Man, that is how life is supposed to be lived!

Just looking at those photos give me a very relaxed feeling, the grandeur of nature somehow relieves anxiety.

Same with clear night skies.

Great thread!

Don't waste your money on Bud Factor X- it's just epsom salt!

Try the hand trimmer on buds you've allowed to get mostly dry. I bet it works better.

Gorgeous plants and scenery.

I was born in Alberta, but didn't get to stay... I think I was in Germany by the time I was 4 months old lol Army brat.

Can't wait to see what you do next, old man!

Me neither. Picked up a CO2 controller, (USCO2 Grozone Monitor), 1000W MH/Hps ballast, 2 Super HPS bulbs, huge 6" x 24" 600 CFM carbon filter, commercial 1300gph air pump now aerating my dugout until I get the new grow space ready. Four new strains to try tho sticking with what I got growing now to get the boat a-rockin' and a few extras to keep it all together.

Got to take the old dog to the vet today and not sure he's coming home tho the cocobudder I've dosed him heavy with the last couple days has him chasing sticks outside with me longer than I can chase him. lol

Getting a full 70lb tank of CO2 from a shop close to the vets but won't need it for a month or so once I get rid of the thrips and flower out my CBD girls. Tons of cutting sites grew in my 3 week absence so I'll have lots of clones soon enough.

Bought some beans too. 4 new seed strains. 3 Crop King 5 packs. Original Skunk, Afghani, and good old Blueberry. 1 - 10 pack of Green Spirit from Jordan of the Islands. All regular seeds so some interesting crosses in my future.

New grow journal to follow. happydance.gif

For this no likes you get.

Magnesium Nitrate is not Epsom Salts, (Magnesium Sulfate), and what about the crustaceans, glucosamine, propitiatory bloom enhancing plant extract and 0.6% Willow Bark Extract?

Got 3 buddies online that swear by it so with my free 500ml sample and identical clones I'll be the judge whether it's worth buying or not as I did with Bud Ignitor on my last grow and found it lacking.

The experiment will be in my new journal for public view as are all my grows.

Cassini hits Saturn today. Watch some real news or get online to view it!

They changed the formula. Now it's only half epsom... Not sure what the rest will do. In any case, I'm a big fan of dry nutrient salts, been using them for years.

I'm a big fan of AN nutes but not so much about their high priced supplements.

Unless I see a noticeable difference with the X it won't be on the menu when it runs out.

I should point out that I'm a bit of a lazy old fart so just the fact that I never have to deal with pH is a big plus. I'll soon be running four tubs in flowering with a couple more standing by in veg to replace the ripe ones when they come out. All will be separate from the others so not having to monitor pH will save a lot of time and effort. PPMs can go a week between testing so that's not too onerous.

Not knocking your choice but I don't adjust pH either and I spend pennies per gallon of nutrient solution.

Also, I know exactly what is and isn't in my nutes.

I'm interested in getting away from General Hydroponics and Botanicare products.

Which do you use?
https://hydro-gardens.com/product/hydroponic-special-formula-25lbs-bag-5-11-26/

This, along with a couple of additional nutrient double salts like calcium nitrate, magnesium sulfate (epsom salt) and monopotassium phosphate (MKP).

These are the very same dry nutes that commercial greenhouses use for everything from tomatoes to lettuce.

That 25lb bag above? At 3 grams per gallon in your ready to use nutrient solution, that's 11,340g/3=3780 gallons. At $51 for the bag, that's about 1.34 cents.

Add calcium nitrate ($38 for a 50lb bag) at 2g per gallon, just a third of a penny.

Epsom salt is similarly affordable and available through the folks above or in any grocery store pharmacy section or drug store.

Grand total? Maybe 2 cents per gallon of plant ready nutrient solution.

It doesn't have ground up dead bug shells (chitosan), unlabeled PGRs, preservatives or emulsifiers. It's easy to mix and of course by varying the ratios you can custom tailor your nutrient profile to strain preference and life cycle stage.

I saved the best for last; MKP
Mad Farmer brand MOAB 0-52-32 (mother of all blooms) booster is $56 for 8oz, and it's straight MKP, though they're nice enough to add a lil banana fragrance.

From the above website, $13.95 buys a 5lb box, which at a gram or less per gallon during a few weeks in flower might last the hobbyist grower the rest of their lifetime.

Fuck ALL those water bottle nutrient ripoff artists! Especially Advanced Nutrients, one of the owners of whom was indicted for sodomizing a lil girl a few years back. No, can't make this up...

That's what I've been wondering about doing. Getting a solid base and add up from there, the only thing missing is sulfuric acid and potassium hydroxide.

I was looking at Roots Organics, but I'm more familiar with making a concentrated solution from the dry and using that.

Sulfuric acid is available lots of places. Even battery acid at the auto parts store. Phosphoric acid works, too.

I'm guessing potassium hydroxide is pH up? You'll need precious little of that, they almost always need pH down if anything.

Not going to get into a debate about nutes or who may have hurt a child.

AN makes good nutes and I don't even have to think about them to use them. Your president is proud about grabbing pussy so some kettle calling the pot black going on here.

I'll grow 20 grand worth of pot from $300 worth of nutes and not have to mess around so that works for me. Did the basic salts nute thing back in '82 and not interested unless I go big time which is unlikely as pot soon won't be worth growing to make a living unless you go huge.

It's a hobby that keeps me and a few friends in meds cheap and that's about the limit for me.

Getting into mainly CBD strains now and just growing regular to keep a few stoners happy and keep the lights shining.

To each their own. pass.gif

Some like blue, some like red.

We can be purple or Red vs. Blue, which is actually a hilarious spoof.

An update about new shit going on other than the mess in my grow room. :)

I got up at 6:30 yesterday morning to drive my buddy to the city for a upper gastric barium test for 10am then managed to hook up with the buddy that gave me the OG clones last Dec to see if he had any more but alas he had none. We went out to his greenhouse to check out some sad looking plants in there where the temp was 30F and he had 6 plants in various stages of near death. He was just going to see what happened to them but expected them to die before there was much on them tho all are starting to flower. We're down to about 12/12 light up here now.

I said that's a sad end to them so he said. You want them? Hell yeah I said, how much? Take 'em he replied. Anyway I went back to town with my buddy and scored some big contractor garbage bags and filled the trunk of my little Chevy with them and stuck them in the spare bedroom to acclimatize and will scope them out tomorrow.

2 Critical Kush, a Chem Dog and 3 un-named Sativa/who knows what but supposedly from killer bud from one of his friends. I'm going to scope them for bugs and do what I can to get rid of them but suspect one at least has mites. I'll be taking clones but can re-pot them now and keep flowering going in the bedroom so they don't infect my downstairs plants that have just thrips atm. Should have some to crop in about 6 weeks from the CK and maybe the CD.

NewClones01.jpg
Check out the plant on the far right for the roots hanging out of the bottom of the pot. It had outgrown the pot and had roots deep in the ground and he just shoveled it out and shook off the dirt before we stuffed it in the bag.

NewClones02.jpg

He also has a shitload of seeds and one I wanted when I was out in BC but couldn't find is the legendary AK47. Fem seeds tho from Canuckseeds that cost him $18 each so I gave him $60 for 3 beans and will attempt to get male pollen from them using colloidal silver that I make myself and make lots more fem seeds plus I want to cross it with my Otto#1 CBD girl. He gave me a bunch of other seeds for free that are [(Northern Lights x Purple Indica) x Bubble Gum]. Untested but all the parents were supposedly non-hermie adults and should prove to be an interesting cross with funky phenos.

His wife of almost 30 years has come down with breast cancer and had been using RSO for months before the diagnosis and as they are pretty broke I've promised him as much RSO as she needs tho they have enough for a while. Once you are on the path to curing cancer with it you should never have a break or the cure may not work. I happen to have a pound and a half of mixed strain old sugar trim, ground pot from trim and bud that I've sieved for kief that I was going to use to make hash with but as my wife and I have to go back there for her eye appt in a couple weeks I'll be dropping off at least 10g of RSO made to the specs he wants for her. And told him to never think twice about calling me up if she needs more.

Too me. This kind of sharing is what pot is all about.

Update time!

Got fed up with those buggy plants and culled the bunch today.

Kept one of the ChemDawg and the Critical Kush just because they are so well known and award winning strains. But like the one No-Name sativas my buddy gave me I chopped them back harshly and if they survive re-vegging Ill take clones off them and trash the mothers as their rootballs are full of spider mites and eggs.

The plant that is from 30 year old seed was the best of the no-name sativas so she will survive for a while. Chopped her right back too and she was the only one to be putting out single leaf blades indicating that she is already in re-veg mode! Note the spider mite damage all over the leaves!

NewPlantsReVeg34.jpg

I got what will likely be about a 1/4oz of dry, fluffy bud off her while trimming her down for the re-veg. The stank of her was too good to just toss her out like I did with 4 of the 7.

One of the two ChemDawgs was uglier than the other and had what looked like some serious stem-rot fungus going on so I kept the top buds for later sampling and trashed the plant. The other one looked better so I saved the buds and hacked her down for re-veg. If the buds float my boat I'll take cuttings off her if she makes it.

The Critical Kush was the biggest of the lot but I damn near killed her by going on a 4-day bender and forgetting to water any of my plants. She survived that and is now chopped back and waiting for re-veg under 20/4 light. Got about an eighth worth of top bud off her to test.

Here thy are now with the No-name 30 year sativa on the left then the ChemDawg with the Critical Kush on the right. Ugly as f**k eh. lol

NewPlantsReVeg01.jpg

Just want to get some cuttings then the moms go into the compost.

New shit is on the way too.

Soaked 3 beans each of Crop King BlueBerry and Original Skunk along with 3 AK47 fem seeds from CanukSeeds two days ago. All were sunk before 24 hours with the AK being the first and also the first to have all 3 cracked in 16-17 hours when only one of the OS was cracked just before planting at hour 23. The last of the BlueBerry seeds finally went down about 2 hours before it got planted and it's the first one in the BB row.

OSAK47BB06.jpg

Then, guess what. A forum buddy I had sent a bunch of seeds to a few years back just got back online a few days ago and is sending me a large number of seeds made from crossing 3 healthy DJ Short male Blueberrys with 5 ISS females! Island Sweet Skunk for those that do not know.

I am just so hot to cross those with my one Otto#1 female to attempt to get the same pot I got from the 10g of of Sweet Skunk CBD pot I bought a year ago in BC and made cocobudder with for the best medicinal pot I've ever used. Getting a chubby thinking about it! perv.gif

Still got bugs to contend with and will be kicking their collective asses come tomorrow!

Got a couple of new supervisors to make sure I do it right as well. Meet Ripley, the black girl and my first choice and her brother Rory, a red-head like myself. The wife named them without asking. Cat 1 and Cat 2 would work for me. :)
