Here's my 5 AG plants by Barney's farm.

4x4x6 secret Jardin

About a month since seed pop, in a soil / promix hp mix. 3 gal pots.

Vegged under a 1200w blurple until yesterday, threw my 400w MH in. Better penetration just gotta try to keep temps in check.

Six inch roughly 500 cfm exhaust fan, have an 8 inch 720cfm with carbon filter for flower though.

Just starting to feed this week,

1/4 strength flora Nova
Cal mag
Silica

All opinions and suggestions welcome let's hear it.

The middle top sativa pheno is my babe, but the bottom right took the fimming mint and will bush out nice.

Barney's AG has a nice diesel fruit smell, great buds if done well. Light feeders, see yours are nice and green. Keep nutes light through flower too.

Hey man, thanks alot for chiming in.
Definitely right about being light feeders, gave them not even 1/4 strength nutes and saw super minor burn after.
They're in 3 gallons now for another week or two then 5s for flower.
Think I should order 7s instead?

i dont see a point up-potting from 3 to 5. Ide go to 10s, you should be able to fit 5 or 6 in a 4x4 with no trouble in 10 gallons. We tested 5s vs 10s this summer and the plants in 10s were better plants by far. Its kind of obvious that they would be, but the amount was more than I expected.

Yeah to be honest I'd been starting to think going to fives was not gunna be enough too, they're like a couple inch deeper and a couple wider.
I'll probably order those 7s then. 10s would be a bit more soil than I want to buy/mix this week haha.

There are several considerations, is mobility a requirement? Training method? They can side branch like crazy, 5 7gal could be pushing it depending on training method. No way I'd say 5 10gal, they want to widen out. Great question, I'll attach some detail on 5 and 7 gal runs tomorrow,

Hey OP I wanted to show how sativa dominant strains can widen out with various training methods. On left is a Malawi fully mainlined, on right a Delehaze topped once:

These are 7gal in a 3 x 3. I've managed 4 5gal and 3 7gal, but went with two 7gal this time. In a 4 x 4 I'd say you could run 5 5gal, but 7gal may be pushing it as they'll fill out.

I've mainlined every run, but am experimenting with a top-once tomato cage "oak tree" design, letting early side branching develop while removing most growth tips afterwards, focusing on healthy fan leaves and side branching that really shoots up. They seem to match the main branching height without any work on my part, and the tomato cage serves as the spreader, to which I can tie things off for support.

The plant grows fast and even. I popped that Delehaze two weeks after Malawi. Delehaze wasn't slowed down by mainlining and caught up nicely! Now it will be about yields. I'm hoping the great side branching will help her yield as if I'd mainlined. Some pics showing the side branching:

Hmm thanks for sharing this, Its helped make my decision. I've transplanted them into 5 gal. And will flip to flower this week.

And fuck me, I was hanging this 27 pound carbon filter and I'll be damned if I didn't drop it dead center on my fav plant.
Crushed the main stem and just about every branch. Cut them all into clones, if they root maybe I'll have a mini sog in there.

Between that and some personal shit it's been a rough week for me to say the least.

Hey bro thanks for stopping in.
I'm excited to see it in flower too.
As for the stretch you'll just have to stay tuned and see!

Post a pic of ur sog love to see what you got going on.
I personally germ right right in a light soilless mix or pure peat. 100 percent for me.

Been in flower about a week, I'm handling the stretch alright so far I think, need to get some more twist tie stuff though.
They're filling out the tent nice. Here's a quick shot.

20170918_093803.jpg

The little one at the bottom is a small clone of the nice male I had from the grim mix freebies. Propagation dome is clones from the plant I crushed, they'll finish rooting in 12/12 .

Those plants look absolutely stunning!
Thanks Dave! Glad you popped in.
Things have been going pretty well I'd say, had a few snags along the way but I'm finding my groove.
Luckily for me this strain seems to be somewhat forgiving, as I work 50 hrs a week, sometimes I make a change in the tent and can't see the results until after work. The plants have had a few days were I'd come home and the temp at canopy level is above 85. Minor heat stress is visable, and I'm still working on heat issues but over vegging was my main problem.

Your advice was very valuable and spot on.
I stuck with five gallons and I'm glad I did.
Also have found little evidence that plants can become root bound during flower in a way that negatively impacts their growth.
Learning alot this round and just wanted to say thanks.
