First Grow

After sitting around and asking questions, I'm bout to attempt my first grow. I bought a Apollo Grow tent. It's 32" by 20" by 62". I got a 300w LED Viparspectra reflector series light. I'm only growing 2 plants. Not sure if I need another light. I got a small fan for inside the tent. I'm growing Northern Lights Auto from Nirvana. I'll update as I go! Look forward to hearing from y'all. Any tips and advice helps. I'll post pics of set up so far soon.

That light outputs 136W and looks to be mostly blue. I'd say it's fine for veg, but when them autos start to flower I'd get another with more red in the spectrum. I like to have about 125W+ per plant when using HID/LED.

Good luck to you!

Can you recommend one that would be better for flower stage?

I'll leave that to someone better qualified than me. I'm custom building mine right now. The last one I purchased ready-made was a 90w UFO (which I would NOT recommend) like 6 years ago when I first started playing with LEDs.

Ok I can do that. So just 2 300w? And was the NL pretty hardy? I've never really grown anything like this. Not sure how much different it is from outside

I found it to be a VERY easy plant to grow. Don't fuss with it too much and you should be fine. You should do pretty will with one of those lights per plant.

I'm growing in the same tent with the same light. It worked very well through veg and the first three weeks of flower. But I started to notice that the edges of the plants weren't getting enough light. I bought a second vipar 300w and life is good again. I'd recommend to just buy the second one from the beginning. In my room where the tent is, it stays 68f. With one light running and a 6in 220cfm fan sucking through a 20in carbon filter for exhaust it ws solid at 81f, lights off 75f. After adding in the second light it was 90f! I added a second 22cfm inline fan onto the end of my exhaust duct and now lights on temp is solid at 84f with 40-45% rh. The little tent/chinese LED combos can be pretty effective setups for a couple of plants. Good Luck!

I'm trying not to put ductwork in. I'm using a little 5 inch oscillating fan. I ran my light for a cycle to see what it put out at and my tent was at 75. Instead of another 300w LED could I hang a 100w or maybe 150w CFL on each side of the 2 plants and keep my LED where it is? or another cheaper alternative to that $80 LED?

you have to have have a fan exhausting no matter what. The smell will become uncontrollable if you dont put a fan and filter in there.

This.

Just use dryer vent tubing. It's cheap and ubiquitous. My flexible tubing is 4in. My fans are 6in. So I dropped into the local hardware store, grabbed a couple of couplings, and boom, good ventilation.
