The Truth About Flushing

That was a test plant. But not a flushing test.
That was testing on the different nutrient profiles and their effects on Anthocyanin production in a certain strain.
I've done a lot of testing on these plants, nothing by scientific standards but with astute observations.
I do not flush my production plants.
That is a point in itself. That plant of yours was genetically colored like that. Hard to tell what leeching did to it.

Yeah, that's pretty much my feeling too.
Coco will hold a charge. Its possible without heavy leeching the coco held enough to finish.

I noticed with using liquid feeds in a good soil the last couple weeks could be water only as long as there weren't large amounts of water being run through the pot.

I've also noticed I don't care much for bottles and soil. I would prefer soulless medium for synthetics.

You have to watch. Takes a week to really see any improvent when the plant is already like this. But it is an obvious case of pk overload and maybe way too much mag too.

There is enough of everything in the base nutes. You only need to ad Epsom salt if you actually have a mag deficiency. You should always learn to dial in an easy to use base nute before adding anything. How are you supposed to know which bottle or what thing is he problem.

Keep it simple next time is my advice. You got buds there. Best hope is to keep the burn from progressing to them.

Did you leach the pots with fresh water before putting all that back in?
That's the conclusion we came to yesterday. Its hungry. Lock out.

Overload of P and K can look just like it needs more.

Its why I never been a fan of bloom boosters. I always get those yellow, sickly looking plants when I push the boosters.

I prefer a balanced NPK with a good source of micros.

For a starting grow the dynagro products provide a good balance of macro and micro nutrients in one bottle.

I know I keep reccomending it but it works and simple.

Yesterday I was telling u my plant was struggling I got some pics of today .. I fed her a light dose of nutes 2.5 ml of big bloom and 1.5 ml of grow big 2.5 ml of tiger bloom 1/8 of a teaspoon of epsom salt and 1/8 of a teaspoon of beastie blooms. Do u think it's enoughView attachment 3972959 View attachment 3972960 View attachment 3972961 View attachment 3972962 View attachment 3972963To help it out
I wouldn't worry about boosters. Find a good even feed. 5-5-5 or 10-10-10. If the numbers are off a bit is fine. A good balanced feed all the way through will grow pretty healthy plants.

Keep it super simple and less is more.

Keep the plant happy and the rest follows.

I have some of the foliage pro 9-3-6 left and I will grow a plant with it to show how well it works even with it being higher in nitrogen.

I will document it.

What is something to look for if it's getting better or worse
Look for the leaves to take on a healthy glow again. See if the burns progress. See if the buds keep growing and ripening and smell nice. That sort of thing.

They are very damaged already. You need to learn about plants more than ask for directions.

Sorry. I did not read back since the other day. Just answered an alert.

But I agree totally.

It's funny. I have been using only pure Blend Pro Grow for over a year on every plant but tonight with the hot weather just really starting to heat up my basement under the Grow room I did not taper off nutes well enough for 2 plants that were thirsty.

I hope you get the irony here man. Lol.

I flushed them with a gallon of fresh well water. And then decided to add a small dose from the bloom soil bottle.

But that is what the ripening plants needed.

:-)

I won't lie. I've flushed a plant or two when i first tried bottled nutes. I was raised growing organic. I read the label and put it to em. Lol. I never mix at the ratio the bottle calls for.

I start at 1/4 strength and work up. Its easy to add more but when you over do it the damage is done.

Agreed. I used 5 of the 15 ml's Botanicare suggests for ripening.

And I said flush because it made me laugh when I realized what I had just done while we are all still posting in this thread.

Really it was just a light leaching. And re application of fertilizer. Which is pretty much what you have to do if the plant has salt buildup or too much available nutes.

I like to mix my nutes weaker and water until about 20% runoff.

I see people try to water a little at a time with synthetics. It will cause salt buildup every time.

I water in stages also. I water lightly then water again in ten minutes until good run off.

Proper watering technique can make or break a grow.

I do pretty much exactly that as well. :-)

I do tend to let hungry plants runoff sit a bit for them to drink as much solution as they want and remove immediately runoff from plants I am tapering down.

I also monitor ec of the first cup of runoff the same way every time to watch trends. When I see the ec rising the plant may be building up at the roots. Dropping indicates hunger. Just like hydro while not exactly accurate.

I usually only check ph of fresh soil mix. Just to be sure I start out in range.

Might as well add here I like a good wet/dry cycle. I only water when pots are 3/4 dry down the pot at least on a cheap probe moisture meter. (For a baseline)

Really I lift the pot and if it is alarmingly light I water/feed. Takes an avg. of 3 days in my garden for a mature flower.

that feeding did nothing to help your plant.
how old is it? when is your projected harvest date? why were you feeding water only?

Well I'm thinking to harvest in a week maybe two weeks at the most ??? I gave her just water because I thought the nutes were the problem .... But from reading
i learned I was giving the wrong nutes I needed more N ... so I wa s thinking is miracle grow a good idea I have heard no but if u need N at the end MG sounds like the best kind of soil u won't need to add it at the end it's in the soil already.I was giving her bloom nutes way to early
