, strips, mono's or what ever you want.
If you want to control the channels separately you need either a LED controller like HurricaneX or separate drivers for each channel.
If you want to use it's full potential a heatsink is required.

I'm not @welight and I'm by far not an expert, but nontheless I hope that answers your questions. Basically, all information comes from this thread, however, the info's are scattered and you would have to read the whole thread.

Randoms assessment is pretty well on the money, the key change and reason for the rev was the development of the driver PCB with 3 built in pots, we wanted to make the driving of the board as simple as possible, will have all the details of this in the re-release docs soon

thank you. well explained. and the far red is only used at the end of lights ON to put them to sleep faster? hence the hurricane x that you mentioned?

You can use it for End of Day treatment or thru the whole day if you want. If you want more stretch for example...
But one have to use it wisely because too much can trigger SAS(shade avoidance syndrome)!
As @welight mentioned above the new boards comes with an on-board driver and separate dimmable channels. No need for an LED controller. I don't know if they are remotely dimmable or manually but I'm sure he will provide us with all the new specs as soon as they are ready.
