Day 56...
Flowering Day 1

Big update folks. Pistils are starting to appear. For the last week, I have been reducing the light by one hour every day and today is the first day of 12/12. In addition to that, my six clones I took all have rooted and have been transplanted (with a little difficulty...) to one gallon smart pots with 50-50 super soil and pro-mix/roots organic blend. Unfortunately, I didn't get clones off all five plants so now I took even more clones.

Yesterday I snipped four clones per plant for a total of 20 clones. They're all looking fairly good today and none of them have wilted. My only concern is how close they are to each other, but I have seen more clones packed into a cloner before by professionals so I imagine it will be fine. Hoping for 20/20, this time I won't mess around with them for about a week.

My tea this week is incredibly frothy so the bioactivity is huge, unlike any I've made before. Not sure what the difference was, perhaps it was just the fact I made a larger batch (4 gallons as opposed to 3) or maybe it's the composition of the tea. Not sure, not complaining. I'm going to PH it and use it tonight. Slowly adding more of the Earth Juice Bloom to the mix and tapering down on the Grow.

Without further ado... Here's pics.

Looks good.
Nice Job!!
I will refrain from bashing BD,
IME it is a sturdy, fast grower with a decent immune system and some good results if it's your flavor.

I must say I really enjoy your documentation style, how you put together your write-up is concise and clean. The pictures are good too, good angles.
If someone was struggling with writing their grow journal I would recommend they read your journal here.
Good read.

Thanks, man! I'm curious what you've got against the BD though lol. Grown organically I think it's some of the best herb I've ever smoked, granted, there's a bit of a bias when it's your own smoke. It's definitely a sturdy and faster grower and the yield is pretty excellent for the quality of the smoke from my experience. It loves being topped, bent, and opened up.

This is my first "medical grow" so it's as much for my documentation as others interested in growing. I'm sure I'll look back on this in a year or two, hell even maybe a couple grows, and laugh at some of the mistakes I made! But all in all it's a learning experience for everyone who follows along myself included. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the read and hope you'll stick around through the completion of this crop. Don't be shy, I enjoy the conversation in this thread. Many thanks.

Day 59

Not sure which I prefer - camera flash, or HPS lighting. Let me know what you guys think. There's been some serious growth in just the past 3 days as you can tell... 4x4 square is pretty much filled and now I just have to battle stretch for the next couple weeks. I'm still having a hard time deciding on which phenos to keep. I think five is out, as it has too much sativa qualities to it. Four is lackluster. Three is the earliest to show pistils, has tight internodal branching. One and two are about on par and are overall the largest and most symmetrical. I'll take some individual pictures for the next post and hopefully, I can get some feedback in which one you guys prefer. Obviously, we have another 10-12 weeks to decide the real winner (weight, visual appeal, smell).

P.S. Wow that white paint is bright!

Flowering Day 7

Plant #4

One of my top 3 picks. Looks like very minor nutrient burn, but it doesn't seem to be affecting plant growth, so I'll continue feeding as I have been. This plant has decent internodal length and is a quick grower, one of the larger plants without a doubt. Overall, I did a poor job of canopy management this run but I'll work on mainlining more effectively on my next go.

Plant #3

I really like this plant, height management has been very simple and it has some pretty nice internodal development. I think this will have the largest and most dense flowers, and it responded well to topping. On the other hand, it does appear to be smaller than #1 and #4. Yield will affect this decision pretty strongly.

Continued...

Plant #1

I think this has become my favorite of the five, it started out slowly kind of lagging behind but it seems to have the greatest growth potential. Overall it looks like the top pick right now. There's some spotting on lower leaves, looking light nutrient burn? Just want to get an opinion on it to make sure it's not spider mites, as I've seen small yellow dots associated with them before.

Plant #5

Sativa dominant plant. Not a huge fan of this one, I'm not even sure if I'll go ahead with putting its clones through veg. Seriously stretchy and not very dense, concerned about flowering time. Definitely not a keeper.

Plant #2

This plant is just okay. It's kind of lackluster. I'm thinking that it's possible with better training and topping it could really flourish, but I'm not sure if it could be a keeper.

Day 63 (Plant #2).JPG DSC03871.JPG DSC03873.JPG

So that leaves #1, #3, and #4 as the current top picks. It's possible that may change throughout flower, but I think at this point the assessment is fair.

Leave your feedback!

Flowering Day 15

Flowers are already looking big for two weeks based upon my limited experience. Yet again, plant 3 continues to shine seeming to have the densest buds and appears to be the quickest flowering plant. However, it's a nitrogen hog. It's been shedding lower leaves unlike any of the other plants. Plant 1 is also looking superb. Plant 5 stretched seriously in the last 8 days. Almost too much. Not expecting much from this sativa dom, and it definitely won't make it to the next run as it's clear the flowering time will be a lot longer than the rest. I'm hoping a couple are 10-week phenos but I may take them to 12 all the same.

My clones are going into veg now having just been transplanted from solo cups to one-gallon smart pots, I'll start posting some progress on them as well. I have some very healthy clones and some meh ones, unfortunately, I didn't get any superb clones of plant 3 so I'm a little nervous about it but my clones of plant 1 look amazing. My super soil that's been outside is overrun with fungus gnats so back to battling those little buggers... I'm going to try the potato method of luring the larvae into the potato slices and tossing them every couple days in addition to more mosquito dunks and maybe some neem which I'm not a huge fan of for fungus gnats, but might be worth a shot. Anyway, here's a quick pic during lights off. I'll get some nice bud shots later tonight.

Flowering Day 19

It's pretty fascinating how different their nutrient demands are. Plant One is showing some nutrient burn while Plant Three is dying for nitrogen. I'll have to keep this in mind throughout the next rotation. I think there are going to be some massive main colas on these girls as two or three tops on each plant have very dense clusters of flowers. Might be the biggest colas I've ever grown, how cool would a one ounce cola be?

The sativa dominant plant is ridiculous. Height wise it's a problem but it shouldn't stretch anymore. It clearly is behind in terms of its eventual harvest time, but I must say I am impressed with how many bud sites and actually just how large this plant is. I'd reckon it's somewhere between 30-36 inches at this point. Not sure how the yield will be on it, but it's clear there will be a lot of smaller flowers than the rest which makes trimming more laborious. While I still have clones of it, they won't be making it into the next rotation. Likely the will go outside or be gifted.

Anyway, here's some pictures.

Just a thought, I didnt read whole thread but for a continued grow of a 12 week strain, you can clone every 6 weeks and chop every 6 weeks. Say you did 3 plants at a time, you would have 3 in clone stage, 3 in veg stage and 6 in flower. Ofcourse you would only clone to be in time with the 6 week veg time, but 6 weeks in veg will give you some nice bushy plants for the flower spot.

That's exactly what I'm doing :)

In my not so future set-up I will try every 4 weeks with 3 phases of flowering and 3 of veg. My only concern there is the different nutrient demands of each, but with amendments and teas, it's probably easier than chemical fertilizers.

Yeah, i use a weekly nute formula which makes it easier. (GH3). I seen another grower at Growkind doing the blue dream and its def got my attention. Yours look great. Good job on them!

Thanks man! The problem with teas is the brew time, but in my next setup I'll have enough space to have 3-6 five gallon buckets brewing at once. I think I'll have to start buying the one gallon nutrient bottles though! LOL

I think I might have locked down the perfect grow location. The perfect landlord, perfect layout, perfect price. While it won't be for four months, I just want you guys to know in the future there will be a massive expansion. I still have a lot to learn between now and then, but the way things are looking, shit, it's going to be great. More space primarily and ample amps (see what I did there?) to play with. Now I've just got to start socking away money for the massive investment it'll be... I'm lucky this guy is seriously accommodating.

The girls are looking great. Packing on weight by the day. I'll update with some pictures tomorrow. Trying to get drunk tonight. The future is bright ladies and gentlemen.

Much love and positive vibes.

Tagging along. I loved everything about the HSO Blue Dream when i grew it. Great smoke too. Everyone that tried it liked it but down to only an ounce left in the jar now. I have more of the seeds so all is good but definitely will grow it again. Very nice thread BTW. Really enjoying it.

Glad to have you! I've never heard anyone who smoked the BD I grew previous to this grow complain. That stuff is long gone lol, but the memories live on.
