From start too finish...about $600.00.Small tent, 400w cool tube, booster fan, in-line fan/filter combo, seeds, soil, nutes, smart pots, ph tester, watering can, ph down, ducting, measuring tape, PVC pipe and connectors, a ball of twine, rope ratchets, cable ties, ambient air fan, ducting tape and clamps, electrical cords and adapters, light timer...and a few other odds and ends....

All that said...With the amount of cannabis I go through, it will have paid for itself with my first harvest.

It isn't the amount of money spent that grows great medicine, it is the amount of knowledge learned by the grower.<<<I like that...should have it copywrited.

Anyway, I have seen growz done in cardboard boxes with CFL bulbs, that knocked my socks off. I have also seen $1,000s of dollars spent on hydro tables, drums of nutes, 4 or more 1,000w lights etc etc...fail due to an inexperienced grower who spent more time shopping than learning how to grow. Lesson learned.

Good Luck and Great Growz

Agreed, good equipment certainly helps though. I'm hoping to get even more equipment here soon to hold up to 50 plants in one room

Cant really tally how much cause it seems im always picking stuff up here and there. Plus ive replaced old equipment with new stuff. Have tried led lights and mh/hps. Spent quite a bit of change so far. But it's paid off tremendously with good smoke, exotic strains, get to pass out some to friends and keep a few dollars in my pocket to cover extra lights. Best hobby ive EVER had.

I spent $150 on a secondhand 400w hps light with batwing reflector and magnetic ballast(that was 5+ years ago now,)
everything else i've just had lying around...
Over the years i have only spent around 70$ worth of nutrients...\

I also used no money in The current set up i have for the Blue mammoth auto. except for 10$ on the airpump.

You should buy a new light. That bulb will be shit after 4 years solid use.

Budget Buds

I'm on a budget , I try to do everything DIY to save money , Hence the name budget buds lol . When I first started out I went and bought a cabinet from walmart. brick pack seeds, cfl lights and cpu fans. I spent less then a hundo and made enough to pay for it 16 times over in about 4 months. Now it is different, I use high quality nutrients, the best strains my patients like, good lights etc. I supply 5 patients for two months in a 40 inch x 40 inch tent that produces 32 ish ounces every 50 - 55 days. It was less then 1000 to start, now it is only about 300 to produce 32 oz every two months My overages are the main issue, I usually get rid of less then 16 ounces in 2 months and when the new crop is chopped I'm still sitting on another 16 oz. usually by the end of the year I still have about 5 or 6 pounds in reserve " just in case". So for a year it is about 3600 to 4600 bucks to produce 12 lbs on average.

I dunno... but... I started with a store bought tent in Aug 2011 and since then I've sold that and built a small room, 9X5, which I tore down and rebuilt twice...lol

What I do know is that since Aug 2011 I've spent about 18.5k on all kinds of shit, including two Solar Storm 440s that I used once and sold...lol

Finally, for my current grow, I didn't buy anything except dirt and nutes... add electricity to that and this grow should cost less than 1k.

Surprisingly electric hasn't been as bad as I expected when I first started growin. I run 3 600w lights two of them for 24 hours and one for flowering and all my other electricity on top of that and Bill looks around $150-200. Soil and nutes is the shit that was really putting dents in my wallet lol totally unexpected

Hmmm.... I run a T5 for clones and 2 dimmable 1000s for veg and flower... my highest bill for electricity has been $70 (1500 kwhs total for grow only in a month, not the rest of the house).

Your electricity seems pricey....

I've spent more on soil then anything, but after about 10 seasons that's bound to happen.
Thinking about switching to coco coir myself. At least mixing 50% with soil to cut soil costs down. Or just growing 100% coco and reusing.
