slightly purple pheno of Dr. Who... Day 47 and she's almost ready! saw my first amber trich on it yesterday. think this one is gonna be a 50-53 day runner. ...
If I had to choose between any single pack of seeds on the current TGA menu right now.. and was going to pop an entire pack to go on a pheno hunt.. It would be on the Dr Who for sure.

Here is a Dr Who pic posted by another grower, not on RIU, not on a forum.. but posted elsewhere on the Internet.. his keeper that he claims to have found while only running what I believe he said was a half a pack of seeds...

Dr Who by GeekMike

Seeing that photo was truly inspirational. What a shot! The Mad Scientist used in the cross there isn't much documented info online except that it won an award in Oregon at a Medical Cup a couple years back... it is not the same strain that goes by the same name "Mad Scientist" offered by Breeders Choice Seed Co. and sold by Sannies Seeds.. this was confusing to some people I knew in the beginning when it was released ans we were trying to look up the lineage/parental information.. there is very little information online re: the mother used to make Dr Who. All I know is that when you try to find info... Google leads you to see that the winner of the Cup who entered Mad Scientist, a guy named Ray Browser, has won multiple Oregon Medical Cannabis Cups from his entries of it. He won another award recently for entering Dr Who. Homegrown Natural Wonders is a family run legal grow/family farm located in Oregon. Their website indicated that they regularly produce flowers that test over 30% THC.

Quote taken from their site...
"MAD SCIENTIST taking back-to-back wins in 2011 and 2012, but then losing the crown to its own progeny in 2013, when DR WHO (MAD SCIENTIST X TIMEWRECK) took the top spot."-HGNW

Next time I snatch a pack of TGA seeds.. it'll be Dr Who for sure.

Geek Mike has a killer Chernobyl pheno also.
Yea I think I remember seeing that.

I actually just re-acquired the Chernobyl "Golden Ticket" cut the other day.. I had it before but never got to flower her before I had to pull the plug on my entire operation a couple years ago.

The buddy of mine who lives across town here has flowered her out multiple times since then and I have gotten to see it up close and personal many times. Wonderful genetics.

Here is my old Chernobyl from seed.. not the Golden Ticket.. but a great pheno.. and was found from popping just a single seed.. I got real lucky on that one.,.

What's funny is.. right around the time I got the opportunity to snatch the Golden Ticket cut.. I had just literally purchased a pack of Chernobyl from the Tude.. lol.. life can be funny like that sometimes.

I have never seen a bad grow of Chernobyl! Golden Ticket - that is the one!

My pheno of Jesus OG was amazing. Stickiest frostiest buds I have ever grown. It was like super glue. I had to stop trimming it because it was gumming up my scissors so fast.

Cheers,
Mo

Anyone know anything about these? I've had em a while now.

Couldn't find much info. Maybe a tester that never made the light of day?

They do definitely have my interest tho. Timewreck was so much fun to grow.

I've grown a Raspberry Kush cross by another breeder named Greyskull that was pretty good. This should be better tho I would imagine.

Don't remember.

It was not very long ago. I had testers of the Marion Berry before it released.

Cheers,
Mo
sweet! marionberry was one of the first attractions for me from TGA. haven't had the chance to grow any yet. it's gotta be killer just from what i see on TGA site...

My testers had all kinds of problems (Sub said it smelled like his third dimension). They seem to have figured them out and now everybody I know who grows them gets sweet berry plants.

I really want to get the Brianberry Cough going in Vegematrix vs Fish/Kelp/Worms and see which one is better.

i'm really stoked to run the vegamatrix all the way through. a good friend of mine has really nice product with it. killer flavor; great yields. i've got 4 identical sized and shaped black domina; i'm thinking about putting one in my first no till bed, and run the other 3 with the vegamatrix. sounds like a good time to me :)

the guy i just got the querkle from said his buddy has some brianberry seeds that he never started because he too had the PM and shut everything down. I'm trying to get those seeds in my hand ASAP before someone else gets them lol. i'm gonna bug him about them again soon...

A 5 pack is all you should have to run in order to find a keeper pheno of any strain in the TGA library.... You may not get the "as advertised/described" pheno or the one everyone is looking for on the interweb.... But you will find a dank pheno in a 5 pack based on the 50/50 M to F ratio that in the right conditions will lean heavily to the female sex side and usually leave you with 3 or more female phenos to pick from... For a while I used to crack 2 tga beans at a time because any more females than that was a headache when it came to getting and keeping clones in the meantime of the rest of my op.

I also am a firm believer in the idea that you cant base the decision to keep a pheno or not off the seed run of it.. The seed run of a mature female should be classified as only a preview of possibilities of what may be. You'd be surprised how many "keeper" phenotypes of strains we've all let go based on from seed only runs, myself included.... Additional maturation time is beneficial rather than what most of us do the with new seeds the minute we see they've reached sexual maturity...(flower them)... I think quite a few of nugbuckets grows can be a testament to that because he normally vegges plants from seed (once sexed by force flowering them briefly) much longer than most people due to his style of growing... Just because a female has sexed and can technically be flowered, most should be given some additional veg time to mature. And regardless of the seed runs results, each of female from seed should be cloned, labeled and ran again in clone form until you are able to grow that pheno from seed to sow with no deficiencies or anything like that.... Unless the one and only thing that causes a plant IMO to be culled before is if the herm trait pops up.... In a lot of cases it is the growers fault and can not be attributed to the genes, but if you have a solid proven grow room, you'll know if its your or your ops fault, or the genetics themselves.

Heres a few examples of what very few seeds will get you... Theres 2 different phenos of "The void" which came from 2 seeds I planted at one time, more than a year ago or better, which are the more colorful plants.... And my pennywise, which is still green at the end as this pic was from my first run of her from clone and I see already shes not heavy eater... The penny was more of a sob story of mine.... I planted 30 beans (15 at one time, and 15 at another) and this is the lone plant that I got out of 10 packs of "The flav, pennywise, and querkle.... All my fault, nothing to do with the genetics and in no way am I complaining... Its what you get when life gives you the shaft and you lose sight of whats important to you.... I havent had the penny tested but Im gonna hold out hope its the high cbd pheno or one with a higher than average cbd ratio...

All grown in supersoil with my own variations here and there, no liquid anything other than molasses at a few points...

Usually yes.. I however did not have this much luck with Jillybean or Pandoras Box. I had bought 5 packs of each and never found a single Jillybean pheno worthy of writing home about.. in fact I had encountered mostly males and a wretched "smelly armpit pheno"... it does exist... with Pandoras Box.. similar results.. mostly males which is so non-typical of any of the TGA gear.. but it did happen. Usually when I pop a pack of TGA seeds I can get mostly females and or twins that add more females depending on the strain.. so I still am a farm believer of dropping/popping an entire pack if you want to really find a keeper.. run all 10. Because sooner or later it will happen to you that your luck will run out. With TGA gear I usually get 60-70% females.. this was not the case with Jillybean or Pandoras Box.

it's funny that you mentioned the "Void." I actually received a free pack of that when it was released from Subcool.. ran it and it was my least favorite TGA strain at the time. My phenos mostly tasted of butane and cracked pepper. Nothing like I expected. It was potent and yielded well..but noting fruity at all about those.. at least not mine. I really disliked it.

On the flipside however.. I've popped one single seed, or 2 at a time..of other strains and come across amazing phenos without even trying to look. My single seed grow of Chernobyl produced a better looking pheno than anyone at the time was showing online.. that pheno was incredible. Have had similar luck with a couple of other strains too...when i used to only grow 10 plants at a time.. I would pop one of these.. couple of these.. etc.. try to show some diversity in the lineup.. but when it all comes down to it.. it's still simple probability. If you''re growing 10 plants from some really good genetics you are bound to find at least a couple of really nice looking gals that hold some special traits.. might not be the specific strain you are looking for.. but with seeds they can't all be winners.. they can't all be rockstars.

& then there's that really special one... the one plant that you find that is maybe 1 out of 100. The keeper that you consider to be a true elite. The plant that you come across and you never want to let go. I've only had a few of those in the 10 years I've been growing indoors. My old Space Princess which was a Sputnik 1 x C99... and my current Bodhi A11g, as well as my current Starfighter f2... phenotypes so special that you know that if you lose it, it would be damn near impossible to find again without running multiple packs over and over... which may not be possible due to the availability of the seeds.

I'm currently on a pheno hunt for a nice purple plant that is was reminiscent of a pheno of Jackpot Royale that I had. I popped a pack of Alphakronik's Cheshire Kush, the entire pack as well as 6 of his Snozzberry to create a small pool of contenders that I am running with the only intention and goal of finding the best one. The LVPK pheno I saw from the Jackpot Royale was absolutely amazing in all regards. Very dense, short, finished fast, had a grapey, berry like smell. I really liked it. When I saw the lineage for the Cheshire Kush.. I jumped on it immediately.

To me the thrill of the hunt is half the fun of growing. But then again, I am a hobbyist. I do this strictly for fun.

"IT STARTS WITH A SEED." but in this case it starts with 20 Grape Inferno! 36 hours after planting, 20 for 20.View attachment 3514753
I'm not into anything grape when it comes to mary jane, but after looking into this strain you might convert me. I like the way Sub describes the high, he "took only two small hits and was smiling like a fool." He also describes it as calming, but very potent. Love me some happy weed that puts me on my ass. Sounds just like that 3D(tropical pheno) high I can't stop raving about.

I love growing from seed! I got 7 TimeWreck females from seed that will soon be going into flower and that was out of 15. You get to find YOUR keeper pheno and not just some clone that every tom/dick and harry has.
this is why i recently started going for seeds. I was tired of having to depend on getting a good cut from someone to hang on to, and then you aren't the only one with the cut. started popping subs seeds for my first time. been loving it so far. I just got a querkle cut, so i can't wait to grow it out.
