It' all about experimenting with the cheapo Epistars - to see for myself - what happeñs
I've ordered 2 of those 385nm 10 watt Epileds, couple of weeks to arrive so I'll swap out the 410nm maybe.
I must look into the reptisun type tubes with the uvb but it'll probably be after Christmas now unless I get one as a Christmas pressy.... lol
I'l see if I can get a pic or 2 later
I did that experiment too. I have drilled and tapped so many holes I should change my name to DT, lol
I went with everlight for my UVA. They only come one reels so I had to depend on a supplier to work with the vendor to get a smaller quantity than a reel. lol
I mount my drivers remotely.for heat issues. I use 18 gauge two conductor wire, usually security cable for that purpose and a couple of spade connectors or wagos, whatever I have around. I have found food makes bigger budz plus the right combination of light. The Red/Blue ratio has to be correct to encourage growth, which is why I developed the Red/Blue two channel board..

LOL! I can not even count how many M2 and M3 taps have already broken off with the cordless screwdriver. Without a drill press it is a pain in the ass to make such small holes ...
And about your driver mounting concept,
if you need the heat inside your room mount the driver on the heatsink, if it's already warm enough mount it outside.
Can it be that the plant with 410nm has smaller leaves and everything looks a little smaller? Color of the leaves should also be a bit darker, if I remember correctly, because I've also driven the combination 3500k + 420nm + 660nm.
Would be nice to see some pictures.
Find it in veg very useful, but in flower they need only a little although it has positive effects to the resin and terpene formation.

At my new lights I renounce 420nm, because I will use UV-B tubes in the future. They cover the entire blue area very well and make the 420nm LED's superfluous.
The is the reason I have started making kits with pcb's mounted t the heat sink for both the GrowGreen 200w boards and the new DR/RB and FR/UVA boards, was just for this reason to help others. I just got some fresh taps in too. I have a shop but most of it is in storage due to my divorce a few years ago, but I have equipment, a lot of equipment, enough to build motorcycles. My girlfriend lets me do what I want unlike my ex-wife. I just have to find a place to set up my motorcycle shop with my equipment, drill presses, welders, etc. right now I took over my girlfriends spare bedroom for my shop. she is a jewel, a diamond, priceless.

Maybe a subtle difference?
The plant under the gg board has bigger buds but the plant with the added blue n red has more Brown hairs.
Just what I see, my observations.

The second pic looks a lot frostier to me, but it could just be the way the light is hitting the trichomes.

I've often thought that it could be the light reflected we see under the different spectrums although when I moved them into daylight and looked at them there is a difference.
I'l do another run with the same plant under the 410nm + 660nm to see what happens next time.
I had the lights about 15/16" away at the start and ramped light up around middle of week 5 by lowering lights to around a foot away.
I think I've all the bases covered re light spectrum and cri.
UVB 385nm is next on the agenda.
Without building a Lab - there is none in these parts - to test the plants to see if there' a difference in the THC , CBD etc I suppose it' all just conjecture anyway but it's nice to play about with different light recipes.... i think lol

Wow, nice little girl! What do you think does SS2 do better than her mother? Better or worse than SS1?
Luc knows what he is doing, but the SS1 is really hard to improve and was one of my all-time favorites. SS2 not tested till know but looks impressive.

There's a small group of us growers that share stuff, clones , seeds etc.
One of my friends cousins, a newbie bought a packet of Sensi Star seeds 10 years ago and needed a bit of help with grow. My friend got a couple of cuts and we've had it ever since. He just touched lucky.
As they say here , it's the dogs ballicks lol.
So it's so good another friend got more seeds but they didn't compare, then we all ended up with a mix of SS. Luckily the original one is easy to ID. It throws a variegated leaf along its length now and again. Light green on one side, normal green on other... if that makes sense + it's smell is in a league of its own.
The original Sensi Star can be a bit finicky with nutes, seems as though it dooesnt like too much N as compared to other plants.
The plant in pics above is from another batch of SS seeds from Paradise bought a year or so ago. I was given them to try out and I like it's structure, it doesn't fall over half as much at end of flower as the branches are sturdier.
But if people here were given a choice for a bag o weed they all want a piece of the 10 year cut of the Original.
I haven't got it now as I've no room at mo.... I've been given Shantibabas CBD Crews CBD Critical Mass seeds to try out.
Wish I still had my big grow area with 12 x 660 watt hps's and a selection of cheapo leds but I'm semi retired now - handed the reigns over to a good friend.
Sorry for rambling on but to answer your question SS Original 10 Year cut beats everything in these parts. :lol:

That is some nice growth you have there. easy peasy it seems. I love the long colas you are getting. That SS is sure a nice producer. It looks tasty as all. No larfy budz for you. nice grow.

Here are the new boards two channels of deep red wired in series with an lpc-100-1050 driver. Royal blue two channels each with an lpc-60-1050 driver. Far Red one channel with a lpc-60-1050 driver. One UVA 385nm channel with an lpc-35-700 driver.

Will a strip of UVB cover a 2ft x 2ft area?
Can you run the uvb for 12hrs on the plants or will that be too much exposure?

The plant I had under the gg boards + extra 2 x 10 watts 410nm leds produced frostier buds with smaller leaves, less yeild and woodier stems from what I can see.

I have been experimenting with GG boards.
I used a 120H-C1050B driver, wired both channels in parallel for 100w 92v and over 190lm/w.

My plan is to run these boards with 100w 120h drivers for higher lumens and lower amps. The parallel configuration runs at 1.05a 120v 100w two boards 200w 2.1a.
If you have some of these GG boards I would recommend trying this setup.

If you have two GG boards, you can wire two channels in parallel on boards one and two and wire the two boards in series to a HLG-185H-C1050B driver for the same result, running two boards at 100w each at 87ma hitting close to 200lm/w. My PAR meter is out for repair, so I have to wait to measure the difference, but I believe, it is significant compared to running channels in series.

A couple of hangers I took off a chinee light I'd lying around, 12ft of cable and 3 pin plug I salvaged off a single cxb 50 watter and we're ready to rock.

Unfortunately I have no measuring devices to hand as I've lent out my kilowatt meter and I'm awaiting the par meter.
I have wound the meanwell HLG 185h C1050A driver down to min 525mA for now.
That should produce a phenomenal amount of ....... Light!

Quite Parful as you can see.
A nice even spread without any reflection.
I did a quick check on my flowering plants in the "Fattening" room and disovered
I was a bit too close with the lights. 1300 - 1500 reading.
I also found I was vegging at 900 .
Tis a great tool to have!
