Small ACMPR Grow #2 “The Pheno Hunt”.

So when the seedlings first came up I noticed that the cotyledons on one of the Blue Harley’s, pheno #5 to be exact had very prominent light yellow stripes. It looked like it had almost been bleached. I figured that since the seedling was in new dirt that it wasn’t a nutrient issue and it was under a cfl at the time so it couldn’t be burnt from the lighting.

I figured it must be a genetic thing that would probably disappear once the true leaves came in but that’s not the case. The new leaves are doing the same thing! Yellow/faded patches are on all the new leaves as soon as they develop. I’m not overly worried about it but I’m just curious to see where this goes.

It almost looks like parts of the leaves just can’t make chlorophyll. It also looks like the yellow patches are growing slower than the green parts of the leaves. I have never seen this before. It has me scratching my head.

Here is a picture. Sorry for the quality. I’ll get some better pics up in a couple days.

Maybe tobacco mosaic virus or a genetic fluke of some sort ? Keep it going and see what it does .
Yeah, I’m too curious to just pull it and toss it away. I don’t imagine the lack of chlorophyll will help it in the yield department any but it could make for some interesting smoke if the chlorophyll is in fact reduced significantly in the final product. I guess we will just have to wait and see what it does.

Interesting, I have that trait/mutation on my Blue Ripper x Blue Dream (the original HSO Blue Dream mother had this mutation), just a couple of leaves per plant that do that. The pheno I have (keeper) from that cross is the frostiest in my garden and heavy punch, possibly the strongest strain I have going. Have never seen any bad effects on that plant other than the mutated colouring on the 1 or 2 leaves every grow (clones always have it too).

Thing is, the Blue Harley is Blue Ripper (M) x Harlequin (F) and I've never seen that on any phenos of either strain. So you have a little freak but I wouldn't worry about it, that Blue Ripper x Blue Dream is fire and grows normally.

Keep it. I have an OG Kush that is doing something similar and I looked it up and came up with TMV which seems to be October/Novembers flavor of the month lol. IT is still not confirmed if TMV affects cannabis, what we have going on here is some kinda DNA or gene damage. TMV spreads to other plants and I have not seen this happen at all.

The OG Kush is repeating the symptom on higher leaves on the same side of the plant but it almost skips every other node and it barely noticeable with all the other leaves . This one branched very nice with an even canopy by 4 weeks, so far my best "bushy" plant.

This morning I moved my light a little closer to the plants and switched from 24hrs to 18/6. They are growing pretty good for the most part however there is the one with yellow in the leaves but it is starting to fill out like the others but there is another Blue Harley that is stunted I think. It probably happened from the over watering but who knows.

The others are all doing great the Blue Rippers are growing quite quickly and I think these are going to be beautiful plants.

I fed them 250ppm of Greenleaf Mega Crop this morning and I will be bringing that up to about 700ppm over the next couple is weeks for Veg and then I’ll bump it up to about 800-850 for flowering.

The Mega Crop is potent stuff! I mixed a table spoon in my mix bucket and it shot up to 1700ppm with a little over a gallon of water. It took quite a bit more water to get it down to 250ppm. This stuff looks legit and but smells awful. Lol. But now it’s up to Mega Crop to show me what it can do. I’m hoping this stuff works because the ease of only mixing one product compared to most other multi part nutrients is awesome.

Looks good! Yeah that BH 3 is quite stunted but never give up!!

How bad is the MC smell? Like if I watered ten 5 gallon pots would my tent be smelling like a dead whale every time I open it?

It’s not that bad after it’s mixed up. Just concentrated compared to the bottled nutrients I have used in the past.

Ok so for the most part things are going pretty smoothly now. The plants have been growing and are branching out nicely. The Mega Crop is keeping them nice and green with no nutrient deficiencies that I can spot.

Here is a group shot of them all.

Here are the two Blue Rippers. They are my best looking and growing plants at the moment.

Here are the Blue Ripper x Blue Pyramid. They are a little smaller then the Blue Rippers but look very healthy and happy.

As for the Blue Harley, there are two that seem to be doing pretty well. One of the healthy BH plants is showing slight signs of albino issues on the occasional leaf but nothing too drastic.

Here are pics of the best two Blue Pyramids.

#2, notice the albino issue on the leaf.

Although I am happy with most of the plants I am deeply concerned about three of the other plants. The three are all Blue Harley’s and all three are showing different undesirable traits from each other.

The first one has substantial albino issues but it has really picked up the pace growing and could avoid the axe if it keeps up its current growth spurt. I am very curious to see how this plant grows out with it’s albino issues.

BH #5

The second is an issue that started at the third node where the top became deformed and growth has substantially slowed. I fear this plant might get the axe if things don’t correct themselves soon.

BH #4

The third and last issue is pretty bad. The plant topped itself and the leaves look horribly disfigured. This plant will get the axe. I just haven’t been able to give up on it but it won’t be around much longer as it will never amount to anything substantial.

Looking good but really surprised on how many (albino) mutants you got, specially that one although it looks healthy other than the colouring. The one BH3 looks like it was dipped in acid

Yeah the albinos don’t really bother me too much. To be honest I really want BH #5 to be a female as I think the lack of chlorophyll could let the terpenes come through but I could also be completely wrong on that assumption and it could taste awful. Lol.

As for BH #3, I honestly don’t know what went on there. It’s a pretty sad little thing though.

Yeah I'd run that #5, other than the mutant leaves, it looks alright. Weird that it came through on that cross, haven't seen it in any of the lines. But it looks like the one I do have it in, the Blue Ripper x Blue Dream, that one frost up like it's painted on, you never know...

That #3 looks like it has some kind of fungus or something, weird looking, doesn't even look like MJ

The two Blue Rippers are by far the nicest plants in the room at the moment (Tallest and busiest).
image.jpg

The Blue Rippers are followed by the two Blue Ripper x Blue Pyramid’s. The BRxBP’s are in smaller pots than the rest and are slightly smaller than the BR’s but are still very nice looking plants. I like them a lot.
image.jpg

Lastly the Blue Harley, it was the only strain that I got all five seeds to grow into plants but unfortunately I think a couple of them never fully recovered from the overwatering they got a couple weeks ago. BH #3 was so horribly disfigured that I had no choice but to pull it.

Now there are four BH left and #4 just doesn’t seem to be keeping up to the rest and is considerably shorter with some disfigured leaves on one side. I’m hoping that the plant will out grow this but I’m kinda doubtful that it will ever catch back up to the others.
image.jpg

However of the five BH there are three that are still doing pretty good. Two of them have what I’ve been calling slight albino issues. The one plant (BH #2) only has it on parts of a couple leaves but the other (BH #5) has quite a few leaves that are half white and half light green and all the remaining leaves on the plant are quite a bit lighter in colour than the leaves on all the other plants in the room.

I am curious to see how BH #5 turns out. It could be a freaky keeper.

So over the past 10 or 12 days I have been feeding the plants Greenleaf Nutrients “Mega Crop” and have slowly been upping the ppm. Last night I fed them a full strength recommend dosage of 600ppm and the plants love it!

The Mega Crop seems to be doing just as well if not better than the more expensive multi part liquid nutrients that I have used in the past. The plants aren’t showing any signs of deficiencies or nutrient burn and are growing more vigorously with each feeding. I just hope it can do the same in the flowering stage. But so far I’m pretty impressed with this product.

You too with the collapsed lung eh. My right one has done that twice now. Last time was a couple years back. Still smoking those g-damned cigs tho.
That's terrible, I don't want to go through that again.
God damn I had 3 different chest tubes that week.

BH #4 is not out growing it’s trait where it grows good on one side of the plant but all deformed on the other side. It keeps falling further and further behind the others in the tent and since I am looking for potential mother plants and I can pretty much guarantee this one won’t make the cut so I am removing it from the grow room.
