dosing and cooking time for cannabis coconut oil

Hi,

I'm about to make some cannabis coconut oil to help a buddy who has a lung cancer.

There are a lot of recipes like :

- http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-make-cannabis-coconut-oil-canna-oil/
- https://www.leafly.com/news/food-travel-sex/recipe-how-to-make-cannabis-cooking-oil
- https://herb.co/recipes/cannabis-coconut-oil/
- https://www.royalqueenseeds.com/blog-how-to-make-cannabis-infused-coconut-oil-capsules-n274
and of course many more.
https://www.royalqueenseeds.com/blog-how-to-make-cannabis-infused-coconut-oil-capsules-n274
but with a lot of variations in dosage and cooking time :

- dosage for 200g / 7oz coconut oil varies from 7g / 1/4oz to 56g / 2oz. This seems low for someone supposed to take 1g of oil a day !?

Questions :
Did anyone made stronger oil and how strong ?
I can add water to the coconut oil to cover the cannabis, right ?
Is there a maximum of water I can add or can I add as much as I want ?
Is it possible to make it as strong as 1g cannabis oil in 4g of coconut oil ? (as you take 1g of oil a day, that would be 4 capsules)

- cooking time varies from 45mins to 24 hours

Question:
how long do you cook your oil ?

And finally would you add lecithin ?

Thanks and have a nice day !

30 mins dry decarb @80-100C then 100g of trim to 500g of coco butter, heated with a teaspoon of water which boils and acts as a thermometer, heated @ 80-100c in just the oil for 30 mins then 1 litre of water added and simmered @ 80-90c for 2-16 hrs I aim for 16. This gives a decent half teaspoon dose strength. If you need stronger I advise using recovered coco butter to wash a second mash of fresh trim, I have gone to 3 x making the final extract 600g/1000g and dark like black hash.

I tried just using flower with coconut oil and found it inconsistent for dosing. If you don't mind one extra step, sift works much better and is much more consistent for dosing. It's concentrated of course so the recipe is slightly different. I've found decarbing sift I add a little time, usually 40 minutes @250. Attaching the recipe I use for that if you're interested in going that route, easy to adjust the dosage as needed, explained in the document.

Hi @GroErr,

right !

Do you make dry sift ?

Thanks bro !
That half-full mason jar is my medicine sift jar. 90% of what I grow gets sifted then used for caps & edibles, sometimes I'll smoke a bit, heavy stuff as it's just trichs. I settled on using sift with the coco oil caps as my primary medicine, take them daily to maintain my clean bill of health (lymphoma).

I also think it's much better as a medicine because we don't know exactly which cannabinoids or even terpenes mixed with them provide the most benefit. What I call a plant profile, the totality of all cannabinoids/terpenes in a strain/pheno. With sift, I mix all my strains for my cancer meds in one bucket, CBD strains separately (just because I can use CBD for different purposes, like when I can't get high but need CBS meds for like a migraine), I can also and do mix that in but keep the CBD stuff separate.

By mixing several strains (like that jar contains a mix of 10 strains), I get a much wider profile of cannabinoids and terpenes which is more likely to provide benefits imo. It also makes for killer smoke when mixed, like a whole new super-strain :eyesmoke:

I recently posted these links below in my thread, I found this combo of sieves and catch trays super handy and no back pain leaning over a screen. You can just run your sift while sitting on the couch with your feet up. For less than $50 you can have a nice clean and effective sifting setup. I use the 80 mesh/177 micron for medibles, more than clean enough and very decent yields, like 17% in my last run with this Sieve setup.

No access to such things here, everything illegal, a miracle I found good cannabis and not even a home for growing.

So your cooking time is 40mins, right ?

Thanks !

Yes, I've been using 40 minutes for both the decarb and cook times. The sift typically has some moisture so I'm finding the 40 minute decarb better and stronger.
