Watering With Brown Sugar?

i can't say from experience if it does or not but from what hear from most people is that it does help increase yield. you can use honey, molasses,& or even some syrups. i read in a "HIGH TIMES GROW BIBLE" that using a 1 tbs per G. of water can increase the yield by up to 20% with actual test and pic's of the two different tests, it was the same strain and grown at the time. So yea i would say that brown sugar would do the same.

IMHO I think that molasses does fatten buds up some but this may be do to the heavier water weight of the water in the plant with some molasses. Also some minimal amounts of NPK and other micronutrients. I'm a biology major and as I understand it sugar can be absorbed by plant roots but it has to be associated with a Potassium ion or another material for which the roots have a specific transport for. Also too much sugar intake would tell the plant not too do as much photosynthesis making for paler plants (not necessarily bad). Also as concerned to flavor and taste, I have definitely noticed some change in smell in plants before, the most noticeable when I used some Aunt Jemimas syrup when I was a little less educated. Although it was short lived and didn't really come out in the smoke. Lastly I believe molasses should be used very carefully because too much can help create root rot and certain bug problems. Peace and sorry about the ^ rantage. :joint:

im convinced it increases weight, like purpz said he read in high times grow bible and they tested it so theres your answer.

i have read in several different places over the years that watering with brownsugar/molasses does infact increase bud weight.. That wouldn't neccessarily mean that your buds would be more dense, only heavier... Just because you have a bud that weighs more doesnt really mean that its more smoke... if that makes any sense..

we all know that some weed breaks up better than others due to density. if your bud is heavy it doesnt exactly mean that there was an increase in bud development only bud weight..

which would be nice if you wanted to sell some of your stash.

its not like we all weigh a gram out to smoke every few hours lol..

I use molasses throughout flowering in low doses to keep my microbes happy. It also lowers ph and contains sulfur which also helps. (my tap water has a ph of 8. I don't believe that it changes the taste or size of the buds, but I do think that it helps by making the soil microbes healthy so that they can break down the nutrients into a form that the plants can absorb. I also don't believe in flushing or molasses at the end of a grow. It's pretty pointless in my opinion. Be careful about using too much molasses or other syrupy carbs because it will lessen the ability of your plants to absorb moisture and nutrients. If you don't believe me....search Mountain Dew here on RIU....lol

Molasses & added sugars do NOTHING to a plants taste. If anything it will harm your plant if over used. All molasses/sugars will do is feed your micro-beatie heard.....that's it. Which is a good thing......a very good thing. Sure there are a few other goodies in the molasses, but not that much, just don't over do it. I only use molasses in teas at a rate of 1 TEASPOON per gallon to feed the micro beatie heard. You want those fuckers feeding, farting & fornicating. Healthy "alive" soil equals BIG FAT BUDS!

So what's better. For those of us who don't have a place they know of that sells molasses.

Raw sugar, brown sugar. Or honey?

Hmmm. Might have to take a look next time I'm at the shops. We don't have a lot of shite here. And I didn't find it in the local garden and hardware stores. Which I would've thought is where it'd be found.

Hey Big Daddy.
I usually build my own soil, but this year I used "Empire Builder" from Sanctuary soils with success. http://sanctuarysoil.com/sanctuary-soil/ They're a bit west of Modesto in Vernalis, California. Your local nursery supply should sell it in bulk, or Sanctuary soils has a "dealer locater" on their web site. I had a 10 yard truck deliver mine.
Years past I used Maxsea with success, but this year I used Gro More product line. The Gro More product is cheaper by about 1/3rd the price.
Hit me on the PM if you need more questions answered. O'ya, don't use molasses unless used in teas at a rate that I explained above in this thread.

Well my brother I thought the same thing Brown sugar is really just molasses with sugar anyways but using sugar not for Taste but for size scientist just proved that your yield will be 30 to 38% larger they debunk the part of flavor and other things but verified that sugar will add size to your buds by a large margin didn't believe it myself until Mythbusters in Metro Detroit area stent 14 months proving and disproving these methods they debunk everything but sugar sugar produces enzymes and bacteria that's good for the plant and makes bigger fatter more robust buds but changes no flavor at all if you want I can send you the link hit me up if not no biggie I learned 10 years ago to keep an open mind to everything didn't want to try it until it was proven now I'm using it not long enough to know yet though peace out

It's true about larger buds larger yield but if it changes my flavors I would pass on it! I use only white sugar from sugar beets not pure cane sugar only going off what I was taught and read. I can't tell you the difference but it does raise your yield 30% + try it u won't believe it. But change flavor again if it did change my flavor I would never use it can't wait to see how mine turns out tried other people's, seen it in person and read a article from botanist/scientist from Metro Detroit area on a 14 month study. They came up with a 30% to 38% higher yield. on certain strains if u want the article on it hit me up I'll send it to you pretty cool never would have guessed... Peace JB

Is it true tht you can flavor with brown sugar by feeding you plant a 1/4 table spoon once a week disolved in a gallon of water. Has anyone ever tried this and dows it work, or just attract ants?:bigjoint:
Won't change flavor been debunked mind over matter is strong. But table sugar white sugar WORKS FOR SIZE only 30% larger unreal really but true change flavor NOT! IS WHAT THE STUDIES SAY 14 MONTH STUDIES DEBUNKED EVERTHING BUT YIELD ON WHITE SURAG OFF THE CHARTS... SEEN IT SMOKED IT AND READ WERE THEY DEBUNKED EVERYTHING BUT LARGER YIELD GOOD LUCK IM TRYING IT NOW ON MY RTH AND FINAL TRY ON MINE, BUT LIKE ONE PERSON SAID IN HERE WHY WOULD U WANT TO CHANGE FLAVORS? I WOULDN'T AND COULDN'T BUT LARGER YIELD INDOOR IM IN TILL I SEE NOT WORKING
