Breeding anyone?

Hello all!

So an associate of mine found himself a male, and I had some questions. Before anyone asks, we've moved the bad boy indoors and well away from his girls outside.

If we attempt to get some pollen (We have a hepa filtered area to collect it) would I be able to use it with a female grown from a feminized seed? I wasn't sure if the feminization process was something done to the seed, or if it was a genetic thing (doubting that one, but hey worth the time to ask).

Also, anyone have any success with breeding on their own? Tips, tricks, and really anything would be appreciated!

Attached a pic of the guy for fun/something for everyone to look at!

-edit- the male is a Maui wowie from nirvana -edit-

Thanks! I have some "older" reg seeds (blueberry I believe) laying around, I'm thinking I may try it out

Last year I crossed a male Grand Daddy Purple with a female [feminized] Blue OG (Blueberry x Blue Moonshine x OG Kush):

I'm no expert, but if the females are Nirvava Mau Waui as well then crossing them with that male might result in some undesired results (eg, inbreeding suppression, random characteristic appearing, etc..).

Ahh, I have a handful of seeds and mother plants (jock horror, WW, raspberry cough, etc) to cross with. How was your experience with the feminized crossing? They use colloidal silver to force females if I've done my homework correctly. Any mutations or weird submissive traits pop up for you?

i would not go anywere near or even look at colloidal silver very very bad shit for you fem seeds is a hoax and always will be even with femed seeds u will get a ratio of 50/50 i have once tryed my hand at femmed seeds by stressing female clones and fucking with light to force them to seed but still got males

I can tell you that it doesn't take much to get a lot of seeds: A few shakes of a branch over one female and ended up with god knows how many hundreds of seeds.

As for mutations, yeah I ended up having weird things happen like sprouting plants grow a set or two of leaves then suddenly no more growth, so the branches below would grow in it's place; basically, the plant would top itself.. Leaves that were twisted and/or deformed is another characteristic. All this happened on about half the plants, but I mind you that I was dealing with blueberry genetics, which is notorious for such strange growth patterns. I'm sure you'll be fine.

Thanks for the input! I actually have a masters in bio, and I spent a decent amount of time working with plants for my thesis. Other than some stretching from inadequate light (the main reason I took the clones was to be able to care for them myself) the male was quite healthy. I have a 400w MH/HPS light already set aside for the clones, and once I get a healthy veg cycle going I'll make my decision on whether or not he's stud worthy

I think you misread what I said. I'm not looking to feminize seeds myself, just breed what I have. I was asking if the silver used to originally feminize the seeds damaged any chromosomes or caused any "birth defects" in the cross.

I've yet to have less than an 80% success rate with my fem seeds from nirvana. Granted that data is from several years ago (took a bit of a break from growing), but the sample size was fairly large as I cracked about 60 seeds (young and dumb, cloning was too much work for me back then)

Thank you both so much for all the info! I really can't praise the community here enough -everyone here is so helpful. I hope this guy pans out, I'm really excited to try my hand at this.

Perhaps in a few months I'll be back with an update for you with some pics of my own hybrids :)
