Hey Everyone,
I’ve been posting for a while, but I’m just getting into shrooms. Had my 1st successful grow of GTs n Ecuador’s. I’m moving forward n looking to grow truffles. I hear they like whole grain oats as opposed to rye berries. I was wondering, what is the cook n PC time on the oats? Would it be the same as the rye berries? I appreciate all feedback, cause yes, I am n noob at this, but eager to learn all the species teks involved. I’m currently waiting for pan-jams to colonize, which will be my 2 grow. Still having a ball with the cubes, but I’m looking for visuals! Lol. Also, I’m trying to perfect my agar tek, so any help there would be awesome as well. Thank you all in advance!

yea 90 minutes is the go-to for full sterilization.
Thank you for being the 1st 2 holla back at me @psychedelicdaddi. Got another question if ya don’t mind... Spore prints... Do you hydrate n use them immediately, or is there a waiting period? Do you have any experience with the “truffle king” variety? I also noc’d up a few jars with PE6 n I’ve never seen myc take off so fast! It’s been about a week n already it’s fluffy white down the sides where the solution landed. Definitely looking forward to see what’s up with this one. Thankx for responding again!

Hey pplz!
Just dropping a line or 2 to let ya know what’s going on. So, I’m treating whole oats the same way or similar to the way the rye berries are done. I allowed the oats to soak overnite, but I don’t think it was a full 24 hrs. Something about the oats makes me think that it can’t handle the same type of treatment as the berries, so I didn’t cook it for 15-20 mins, but I did bring it to a boil for about 5 mins n I also added a couple of tablespoons of gypsum. I haven’t PC’d yet, but I’m using the 1 pint wide mouth jars. Was thinking of making a couple of agar jars using the ‘Ball’ Elite series, half pint jars. (I think! Lol) Gonna try n get about 6-7 pint jars n hopefully 4-5 of the agar jars, all into the PC at once. Most likely I will wait til the am to actually open the PC n noc up all the jars with the Galindoi n see what transpires. Wish me luck! Lol. BTW, if anybody is interested, here’s a pic of the Ball Elite jars that are perfect for agar twerk.. Lil wider than actual Petri dishes, but obviously reusable, n in my eyes, that makes them worth their weight in gold!

Hey everyone!
So, recently I’ve been trying my hand at making agar jars instead of Petri dishes n for the most part, they came out awesome. My only problem is that once I PC’d the jars which had the agar n stuff already in it, lids was were replaced with tyvek from the post office n covered with foil n held in place wit rubber band. My problem is that I have moisture or water inside the jar n I don’t want to put anything inside the agar with the water that’s in it. I plan on going to my lab where the air is being cleaned n filtered with a lil hepa action n it’s sealed off. Thinking bout opening up all the jars n removing the water prior to trying to noc up or use the jars. Any comments or help would be appreciated on how or what I should do to remove the water. Thank you all in advance n best of luck to all on any project ya working on!

Thankx @farmerfischer....
I’m starting to see n learn that it’s definitely a pain in the ass! Lol. I’m using the Ball elite series collection that has 4oz. jars I believe. If you look into the jars, they’re pretty much the same as a Petri dish, but it has more surface area for you mycelium to spread n grow. I’m not one to give up, so once I’ve got it beat/mastered, I will definitely be posting the info for all 2 share. I’m just beginning n starting out, so I lack a lot of equipment that is necessary for success. Main thing, I don’t have a flowhood,SAB, or GB, so I’m just working in a sterile n enclosed environment. Honestly, I believe the sterile tek is where it’s at. As long as your practice sterile teks all the way thru, success should be easy. I’ve only had about 5 jars tam out on me outta like 36 so far, so I’m thinking I’m not doing to bad! Well, as the title of this thread goes, I’m about to try my hand in truffles n see what I get. Recently did the oats in the PC n I’m just slacking now on hydrating the spores. Think I need to make some LC as well, just to preserve the strains that I feel are hard to come by such as the chicon nindo n the galindoi. I just wanna take my time n not jump into it n ruin it. Thankx for responding farmer n I wish you the best of luck as well! I’ve seen your pics n your kicking major ass I might add. Keep up the awesome work!

Hello all... Once again!.....
So, I just got finish getting all sterile n crap. Took a antibacterial shower, put on my full zoot suit, n all the precautions necessary. For added protection, I also use a couple of uvc lights in hope to kill any germs or unwanted bacteria that may be lurking. I scan the needle up n down as well as the jars b4 attempting to noc’em up n also use the light in between noc’n the jars as well. As I said b4, I try not 2 fail n when I do, I try 2 not let it be cause of something that I did or didn’t do. So, with that being said, I’ve noc’d 6 pint jars with whole oats in them n 2 agar jars with just a drop in each. To overcome my problem with the water that was in the jars, I sat in front of the oven with the temp on like 375 in hopes to kill any germs that may be lingering. I then opened the jars, emptied the water right into the oven, turned upside down for a few n then covered the jars back. Just incase anyone didn’t know, the oven method has been used by many, b4 all these expensive n serious gadgets had come along n made the whole mycology scene a lil bit easier. So, for those like myself who don’t have funds at their disposal, look up n try the oven tek. It definitely works n you can get away with it as far as trying to kill all the unwanted. I won’t lie, it’s pretty tedious, but in my case, I need all the help in the world n the lil cheats that I can do, works wonders! So, you won’t hear me mention the truffle king strain for like a month or 2, unless something miraculous happens, like fast growing mycelium n then I will have something 2 report. 2 moro I was thinking of hydrating my 2nd chicon nindo print n noc up a few jars n try to do a LC with the mutispore syringe once it’s ready. Wish a dude luck! Lol. Thankx for listening as always n if there’s ever anything I can do as far as advice wise or other, feel free 2 ask. Stay awesome pplz n each one teach one!
