The Green Rush Debunked

With the passage of Prop 64, there is a feeding frenzy here in California. Everyone is trying to jump on the bandwagon thinking they will get a piece of the pie. This article is written more as the do and don't and I encourage others to share their own tips.

1) Craigslist..... Just don't
There are a wide variety of scam artists on Craigslist promising a great deal of things. "I will find you a space--I have investors, I have realtors... Just pay 2500.00 if you are serious"
The fact is-- Warehouses currently are going for 150 times the market rate in places like adelanto, lynwood, and other places where the Cities have begun rolling out their implementation of Prop 64. However, the big issue is that the State will not be even giving out licenses till January 2018 at earliest, and wont even begin to take applications til around October or November.
Anyone can apply for a license in one of the tiers however, the process will be akin to opening a restaurant and will require near medical grade environments. Hence, opening a grow op in things like the back of a trailor, a grow pod, or a poorly constructed warehouse won't cut it.
Retail centers and zoning are also off limits and prohibitive. The fact is everything will be based on a track and trace and it is my opinion that most large scale operations will opt out in the beginning. Opting to stay underground until things get fleshed out.
Yes, there will be raids and yes, there will be prohibitions on dispensaries buying black market products. However, this has never stopped anyone. There is absolutely no green rush. The fact is MJ has been a cash crop since at least 1994 or even earlier. The top strains and the top growers don't deal with the General Public therefore in an earnest attempt the state wishes to now tax what isn't Federally legal and hope that growers who have been for decades under ground will finally open up their locations (many hidden in plain sight) with the idea of going legal and taxed.
Which brings me back to my point, no serious grower will ever post a Craigslist add selling their top end clones for 5 dollars.
I often laugh when I read these Craigslist posts. Sure, the post some crap about Prop 215 and that you have to be a Medical Patient etc. But coveted strains of top genetics are not shared for 5 bucks. Its a joke.
I actually bought a gavita 1000w de for 125 dollars off of Craigslist from a Teenage kid who said he tried his hand at growing some clones that he bought off Craigslist. He said everything was going great. He bought top gear and thought "Im gonna make some money". Moral of the story, he grew powdery mildew with a side of Spider Mites. I got to buy his light and a bottle of Rubbing Alcohol to clean it.
Growing is not hard. However, it takes more than just light and dirt. It takes dedication. Which cant be bought for five dollars on a classified.
With that being said, there is no Green Rush, the market has been flooded with top quality for years. Think to yourself? Why would it be any different now? Prices use to be 4000 wholesale, now they are 2000 wholesale for top quality. At what point will those prices go down to where it will not even make sense to grow with the cost of nutes, electricity, water, and co2. Sadly, I believe this will not be long. Even outdoor will also hit a phase where it makes no sense to grow even in mass crap quantity.

DO
Do continue growing, but understand that the best way to cash in on the Green Rush is not growing per se but rather mentoring or setting up others. This has always been the best way to make money. You charge someone nothing up front. You simply consult through the first harvest and work hands on with someone till they make money for a percentage. If you have contacts for distribution, this is where the real money can be made. Acting as a go between. The fact is, with so many people jumping on this train, they have no ability to sell it. I have a friend who owns a licenced Prop d compliant dispensary. No, he will not buy your weed that you grew in a shed.
Dont
Dont use cancer causing cure alls. Things like eagle 20 or phospholoads are dangerous. You can also be prosecuted if someone dies from smoking your weed that you decided to put ortho on to kill a few spider mites (Yes they can and will trace it, if someone is actually harmed). The fact is there is not a single dollar that is worth hurting someone. Plus this just fuels the Governments agenda on why legalization should never occur.

Dont give anyone money to find you a property. This is just bullshit...
Dont buy clones from a parking lot. The fact is, no serious grower will share a clone of top grade quality and genetics. If you do buy a clone, know that what you are buying is B grade at best.

Dont brag about being a grower. This is just stupid. No its NOT LEGAL in California yet. Its technically legal to grow 6 plants indoor. But Federally its still a felony. DONT BE STUPID.

Do make your voice heard by going to meetings at State Agency's to voice what you expect of these tax payer based agencies that will be implementing the laws to share what you think .....

If anyone else has any comments Id love to hear them

Good points on all fronts. However, as a long time activist I am enjoying coming out of the closet where I can talk about the benefits of cannabis and hemp more openly. Nevada is going crazy because of the playground it has been for many many years. The only agency who can arrest me now is the DEAth Squad. Somehow, I don't think that will happen. I really feel my longtime efforts have had some things to do with where we are now. The internet is the most powerful weapon though. Good thing Al Gore invented it.

Some of the best strains are not easy to grow, like OG Kush. It's prone to PM and insects. Probably why it's always in demand and high priced. It's considered one of the riskier strains to try to produce commercially. I doubt a big facility could grow it without chemicals. My guess is that only small, experienced growers could put out clean, well manicured, well cured, premium pheno OG Kush.

Hey bro - are some strains really more susceptible to bugs? This is weird? Any botany gurus who can chime in why?

Well you know how some strains are described as "spider mite resistant"? This strain is the opposite, at least that's what a page about the strain said. Haven't grown it out yet myself. Never got spider mites anyway, only fungus gnats. But outdoors it could be a problem. How does a strain resist the mites? Probably terps or maybe the physical structure, like more pointy spikes to keep them back.

Umm yea i was estimating. There are many still at 2200 wholesale i believe you are getting ripped if you have a grade and are selling for less. They are retailing the same top grade for 15 a gram do the math
Prices are falling all over the country. I expect that trend to continue.

I don't see the problem, hopefully, it gets cheap enough that I can just buy it. Sure is a lot less effort.

i don't think national prohibition is even close to over, local police make way too much money fucking with people over weed to just abandon it. unless trump and his whole entourage get ousted, sessions is going to do as much damage to the cause as he can before he gets shit canned by the next administration.
i think prices will fluctuate wildly over the next three years, and longer. just wait till sessions gets a few minutes free to do the evil he has in mind to do. i see a lot of legal dispensaries getting raided by the feds, i see him trying to fucking up all kinds of federal funding for legal states, and i see him trying to raise penalties across the board. just hope to god who ever replaces this evil fuck will immediately undo whatever he "accomplishes"

Jeff sessions is the attorney general of this country. He swore to enforce the federal laws on the books and marijuana prohibition happens to be one of them. It isn't Session's fault that marijuana is federally illegal and illegal in the majority of states. Don't be mad at the guy enforcing the law....get mad at the people writing the laws.

Let's face it, does America really need to be selling recreational drugs, like openly in storefronts sanctioned by the govt? Can't see that being beneficial. The only reason the states agreed to it was out of pure greed. Is that a worthy motive? People were griping about not being able to use it medicinally. Well, in most places that's no longer an issue and if it is people are free to move from one state to another. Did I hear people griping about needing to get weed for the singular purpose of getting high and it being denied? Nope. Pretty obvious reason why not. Anyone who likes getting high probably managed to find a source at some point or they wouldn't have been getting high. And besides that, getting high is far from a necessity of life. Obama let things get out of hand and now look at the fucking mess.

Seems rather unlikely, considering I didn't actually give any information, just expressed an opinion. I guess my opinion is incorrect huh? How exactly is selling dope in stores to any adult a good thing for America, or Canada for that matter? Getting high helps the nation be more productive does it?

Taking drugs is not "recreation", it's being a druggie, which while probably enjoyable for that person is doing society as a whole no good whatsoever. I accept that people should be able to take drugs if they want. I just don't agree that the Government should be dope dealers. Is that a crazy notion? Is that what the founding fathers envisioned, half the nation fucked up on opioids and the other stoned the fuck out on THC, and a bunch high on both simultaneously thanks to politicians? Probably not. They are doing it for one reason, money. They fucked their states up so bad that they had to start selling dope to cover costs.

Nicotine, caffeine, and alcohol are all recreational drugs sold in stores sanctioned by the government. Why should marijuana be any different?

Does a 4th wrong make a right? Seems more like piling more turds on the shit pile.
