My bad I thought it was a forum don't cry
It is a forum. But it isn't your Thread. We helped ya. I'm happy to see ya here. But please don't fill my Journal with Extra stuff. If you need any more help please feel free to PM me. But your best chances are hitting the large groups watching for new threads instead of asking the few people who read my journal. I hope what was suggested helps you. Keep coming back to check on this grow journal, and the new one I'm starting on my Jock Horror!

So I'm thinking about updating my lights. I want to do a DIY cob but I'm not sure exactly what would be best for me at this point. I'm still avoiding HPS due to heat and ventilation needs.

Why do you have to be like that ? Yeah is a forum with specific sections with specific topics. You are posting on another members grow journal posting pictures of your plant asking for help and even when i tried to give you some you kept going with it.... so whatever man, take your sad excuse of a plant somewhere else :bigjoint:..... peace :fire:

Sorry.. really not great with some of the words, whats a diy cob ?
COBS is I guess the new cutting edge of LED. DIY as in do it yourself. I believe cob strands for Chips On Board. All I know is the guys running cob swear it's the holy grail. And I've been reading reviews that my light is just a shitty cheap blurple. So I'd rather spend some money and get something that's worth it's weight

Sounds good, but i would say you would need to be really clued up with electronics to do it... there would be alot to consider. Like moisture resistance, fire proofing, fuse's, cooling and a reliable source of bulbs... dont get me wrong the led's we are using are not the best but they get the job done and if done right then done well... if you are VERY good with electrics then go for it... if not leave the pro's to it and invest in a better led light. Some go into the thousands! But remember the bigger the led the hotter it is and if you find yourself needing to control heat then a hps could be a better/cheaper option all round ;)

It's not very hard at all, even people with no electronics experience could build a cob set up by following instructions. Much cooler and cheaper to run than hps

Hi, Just came across your journal and am mighty impressed with the way you set out to grow, you can see that this is just the first of many. First, Northern Lights is my favourite strain, must have grown it at least a dozen times, lovely steady groove of a weed, and tough as they come, you could take the pots out to the garden and play a game of football with them and the plants would just carry on as if nothing had happened. I,m interested in how things turn out as Ive just got a Viparspectra 450 and this journal addresses this as, you are growing under a Vipar 300. Your pics are great, the fellow posters in here seem like a good crowd. If I can be any help I,ll chip in with the odd comment, but you seem to be doing well. Good Luck mate. Interested in seeing how the NL autos turn out as I think they would make a good winter grow where the attic temps are too low for around 4 months or so, anyway I digress, good luck and carry on.

Thanks for coming in! I'd love for you to chip in and join me on this journey. And this will definitely be one of many! The People who follow this journal and keep up with my grows are a knowledgeable and friendly bunch. I appreciate them and attribute the success of this plant so far to them and how hardy that NL is! She's been a great gal so far man. She's really smelling great. It's lights out and I don't touch or open or look at all during lights out but I'll update when she comes back to life. If I sound weird it's because I'm baked. Just got a shit ton of Girl Scout. Wax and Bud. Woot woot!

Blueridge grower--you say above in the post with the pics that she is 42 days into flower - that makes you roughly half way through the grow--I'm sure you know that the claims made by most seed companies greatly exaggerate the grow times, if it says 65 days on the pack--add another 20--shes looking great. You also say somewhere that theres not much signs of trichomes yet, don't worry, any NL grow ive ever done visible trichomes only seem to appear on the last 4 weeks or so. also I see furious248 somewhere suggesting that if you grow in organic compost like Bio Bizz then you will most likely benefit from a dose of Epsom salts, this is very true, although I found after many attempts to make this work that a teaspoon of salts in your watering water once every three weeks throughout the grow was the dose that seemed to fix the deficiencies. PS Ive got an NL grow going on in the cupboard just now, only a week into flower. not autos but NL none the less, and Nirvana too. will be good to compare the Feminised NL grow (photo) with the Auto NL you got going. Sorry to keep hijacking but I love NL of all descriptions. I hear good reports of an NL auto strain by Delicious seeds called Northern Lights Blue its supposed to finish quicker I think.
