$275 DIY Rosin Plates, PID Controller, and Press

Really well put together guide. You make it easy for the person with no wiring knowledge to put this together. One problem I ran into with this is that for the 3x5" plates you have listed, the floor mounting flange is way to big to fit 3" plates. I'm going to be finding a 2 3/4" piece of aluminum pipe and welding it to the top, unless someone has a better idea/or easier. Thanks for the time you took to put this together for us!

2 out of the 4 holes on the flange are plenty of using smaller plates. There is not much force on the flange/mounting at all. The key is to fit the ram. After that, it just needs to be able to take some screws.

Haha thanks! I think I may have smoked a bit too much, as I started looking for a flange with only two holes, and didn't even think about only using two on the floor flange. I'll post some pictures of the press and some squishes after I pick up some sift, and rosin bags.

Can anyone tell me what size rosin bag is best for an oz?
I used a 3"x8' bag in the video a page back.
After compacting/pre-pressing, it took up about 3x5" of the bag and fit my 6"x6" plates.
How well does this rosin work in a pen like the puffco pro?
What about shelflife of the rosin?
Yes, any kind of pen with a coil and chamber to drop your own in. Rosin won't go into "cartridges" like you ge tat the clubs, without more processes/cutting.

Shelf life will vary. Flower rosin is not as stable as other extracts.

Just built this with a press I built out of a network half rack and some scrap metal. The only "real" problem I ran into was that the new heating elements are slightly bigger. I used a 3/8" drill bit for the hole and it worked fine. Heh, and dumb me drilled the holes into the floor mounting flange too close to the plate, so I had to grind down the screw heads. (;

Today is the big day of squishing some ounces. Thank you so much for your build guide, GG!!

Now that it's been almost a year, what differences have you made to your press? What did you have to upgrade first? Any malfunctions?

I really do appreciate the time and effort that went into this. It's the little things, like explaining HOW a relay works that sticks out to me. The explanation of each part in the beginning might have felt daunting, but it really set the tone for the whole video. Seriously, thank you

Thanks.
Yes, totally aware, and have been debating on taking it down and redoing just for that major flaw. Was in a DC mind state I guess. They are all wired correct, but I called them incorrectly. Then like you say for this build that can take 220v, it won't matter.
I hope you made a new one

Ya, youtube deleted me at 40K subs and over 500,000 views on that video. No oone is really sure why other than being bigits and puppets to their advertisers and being overly cautious with "community guidelines.
Working on getting the video back up, but need to make sure I am in the OK first and havent got a clear answer on that yet.
