You sure you don't work for them every post you I see from you so far sounds like promotion for them. Nothing wrong with that they are cool looking lights. I do wish they showed their footprints.
I read some of their such. To me it feels like they are saying mcob is better than cobs? You feel that way as well?

This? I don't think they mean to say MCOB are better than COB. Just stating some changes perhaps. They were weighing options to launch a new product but are looking for feedback on what growers want as far as specs goes. It seems to me like people want more CREE instead of the Epistar/Epileds. I don't know how the cree's compare to the current chips in the GrowthStar Spider as I haven't tested it to see solid actual results. If someone could do that it would be great... But as far as COB/MCOB vs HPS, I have their dropbox link that a few htousand HD photos. LED wins obviously.

Mars claims they use 5W (not sure why they would because most 5W LED's lose 10-30% light efficiency after a year from being too hot (too much wear and tear).
Their real watts are 2.5-2.8w.
Their chips are NOT COB (chip on board) so their spectrum blending is not as tight. COB/MCOB lights have a perfectly blended light which is much better for plants...

I've seen plenty of Mars Hydro videos. They are fine and I know plenty of growers using both Mars and GrowthStar Spiders. You can get a good result with just about any LED if others are able to.. But to me it is like going from driving a Toyota to a BMW/Benz. Ok, maybe an exaggeration, but the point is I would rather pay more to get a healthier plant and longer usage.
How long have you been using your Mars for? Has it been 3 years yet? I'm sure their products are working great. They are the dominant company in the LED grow light industry (for the discount section as well).
Your opinion means little because you couldn't afford to buy one. It has nothing to do with the results as there are plenty of people that have invested in hundreds of units to fill their grow rooms with. If it did suck they wouldn't have invested that much money to do so when there are other cheaper/potentially better units out there which there may be. Nobody has really ever done a true side by side with all the most popular lights out there. Something I would like to help arrange someday.

I like the extra attention to detail that the GrowthStar Spider lights have. Mars is a great introductory light and at the price, it cannot be beat! But some people want to spend a bit more to get a slightly healthier plant. There are also those who want to spend even more and go for something really high end. It's all personal preference.
Did you know COBGrowLights gives away a free grow light every month to their subscribers? It's kind of sad to insult a business because they didn't give you a free sample. They need to make money to make better products and stay in business - make a profit. Mars got a good start by ripping people off with shotty lights and no returns - at least that was how the story went. No company is perfect.

Cob Grow Lights gave one to the dude over at http://ledgrowlightguide.com/growthstar-spider-4x-200w-mcob-led-grow-light-review
They also gave a bunch of GrowthStar Spiders And Scorpions to the guys at BCBUDDEPOT who built some custom wood frame structures out on the island off of British Columbia Canada to grow their medical plants (and yes they are licensed). There are posts and pictures of that on the cobgrowlights website.
They also gave 1600watts worth to another third party tester in Vancouver. You can see some videos on their youtube channel.
All in all, solid light that works (better than Mars in my opinion). People who claim to not like blurple are just butthurt they didnt get a free sample to test out. If they really wanted one they would buy one.
I know that the COs Finest dude on youtube had a free sample a year or so ago and hes still using them. The company plans to give more of their lights to people like everest from just4growers and other popular youtubers who can make professional videos so if you are someone like that with a following of around 5000-10000 subscribers or more shoot me a pm and I will give them my recommendation for you to be a tester. They will most likely ignore your email if you ask without a recommendation since they get bombarded by cheapskates everyday.

So i am really impressed with coco. the amount of growth on the GDP is crazy
here they were 8 days ago:
here they are today, only a week of growth on the 1gallon every 1 or other day depending on their growth schedule. i cant believe the size of some of these fan leaves! Also topped them today.
I also simplified my dripper/sprinkler system. Basically hydroponic store (at least in the oc area are absolute trash for anything other than lighting on soil/nutrients. Everything else is cheaper at your local home depot store, and they wont try to sell you on a $700 "irrigation system that is a must have".
Basically i got a 8 nozzle flow regulated module from home depot for $8, connected it to 8 drip rings i made myself with cheap 1/4 barbed tee fittings, poked 7 holes in each.
Now for the pump. SUBMERSIBLE PUMPS ARE SHIT IN THIS APPLICATION. They do not produce enough pressure to support pressure compensators or any drip equipment that has flow regulation. best one i could find was a submergible 1500gph pump with only 20.1ft of heat - around 8psi!! the minimum on the emitters is 10psi. Absolute trash, the hydro guy was trying to sell it like it was all i needed. $130. absolute trash. I went and returned it.
Basically after a ton of researh on pumps, and irrigation, i realized a submirgible is not going to do what i need. I got a strong yet cheap ($80) transfer pump from harbor freight. and because the pump cannot be dead headed, i simply put a Y connector thats adjustable ($3 from home depot) and had the out line from the pump line go into that splitter, and had one end simply go back into the resivor, and the other end to the 8 outlset module. and boom, done. I can adjust pressure by opening/closing the return hose increasing pressure to the module. getting the same amount of water/nutrients to each plant!
I really hope this can help someone when trying to put together a irrigation system that pulls form a resivoir ( we use a 32gallon trash can we just rinse out ($15). i had a bit of trouble trying to find any single thread or article to really help me with what to use for a pump etc and maybe this might shed some light on the field. I spent about $200 for the whole irrigation setup.

I've never had a problem using submersible but your set up is gangster. I'm debating going to coco or if I should just use hydroton for my dwc clones. I'm think wrapping the net pots in panda film to keep the roots in the hydroton and from coming out until they're ready for the buckets and just putting them on a drip system or if I should split my ebb ND flow setup into 6 individual "cubicles" to grow their roots into so the roots don't intertwine.

Interesting, i tried 2 different submergible pumps and they both just didn't have the pressure! They would just dribble out in only one spot, and each plant was getting different amounts of water because the pump couldn't produce more than 10psi, which is the minimum for pressure compensating drip regulators to work!
We tried 2 emitters per plant, 1 emitter per plant, we tried spacing the emitters out on the mainline more, we tried everything and i realized we just needed a better pump.
As far as the coco goes it is pretty damn awesome so far, hand watering them everyday would be a bitch without a system (especially if you are scrogging). I might go up to DWC next but coco seems like a great middle-ground to practice precise feeding schedules and reading ppm, runoff etc. Although i have read that you do not want intertwining roots, so based on my little knowledge i would say you should avoid that.
