$10.50-$12.50/hour phased in over 3-5 years
Well I can't argue those numbers, because that's about what I do now. Now A family of three would still have a hard time with those numbers. AT 12 an hour on a 40 hour work week that man would only bring home about 24,960 a year. Are we taxing ?

I think an individual living on Missouri prices can make that work. For a bare minimum, I think that's a somewhat reasonable starting point both sides shouldn't have trouble compromising on. What's clear is that $7.25/hour is absolutely unreasonable.

I'd implement a more progressive tax system

Like I said you get no argument from me on the numbers

@Padawanbater2 It seems ttystisky got ghost on me. Do you care to answer. How much should the minimum wage be for a worker with a wife and child ?
So a worker's marital status and number of dependents is a factor in pay now? More social engineering ready to fully fucking backfire... Take cover Catholics, jobs are gonna become scarce!!

If everyone in the company of 100 was making minimum wage you just increased the costs to the business by $600,000 per year before matching taxes... I am sure that no business owner is going to care... Especially if the business is making like $200,000 in profits... You know, they will just suck it up an continue to operate at a $400,000 loss due to the newfound compassion of those evil business owners. You know, cause raising costs causes love.... Or something...

You could use this same poor argument to justify slave wages in China

Americans are being paid wages that require them to utilize welfare programs just to live, they're being subsidized by the taxpayers because their employer pays them so little. If a business can't afford to pay higher than slave wages, that business shouldn't be doing business in the first place

Actually I said the exact opposite of that
What is clear is you are dictating wages without regards to the business. And your solution is the business does not deserve to operate if it cant pay a living wag

Obamacare kicks in after you work 40 hours a week. Suddenly employers are only keeping people on 38 hours a week.

What do you think would happen if the number of dependents and marital status became a cost factor in employment? Do you think it would matter to those greedy businessmen? If it costs them 2* as much to pay a guy with a family of 6 rather than a single guy who do you think is gonna get a job?

If you want people to get paid 10.50 an hour then go build a business and pay them 10.50 an hour.
If you want the minimum wage to remain at $7.25/hour, you don't get to complain about welfare recipients or things like nationalized health care or college

I want the minimum wage to be eliminated so people can reach employment agreements without government interference...

This is for a single individual, a wife and kids is irrelevant to the numbers I suggested

If the minimum wage were eliminated, employers would pay employees even less. You want to revert back to a regressive state of employment that favors the business owner at the expense of the rights of the employee

"Wage slavery refers to a situation where a person's livelihood depends on wages or a salary, especially when the dependence is total and immediate."

All persons livelihood depends upon wages or a salary unless you are on welfare or being taken care of by your parents. Wage slavery is a bullshit propaganda term that you have yet again attached yourself to.

It's a situation that doesn't allow for growth or savings. It ties people to a paycheck out of necessity for survival. This is unacceptable when the economic prosperity is being concentrated in the hands of a few at the expense of the many.
