1000W HPS or 6500K CFL'S for vegging

i know HPS is best for flowering and i currently have 270W worth of 6500k CFLs on my babies, would it be better to just use the 1000w HPS to veg is i had it on 18/6?

Why not use all of the lights? The will HPS produce more growth than the CFLs, but using both of them would be best, then when you go to flowering you can just use the 1000w HPS and use the CFLs for vegging some more plants to get a somewhat perpetual harvest going.

im growing all female clones not worried about males, unless your telling me these clones will turn into males!

lol, no, this applies to seedlings. in my experience, my statement is very true. under hps, i had 60% male. under mh, i had 95%+ fem. go figure...

but... the fact still remains that 6500 kelvin is the ideal spectrum for veggetative growth. using cfl's will save you electricity too.

hmmm, yep, i still think i'd go with the cfl's, saving my pretty powerful 1000w for flower.

INCREASING YOUR CHANCES OF FEMALES
A well maintained grow room with plants growing in optimal conditions will naturally produce more females than males. There are some other things you can do to increase your odds of improving your male to female ratio. These are as follows:
• High nitrogen levels in vegetative growth have shown to produce more females than males. This might be a good to reason to use feeds with a higher l\l to P and K ratio rather than foods with an equal N to P and K ratio. Remember though that plant burn will only lead to stress and this will produce more males and hermaphrodites than females.

• High potassium levels in vegetative growth and flowering tends to produce more males than females. Keeping your potassium levels down is another good reason to choose a food with a higher N than P and K ratio where the P and K ratios are even, or where the K ratio is kept lower than P. Remember though that lack of K can cause plant stress due to this nutrient deficiency and this can cause more males and hermaphrodites to appear than females.
• Cannabis plants grow best under conditions of between 40 and 80 percent relative humidity (rH). In the higher rH range of between 70 and 80 your female to male ratio may increase.
• Cannabis plants grow best at 75 degrees Fahrenheit. If you do not allow the temperatures to increase beyond this you will improve your chances at getting more females than males. If the environment is supplemented with C02 the temperature may be allowed to increase as far as 95 degrees Fahrenheit.
• Using MH lights in vegetative growth will improve your female to male ratio.

I think its farely well accepted that the mother creates seeds and when it does so it makes the sex.

If you get a hermie and it self seeds, the plants will most likely be female, so this must have happened because of the plant.

If the seed already has its sex determined if you influence it in anyway it can surely only go hermie, I dont believe that there is anyway to completely change the sex, otherwise we would be taking those measures on our males.

If anyone you didnt know made a website about growing marijuana and made it look factual, would you believe everything on there as being gospel.

Not everything you read is true and this is a crystal clear example.

I understand that you believe this to be true and that i probably wont be able to change your mind and thats fine, but it is total bollocks.

ooooo some copy paste action and with no detail. ive vegged on a hps mutiple times and gotten back mixed ratios, more male sometime more female others, saying hps lights produce more males is not logical.

I know someone who followed those steps and they got 1 fem and the rest males so it isnt true
how did they fuck up?

good conditions, all the way around, are what will give you more females. cool temps, cool spec, good ventilation, higher nitrogen ferts, etc...

i have expereinced all of this. i didn't see it on a forum, i didn't catch the tail end of a thread, this is from my grows. all of this is sound.

but, you do as you pleez :) i grow successfully. if you do, or don't, it bothers me not.

and, i step back, to avoid the proverbial pissfest. good day gents.

I just did 18 seedlings with a hps and got 11 out of the 18..not bad..
You can buy a conversion bulb mh instead of messing with your ballast
Just make SURE its a conversion bulb

kp o dear, no hard feelings, but we've all read this stuff before, so saying it comes right from your experience is probly not true. i suppose i can agree with some of it but only as speculation, some of it is just trash.
