Your right about the fans being odd. And the weird thing is it's twist as quiet this way. Something aboutits the ventured effect if you restrict fan with duct size it produces a lot of decibels at the exhaust point.

Noise in a duct is caused by excessive velocity and most main duct trunk lines are calculated to not exceed 750 FPM in a residential application. Your will always want to maintain a slight negative to keep odours in check. I used roxall sound batts and 5/8 ply, steel studs, aluminum backed bubble wrap and you can't here anything outside the shed, that's with 6 pumps, a couple of fans, and 280 cfm extraction setup to all lights. But yup gotta be careful . And to the guy that's growing without the wife knowing ...... well perhaps she's doing stuff you know nothing about, seems she may not be paying much attention LOL.

Lowes has them I would think, just need to make sure it's for a fan, I think some by their nature are quieter, Google would be your friend here. I do a bit of duct design, I'm a refrig mechanic and a few more tickets so love this stuff.

Hey thanks for the post. I planned on buying almost everything via Amazon. My cart is currently $2400 lol. Lots of the same products doubled up so I can look at options tho. I imagine it will be about $1600 when it's time to buy lights/fans/nutes/etc.

And I think I'm going to use ProMix HP. Dixie cups to one gallons to either 3 or 5 gallons. And I plan on using either the full organic or the full elite line from Blue Planet. Silica, cal mag, maybe throw an overdrive in at the end.

And yep everything that moves or makes noise will be hung/roped/bungie mounted. I don't plan to hard mount anything other than my room fans.

I used blue planet high yield in my rdwc systems, very nice nutrient line, no complaints and very cheap. I use canno coco line now as I am not doing rdwc anymore but definitely recommend blue planet. Use code medgrower1 on blueplanets website for discount.

LOL @ Budley! I can't imagine being able to keep a grow from the wife. I mean hell, even if you could physically keep it out of her radar...how do you account for your lost time? Lol

So here is a quick rundown on the products I'm looking to use here.

Veg Light: MarsHydro Reflector 96
Room Fans (2): HydroFarm Active Air
Ventilation: Can Fan Pro 8 + Phresh 8x24 Carbon Filter + Unitech 8 Inline Muffler
Temps and Humidity: AcuRite Wireless Sensor
Seedlings & Clones: Greenleaf Heat Mat, Clone King Aero Cloner, CloneTek Cloning Solution + two 2' T5 flouros

I'm still not sure how many plants I should run at once in this space. Four medium plants? Two bigger? And that answer dictates flowering in 3 or 5 gallon pots maybe even 7? I could also technically switch down to a 6 inch ventilation setup. A Can Pro 6 still does something like 475CFM. So that means I could step down a notch on the hood, the ducts, the filter, the muffler. Remember this area is only like 230 cubic feet. I'm aiming really high with my ventilation.

I may end up just building my own muffler as $50 for a tube with eggcrating seems a bit steep. And I could spend some extra money and get the more expensive mountain air filters. The weight difference between filters is staggering. Rated for the same CFM...Phresh 20lbs...Mountain Air 45lbs....

i have used ceiling fan dimmers on bathroom ceiling fans back in the day for ghetto box grows, and they worked fine
but on these larger inline fans,, sorry but no, they pull to many amps for those dimmers and they will burn out
the speedy fan controllers,, also known as router speed controllers,, they work, but they can induce a hum from the fan,, they also will only slow a fan down so far and thats it,, the variac controller I showed above will controll a fan from 1 percent all the way to 100 percent,, but it has to be a fan that does not have those start solinoids,, fans that have speeds arelready built into them wont work with external speed controllers,, i guess thats why i am partial to the can fan type fans,, plus they have a big centrifical force working for them, get a large fan, and slow the drum down, and they get really quiet,

So here is a quick rundown on the products I'm looking to use here.

My room design sucks lol. I need way more room doing stacked totes and tray's, about 10x20x10 would be just perfect .

Hah, thanks for the interest! Sorry I haven't posted. I've been busy with the basement and trying to sell my old car so I can have play money for this grow.

But this happened to the concrete floor...



It's a garage floor epoxy kit I got at Lowes made by Seal Krete. No short cuts...degreaser and etch, primer, epoxy and color flakes, and a clear coat. Somehow it was more expensive than I had originally planned. Lol



It looks alright. I should have sanded down spots in the concrete that were crappy oh well. It's nice and smooth and now I don't mind coming on this side bare foot. Plus it brightened up the space a lot. Since this side will be my work area for the grow I wanted to clean it up a bit.




Spent way too much money at Lowes. On top of material costs...I also needed some tools. Circular saw, a tile saw for another project, powder shot to nail my footers. The list was large. Here's part of it.



The delivery of all the materials got pushed to this Wednesday. The wife is going to take a day off to receive it. Since it was suppose to happen before this long weekend and it didn't I can't take much time off for it.

In the meantime though I'm running what electrical I can. I'm converting two draw string type basement lights to a series of five on a switch placed just right for the work area.

I also had to actually move the two light switches for the finished sides ceiling lights. They were on the wall that ran down the side of the stairs that we tore down. They've kinda just been hanging. Lol. So I moved them to a better spot. Was a bitch pulling the romex backwards. But it's done.



I'll post some more later if I can get these lights done.

But , if you do it right, and the way you want, you will not have to spend more later making changes you should have done in the first place,, after the first grow it typically pays for itself,, maybe the second grow depending,,

I agree with TF I've made a bunch of changes / up grades . So it'll take me 5/6 to brake even . Lol

I found the supply list I made. This is all being delivered around noon on Wednesday.



It's amazing how much thought a novice has to put into this stuff. Also I'm mending a few sections of our fence so that stuff is on there too.

Wish I had a truck. Cost $70 for delivery and really it's not all that much stuff. That's the price you pay when all you have is a crappy coupe
