My first grow Advance Nutrients

My first grow ever Advanced Nutrients, 5 gallon smart pot final pot size, Pro Mix BX,
Advance Nutrients Grand Master nute program on Advanced nutrients calculator.

Started in solo cup promix bx T5 light, I staged my plants from solo to I gallon smart pot to final 5 gallon smart pot.
As soon as I moved up to the 1 gallon smart pot I put plants into 4x8x7 tent with two 1000 watt dimable MH lights for 4 week at 75% power using only one of the two lights at this time 24/7 light, switched to 12/12 spreading plants out and swapped my MH's for my HPS's, using two lights at this point at 75% for a few days then up power to 100% few day after this you can bump up to 110% power on ballast if you have that option, my plants are curents 3 weeks two days into flowering right now.

I'm growing almost the same as you and about to harvest starting in about a week. I'm using ProMix HP mixed with their potting soil in two 4 gal pots and HP with their Veg and Herb mix. Was feeding them Sensi Grow for veg then some Connie for early flowering and after the stretch switched to the 3 - part to be able to cut back on the N in later flowering. Used Big Bud and Bud Ignitor just before flipping and Rhino Skin ever since they were seedlings. A bit of GrowTek Cal-Max but it has 2% N so going to get something else and use this in the veggie garden.

Day 60 since the flip now and one is getting close and also burned a bit so flushed her a couple days ago. First run with this no-name strain I made so kept good notes about feeding to dial it in better with the next run. Tried some popcorn buds off that one and it's just great by me. :)

I've been using AN for the last 16 years and love it. The pH Perfect now makes it even easier to plug and play your plants. Done a lot of DWC too and that's where it shines.

How much did the Grandmaster bundle cost? I'll look up the package on their site so no need to list stuff. It's more supplements than I want to deal with and I've never followed their feed charts.

Your plants are looking really good and are going to need help holding their heads up before long.

I haven't updated my grow log for 10 days so should get some pics up tonight yet.

Nice, I have a bunch of plant yo yo's waiting. Thanks for your interest, I have no clue how to navigate this rollitup site,

Thanks for your interest, I'm still learning as I go, I think I have to drop the nute mix a bit, the ends of my fan leaves are start to show signs of burn, when I water tmr it will be straight PH water that continue with a lighter feeding.
I'm waiting to set up my RDWC 4 site with control buck from H20 to Gro, I want to try scrog with this system but changing the water once weekly with plants locked into screen, so I'm just trying to think my way around that part.

If it's a recirculating system you can do your water swaps straight from the res and don't need to bother the plant sites.

I was told that doing it from res is not Efficient Enough for a proper cleaning
There's lot's of different opinions on this. But I would have no issue running it that way and doing the big cleaning in between the grows. With four sites and a res to be honest if you have a clean run with your nutes etc you should be able to just top off the entire grow, and then pump and dump right before flower and just top off for flower as well.

DWC ScroG is great and as long as everything is good you never have to clean out the containers the plants grow in and can do your nute changes from the rez. To get the water out of the pails if needed get a drill pump to suck the nutes out with any power drill. About $10 and a bit.

AN tells you to use too much and don't really have clear instructions how to use it to feed in soilless. In DWC it's much more straightforward as long as you don't follow their 4ml/L from seedling on up and change your nutes every week throwing away good nutes. I've done around 50 DWC tubs so I can help you with that.

Stayed up way too late so be back by noon mountain time. :)

I'm gonna try it, I got the system awhile now, I'm pretty anal the way I do things so I didn't want to start until I figured it out, I'm gonna try when I harvest this grow I'm in now, thanks

Yeah I figured out as well that AN wants you to use way too much nutes, i use half strength base and full strength supplements, I have had no problem this way

Can I switch line on my pump and push out water for nute change?

4L jugs of AN one of each just under $2000 CAD.

One of my buddies who has been growing for years said my plants were the best his ever seen, I owe it to AN I guess cuz it was pretty easy once you figure out dose strength which is half strength on base and full strength on supplements, the supplements really make a difference

You bet. It's just a small pump that goes on the end of the drill and takes standard size garden hose fittings. On the end that goes in the tub where there are roots I wrapped the end with mosquito net and secured it with a small hose clamp so it doesn't suck any in. It pulls pretty strongly and I can empty a 50L tub in just a couple minutes. You have to hold the pump securely when you pull the trigger or it will spin around. I found out the hard way. :)

Yeah I figured out as well that AN wants you to use way too much nutes, i use half strength base and full strength supplements, I have had no problem this way
That's about the way I do it in soilless but will go up to 3/4 strength if the plants are larger and growing rapidly. Depends on the strain too tho. My afghani kush is a real pig and can take a lot more than some where sativas can easily be burnt at much less. I'll feed, water, feed usually. I find 4gal pots about right and take 4 days to dry up enough to need another watering/feed.

With DWC I go by ppm. Fresh clones get about 300ppm so 1ml/L gives about that then I add nutes to it to raise the ppm iin stages as the plants really get going. I generally don't do a change until after the stretch then run lower ppm than what I was running before flipping.

To find out how much the plants eat daily I will go about 3 days after the last top up. Top up with RO water only, allow time to mix well, then test ppm and add enough nutes to get it back to my target. Dividing by 3 tells me how much they ate daily. For example I had a bunch of plants that were dropping the ppm around 50/day then after the flip it went up to 250/day so needed a lot more nutes added with a top up. As the stretch slowed the drop slowed too until after the flip it was down to about 50 again. Then that slowly began dropping as the plants got closer to the end. I'm sure that is why it's best to lower ppm after the stretch to help prevent salts building up in the leaves leading to toxic salts buildup and burnt crispy leaves.

So 12L of nutes and gold plated supplements? :) That seems like a lot of money for nutes. I just got 4L jugs of the 3-part for $40 each, $90 for a 500g jar of Big Bud, 1L Rhino Skin for $40/L, Small, 250ml bottle of Bud Ignitor was $34, (ouch), 1L OverDrive on sale for $23 and a L of GrowTek CalMag for $20. Other than the Ignitor I'm good for 3 years or so. Not changing out my DWC every week saves a lot of nutes.

A buddy bought all the bells and whistles and destroyed two large crops trying to use them all then cut back to about the same I'm using and things went great. He's running a 10x10 flowering tent with each side having an 8 plant RDWC setup and crops one side each cycle for about 4lbs/crop. Quit his annoying civil service job to be a grower full time and is happy as a pig in poo. :) Sells it all to a dispensary in Ontario and they want lots more.

I'm gonna try it, I got the system awhile now, I'm pretty anal the way I do things so I didn't want to start until I figured it out, I'm gonna try when I harvest this grow I'm in now, thanks
I was pretty anal about it too but I got over that. :D

I started doing DWC in 2001. No internet and just an idea from a book I read that had some stuff about the floating gardens the Inca used to do and an article in High Times I think about if you could grow good pot in just nutrient water. I've tried all sorts of things since and it's become very easy for me to get a good crop every time without thinking about it much. Always in single RubberMaid tubs but I see RDWC in my future.

Bud factor x is $78 a L alone, base nutes are cheap, Paranha, tarantula, microbial munch are $78 a L as well,. A lot of them are $40 but a good few are expensive

Just curious... youre using AN Sensi grow/bloom pH Perfect in Promix? Have you had any issues at all? Or all is good with that combo?

Are you using tap water or RO water...or ???

Stable ph???

I'm using PH perfect Micro Grow Bloom as my base thru out the grow in straight Pro Mix BX, started from seeds 10 Purple Kush from crop kings, all but one popped a tap root. I have 8 healthy plants.
Veg 24/7 under T5 in solo cups, transplanted to 1 gallon smart pots still under T5 at this point, once they have filled out the one gallon I transplanted to 5 galllon smart pot. I use lake water, I live in the most easterly point in North America which is St. John's Newfoundland and Labrador Canada, the water ph is 6.0 naturally.
Once in the 5 gallons I put them in my 8x4 tent under 1000 watt dimable light at 50% power until they get adjusted to new pots new light, then I slowly crank it up day by day until it's at I it's max 110%.
I start my nutes at base Micro Grow Bloom at .50 ml per litre, B-52 at 1ml per litre, Voodoo 1ml per L, piranha.50 ml per L as well as Tarantula and Microbial Munch.
As plants get bigger slowly work your way you to max 2ML per litre base nutes could be less depending on strain, I also up the strength of the supplements to full strength which is 2Ml per litre, when I switch to 12/12 I lower the strength of everything but big bud and bud candy, those two I keep at full strength

Only issues I had was feeding too much nutes, at first I caught it in time and was able to adjust it
