What do you do with waste water?

Been growing in coir for years. Depends on what you're trying to accomplish, you really don't need run-off every time in coir. I've done whole grows without run-offs. Size of pots you are planning would be my first question, then would be what type of nutrients will you use ?

High nitrogen and phosphorus creates algae blooms which starve the water of oxygen and leads to deadspots where everything aerobic dies.

This is a major problem all over the world.
I know. Its a major problem. Like I said its one reason I grow organic.

Read something on this recently in Cali they are finding illegal pesticides in rivers. Funny part is that illegal growing took place near there years prior. Scientists believe the soil acts as a filter and slowly releases the contaminants. Like a layer cake they said.
I watched a couple documentaries on it. Its sickening what people do to the earth.

How hot you plan on running it, Anything 1.2 ec or above will require weekly run-offs at the least. My veg profile is 5-3-8,-5-2-.01 @ 450 ppm (0.9 ec). Flower is 4-8-12,4-2-.01 plus S @ 550 ppm (1.1 ec).
What's your veg time that you're shooting for?

Well I run my dwc at 1.2-1.4EC max and they are in it 24/7 so id imagine id max out at 1.4EC for a bit and see how they handle it.

I plan on a couple week veg as im running a stretchy plant and my height is limited to 2.5ft max. Plan on scrogging. This is based off growth rates I see with dwc. Im sure dtw will be less explosive so 3 week max veg

Is that your flip height or max height?
I actually stopped running DWC to switch to coir. That was almost 10 years ago.
This is my progression through 25 days of coir dtw with daily feeds.

Last pot is a 9 liter (2.5 gal) and is ready to flip to flower, and this is what I come out with.

I believe you will find that you will not need to use your nutrients at the same strength that you run in dwc as every watering you are supplying a fresh dose of all nutrients and not relying on a higher ec to carry you through rez changes or nutrient top offs.

Space you are trying to fill? If it's a small space I would suggest not to use pots over 1 gallon to save you some height.

Its like and 8x7 space. Theres a door that makes its really a 8x4 so two 4x4 flood tables fit perfectly.

Ceilings are 7ft. Light takes up a foot. 1.5ft away from plans. Table on frame, above res with pots top,of pots 2ft. off ground leaves me 2 to 2.5ft max height. All the pots were about the same height and they differed in circumference

Have you thought about just filling the flood trays with coir and planting straight into them?

That would be a huge waste IMO.

i was at the hydro store and the #2 gal wrre actually taller than the #3 gal.

TBH I prefer a 2.5ft plant. I grow 6footers in DWC vert and they are a PITA and take 4-6 week veg. I could be half way thru flower with a 2 week veg in that time.

Going to have 8 under a 4x4 so they should fill it up easily

Currently dealing with 20lb of dry fertilizer that got wet. Not sure what to do with it as its unusable now. Dude at the manufacturer said dumb it down the drain....i was like wtf?!
Turn it into a liquid, add X number of gallons to dissolve the product then you can figure how much N is in the liquid and use it.

Not a vert grow, but you can do large plants in 2.5 gallon pots of coir. These were vegged 32 days and 6' tall.DSCN0777.JPG
Single 6-750 gavita De @ 825 watt setting, room is a 8'x12' but only use half of it at this time.

I ended up moving it outside in a tote and apparently the tote leaked and is filled with really concentrated nutrient solution.

Was wondering about putting a thin layer of it and evaporating the water out and scraping up the salts remaining sort of like they do with sea salt.

Not sure because its so concentrated if it would work.

Kind of afraid to touch it to be honest.

Its a 5-11-26 mix. If it was mostly N id use it on my lawn. This hi k and p mix would feed weeds well lol.

Man how are they not falling over?

Mine only get that big due to lack of flowering space so I gotta veg for long periods.

With coco i plan on using my veg room as a veg and flower room and my flower room as a veg and flower room for rdwc system. This will allow me to flip any time I want.

Once they start falling over I yoyo them to the ceiling.

Just harvested 3 plants (all over 42") in less than 1 gal pots. Roots so tight you'd have to cut them to break up the root ball. Not ideal but they were the healthiest plants I've chopped. Two gallon pots lined up for next run - a frightening thing to walk in & everybody is lying flat on the floor! SMH!

My next round of 6' plants in 9 liters of coir.
