Only benefit you could have provided was guidance for not wasting money. This has 20% efficient lights along with 56% efficient lights and will only gain more of the same confusion. If you want a thread that's worth sticking then negate ass clown salesmen from posting how awesome their Mars hydro is. This thread doesn't do that and will be chaos just as the other. Personally I'm tired of typing the same shit over and over again. Users make the site worth visiting and selling advertising for. They generate content, and content generation here is broken.

The problem is everyone has their own likes and dislikes. The bigger problem here though is that too many heads think anything not cob based is junk, which is not true.

Which is why Amare Technologies surrounds each CoB with a ring of complimentary spectrum discrete diodes

Yeah, I wasn't aware of the 12hour rule. So what we could do is refine the list in this thread, then repost it and get that stickied. Unless you have a better suggestiong. The original thread is 100% useless. The point of this thread isn't to point out which lights are better or not, it is just to consolidate info. Though I think it would be nice to have recommendations.

Problem still is there's dudes running amuck posting that cheap Chinese panels are doing so awesome... So you'll have that to contend with.

I suggest you group them in efficency groups. Like
70-60% this light and that light

60-40% this light and that light

Then the cheap shit....

It isn't me you're mad at I don't make the decisions I just relay the message from the owner

But I can tell you it's absolutely far fetched if you think your ability to not edit is the reason for lack of advertising or revenue

Every section of this site has groups that are only in that section and every one of those sections says they are the reason we generate money the reality is no section is the one and only reason and if people leave due to their own personal forum preferences new people come

No single user or group of users will take down Riu and make it a dead forum

Not sounding harsh but that's the reality of it

Sounds like some users need their own personal website's where they can have their own control of their information sharing monopoly.
What everyone needs to realize is that there is constantly new people entering the forums and you can't expect to not see the same things come up over and over from new members and to expect them to find some thread or post in a thread from a year ago or whatever is not realistic.
New members are excited as fuck when they find this place and of course the questions are going to fly.
You can choose to ignore newbs and not participate in their discussions but that doesn't mean the same questions can't or shouldn't be asked over and over.
Plus, what cob was cool this week is undesirable junk being shot with a bee bee gun next week

I know man, it's just frustrating. I doubt it even affects any subforum but this one, which changes at the pace of technology, but the heart of this place is original research by a small group of people, most of whom have left. It's just unweildy.

I don't expect people to to stop visiting, it will just morph into "what light can I buy from China to grow dank weed" lowest common denominator stuff, which is a real shame.

The brains are what makes this place fun. One glance at this thread is all it takes to see it, where a newbie wants to help out and makes the mistake that we have modern features to keep his post up to date.

Or the "Top bin comparison 2" thread where @BOBBY_G has 10 versions of his graphs spread out between comments on those graphs, soon to be replaced and updated again a day later.

Or @Malocan 's thread which is just one iteration after another of data from his spectrometer, shown in progressively more useful ways. And this is just the front page from memory.

Anyway, I get it. But the people driving traffic here, like @Growmau5 are asking for changes for a reason.

I'm done, can't say I won't mention it again, but I won't whine about it. This thread will be buried in a day anyway.

I think you are agreeing with me? If this post was a sticky and could be updated we would still have 3629 posts like the current stickied thread, but only one post for the new guy to start his research with.

To be clear, when I said I was tired of posting the same shit over and over again, I meant graphs, excel screenshots, crap like that. Slighty updated/improved versions of the same old crap that is indistinguishable for somebody searching from ancient stuff.

No editing after 12 hours is awesome, it prevents a lot of shenanigans. Just not for top posts. It's not about an information monopoly, it's about helping people more effectively.

Yeah exactly. It seems crazy you can't update even just the first post of a thread. Info changes and sometimes very quickly. What's the point of a stickied post if it can't be updated.

I will still work on consolidating the list, and categorizing it somehow. Please keep the suggestions and Light company links coming.

Also the new grow light company is meaningless. You'd need to update this often. Just because a company is new doesn't mean they're worth a shit.

Yeah, if we end up trying to get a stickied post I would remove it. Personally I think that NEW is particularly useful and interesting. I like to see what new tech there is and where the industry is headed. The vast majority of companies are going to be second rate, new or otherwise. It's still nice to see the ones you haven't seen or heard of before. Like Johnson.

Well Johnson Isn't new.

As for new LEDs new companies and new tech..... Well northern grow lights is the only new as they're doing the citizen cobs now and timber is using red spectrum Osram LEDs.

So again new section is redundant. A new company can offer old tech and an old company can offer new tech.

Nothing's really new. Guys have been playing with colors for over 5 years now. So maybe you'll read a site and all the hype but no ones doing anything new. The greatness of the evolving LEDs is with new development in LEDs were getting more efficient and any grow light company can implement these new LEDs.

So what's new is done at the base of the big manifactures like Cree Osram citizen and so on.

Right, I agree. I just intended to list companies that have just started selling in the last 6 months or so, that there is not a lot known about or experience using. I still think its a useful and interesting category. If other people agree with you, I will remove it.
