Depends on the cost of the "micro canopy" license i currently grow on 8 cards so if its cheaper than that i guess i could see myself moving over to it. Although growing rec on a license like this comes with alot of other unwanted stuff

Doesn't sound like a bad idea...is it required for the grow site location to have been registetered prior to the mentioned dates, or simply that the registrant have been apart of the program before the alotted date?

@Explosive- your currently growing on 8 cards? I thought it was a 4 max now on the cards. I only grow on 2 cards now so expanding to 1250 sq ft. canopy would be amazing for me. Im selling to the dispensaries, so Im very concerned how everything will play out with the licenses. Will I be able to still sell to dispensaries with just my 2 med cards, maybe I will only be able to sell to medical dispensaries and not recreational dispensaries? Who knows but seems there trying to push medical growers who are not getting the rec license over to this "micro canopy" license. Licenses like this will come with alot of unwanted stuff but if your selling to dispensaries and not getting rec license then this seems like next best thing. Could be wrong.

@rekoj- It seems like the grow site must be registered with, ok wait, everytime I read this bill I just get more confused. So Im not sure about the grow site location but its looks like the site would have to be registered with the Oregon Health Authority before Jan 1 2015, otherwise you would have to get a land use compatibility statement.

Whatever, this shit is confusing and stuff changes daily it seems.

I am personally only listed on 4 of the cards but i do all the growing for all 8 cards

From what the stores i sell to told me even after the changes they will still buy all my stuff so i'm not sure i need a rec license. If this micro canopy license is anything like the other licenses they are giving out you will need to get cameras and a ton of other shit which i don't really care to do.

That would be great if stores still bought all your stuff even without a rec license. If these are rec dispensaries then they will only be able to buy from a licensed rec grower or licensed "micro canopy" grower who tracks seed to sale with the OLCC. Again, could be wrong but Im under the impression that you will not be able to sell to dispensaries with just a medical license once these rec licenses are given out.
Heres a little piece I got from a High Times article--

The second bill signed by the governor, Senate Bill 1598, seeks to attract smaller medical growers into the regulated recreational market by removing a paperwork requirement when applying for a license. This so-called micro-canopy license comes with lower fees and fewer requirements.

Im not into getting cameras and all that stuff either so hopefully the fewer requirements means alot fewer requirements.

Are dispensaries not able to be both medical and rec?

Im not really sure. I know there are cities that are not allowing rec, so dispensaries in those cities will remain strictly medical. Can you still be a medical grower and sell to medical only dispensaries? Maybe. However, with these rec licenses you will be required to track everything from seed to sale with the OLCC, so Im unclear on how this would work with selling to medical dispensaries. Would we not have to track anything and still be able to sell to medical dispensaries?

When I first heard of this "micro canopy" license I thought of it as the OLCC doing a favor for medical growers who were not applying for the rec license. I thought they were basically getting rid of the medical grower who sells his extra to dispensaries by offering this other license and bringing more medical growers into the rec market.

I'm not entirely sure about this but when you apply for your ommp card there is a thing on the bottom where you have to pay an additional fee to be able to sell your extra to the dispensary.
The grower must submit a $200 grow
site registration fee if one or
more of the following is true:
The grower on the application is not also the patient on the application;
The grow site address is not the patient’s residence;
The grow site address has more than
12 mature medical marijuana plants;
ORThe grower (patient or other) is transferring medical marijuana products to an OMMP
dispensary/processing site.

I live close to a town that is not allowing rec so all the dispensaries there are medical only. Im going to talk too a few of them and try to get some answers. I will let you know what I hear.

Ah see i think that is what it will be. Some area's (mostly eastern oregon and maybe douglas county depending on how the vote goes) won't allow rec so those will be medical only. I called the place i take my herb to today and they told me they will be doing both on December 31st so as far as i know that will be the case

Could be wrong tho

Your right about paying the $200 grower fee and being able to still sell to medical dispensaries, along with this we will have to track our stuff every month with the OHA. This clears up alot for me. I was confused because I had not heard about the grow site fee or the medical tracking, only the rec tracking. I will stick to the medical for now and see how the "micro canopy" license plays out.

yea I could be wrong about this but i think most stores are currently medical but given a free opt in to rec till the end of the year where they will have to pay all the fee's on that

I did not see anything about video surveillance with the medical license. The only rule I saw was reporting to OHA monthly how much marijuana you dropped at dispensaries.

Hey all, little addendum that's somewhat on topic: as those of you who are registered growers will see, the OHA sent out a note clarifying who needs to setup a reporting account. It boils down to: you need to set up an account if you sell your excess medicine to Medical processors/dispensaries. If you plan to sell your product to the recreational processors/dispensaries you'll need a micro license. And if your location you grow at has more than 12 plants (or isn't a patient's residence), or you grow for someone other than yourself then you need to sign up for an online reporting account at ommpsystem.oregon.gov .

I'm going to continue to grow just for myself in my side yard as that's how I roll. In theory come harvest I could sign up for an account if I end up with too much cannabis. But as cities are pushing the legal boundries on what they're allowed to ban, I'm stockpiling as my town is likely to follow medford's lead if medford doesn't get smacked down...

Can you link where it says that i'll need a micro license? Its pretty much a gray area as they haven't just come out and say it yet as far as i know.

The micro license is for selling to recreational dispensaries (and is part of the OLCC, I've not found it spelled out yet, but I'm also not searching aside from casually). The letter I'm reporting about is one Oregon Health Authority sent out may 4th (mine came yesterday) which is about which medical growers need to sign up for Online reporting (with a first report due in July of 2016 for June 2016 transfers). you can see it at http://public.health.oregon.gov/DiseasesConditions/ChronicDisease/MedicalMarijuanaProgram/Pages/reporting.aspx down where it says "Reporting requirements for growers" Odds are that'll cover more visitors to this site than the micro licenses...
