How effective are lady bugs with pests?

I am about a week from being ready to start flowering my latest crop, and I can't seem to get rid of these damn pests. They are tiny and white (spider mites I am assuming) Using alot of neem oil, but I am still finding little holes in the leaves, as well as a few yellow spots. I spotted a few bugs today, it's hard to spot a ton but when you have a few, most likely you have a ton. I am considering buying 200-300 lady bugs at the local store here, and seeing if you guys had any luck with this method. I also have a pesticide soap that I will be using tomorrow. No webs or anything like that, but I have bugs chilling on my plants without question. Any advice? Also using a Hot Spot pest strip, have heard mixed things about these.

Hi. I tried the lady bug treament. Ended up with 1,500 lady bugs leaving the grow area and into my neighbors backyards. Lets say, it was pretty interesting watching all the neighbors outside wondering where all the lady bugs came from.. heehee. Anyways, it didn't work for me at all. Try some other stuff from the local hydro shop. I just ran out of the stuff I used for the spider mites or I would double check the name for you. It was Bug Off or something like that. It always took care of the mites immediately. Make sure you get the best so they'll be gone before your plants are murdered. That happened to a few of my plants on the first grow. Good luck :peace:

I have not 100% positively id'ed what type of pest I am dealing with though I can I did see a web about a week ago, which leads me to believe it's definitely mites. Hopefully this doesn't turn into a huge problem, I definitely see some yellow spots, though not many. I am going to try the insecticide soap I bought tomorrow, and follow up with a few bombs prior to flowering. Once flowering is induced, I guess my only option is neem oil. I have a friend that does sulfer bombs but I wanted to stay away from that if at all possible.

sounds like mites. they like to hide on the under sides of the leaves. down in the nooks and crannies. use a magnifying glass and you will see them. then you will spend the rest of the night scratching yourself. they are really creepy looking.

They are mites indeed. Just gave a nice foilar spraying with the incesticide soap, hope it works. Boy can you see the webs when you wet the entire plant. At least I am noticing these things quickly, though I fear I will be fighting this problem the entire cycle through. I am considering buying a shit load of lady bugs, but I'm hearing mixed reviews as to weather or not lady bugs can even eat mites

make sure you get the bottoms of the leaves. this is were the eggs are hidden.

Oh I got the bottom leaves, and let me tell you friend... merely misting them will show you just how many webs have been created. A very gross scene indeed... that bothers me. :spew: I am going to stay on these fuckers like white on rice. Ball game is on! I'm going to :hump: them up.

Is don't bug me particularly any better than most other incesticide soaps? I am going to consider buying it shortly because I've heard good things, but it seems like literally every single grower has a different opinion on products associated with getting rid of pests.

Have been told by some mites are too small for lady bugs to eat, others say lady bugs are 100% the best way to get rid of them (not to mention safest and most natural)

when i use don't bug me it turns the mites into powder and i can literally drench clones in it and it doesn't harm the plant.

as far as ladybugs, i've heard they are best for aphids because mites are just to small for the ladybugs big pinchers. i've heard predator mites are the best for spider mites. i do not have first hand experience with predator mites. i used ladybugs but the birds ate most of them. the pirate bugs did an exceptional job as well. they eat mites, thrips, aphids......

No residuals. Pyrethrum breaks down within hours for quick re-entry time.

A very affordable alternative to an exterminator.

Hi pressure fumigator.

One spraying kills exposed stages of mosquitoes, ticks, fleas, cockroaches, ants, spiders, and flies

that's organic Pyrethrum? i like. we've tried numerous bug bombs and none have completely worked. i swear by the don't bug me. to find a comparable product in bomb form is great!!!!!!

Choose from the new compact 2 oz. size Pyrethrum Fogger or the familiar 16 oz. size. Both sizes treat a 3000 square-foot area. Caution: These products contain piperynol butoxide and can be extremely toxic to humans, animals and plants. Follow all instructions on the label, and leave the area for 12 hours during and after fogging.

this is 10X stronger .40 40% very heavy and fogs well breaks down in four to five hours. noticable difference within 24 hours scarce within 6 days.
you may need to bomb every week for 3 weeks to finally remove most mites. careful as they love your clone dome.

Lady bugs are good for aphids like fdd said.Get some preditor mites or praying mantis eggs. These will eat mites and the mantis will eat anything they catch. You get mantis eggs like 1 egg hatches 300 mantis then when your done let em go in the yard and they eat mosiquitos too..Good luck
