Hey everyone, if I'm growing sativa and the flowering phase is lineger, how do I KNOW when it's the last 2 weeks of flowering. I'm adding Kool Bloom granules at the end and I'm not sure how you know when the time is right. Namaste

Ugh sativa! You are in for a long wait. I had a sativa my 3rd season into growing (it was bagseed) and it went from March to December.......never flowered......
Also, I started seeing leafhoppers today. Any tips on how to get rid of them?

Hey Johnny Vapor, its raining here in my part of the state. At what point do I get concerned about too much? I have sativa and still have long road ahead. Thanks

I tried sativa twice in successive years (Reeferman Bodhi Sativa and Willie Nelson) and took them to late November and early December, respectively, only because of our drought. That doesn't stop the ground from getting too cold to continue the grow though and they never finished. I'm at 38 degrees North, if you're near the Mexico border, or in Mexico, you'll get them to finish. As far as the last 2 weeks of flower; I'd mark the calendar for 14 weeks and it could be more. As far as leafhoppers; I've never had much concern, they don't do much damage and being outdoors, there are a lot of natural predators to eliminate them. I'm fortunate to be in an area that doesn't have mites (spider or russet),...yet.

Thank you Topcat, I'm 44 degrees north. Did u mean mark the calendar at 14 weeks done or 14 weeks give it the booster? I wanna use a boost but don't know when. Thanks

14 from the beginning of flower. Stop fertilizing at least 2 weeks before then. You just feel old... I AM old! Gardening is a satisfying hobby, keep it up and keep learning.

Wow, I do have a long road til harvest! I'm in the willamette valley in Oregon, and its insane the amount of rain we get! Got a storm last night, which they loved but how do I finish the season with so much rain and being outdoor?

So if I flush 2 weeks before harvest when do I give the bloom boost ( Kool Bloom) ? And is it a 1 time thing ? I'm lost as to how u use the booster, ugh!!!

The only real way to determine the end of flower is under magnification checking the trichome phase. If a true sativa landrace or near landrace trich's at 2wks to go will be almost all cloudy, if one of the many hybrids that are sativa dom then they will finish in the 8 to 10w period and the trichs will be 80%/20% cloudy / clear, generally once amber trichs start to show up there's a wk or so to go. if your just looking at them without magnification, at end of flower you'll see the white hairs darken and recede. Recede being the key sign.

As mentioned several times before, go slow. Excess ruins more plants than anything else. You've mentioned many different nute regimes, if you haven't bought a bunch of bottles just get a complete all in one nute veg and or flower. I prefer powdered over liquid because a little goes a long way and they don't degrade over time. Again with the keep it simple, I wouldn't play with bloom boosters for a few grows, for the small % increase in yield it isn't worth playing with until you've seen the grow pattern..

Best of luck with your grow.

My plants lost their smell going into second week of flower. Does anyone have any idea why? I accidentally gave them to much bud enhancer, can this be the reason?
My strawberry smells absolutely amazing. Berry with a sweet soil overtone. Yet my 2 sour diesels smell like nothing. Except lettuce. It is what it is. Im sure it will danken up with time

Thanks for sticking with me ABM, I feel like a giant dumb ass newbie! Someone told me and could swear I read it but my plants are indica dom pheno! Not sativa. GDP and Lemon Kush. I knew the Kush was, but anyway, they're looking BEAUTUFUL and smelling lovely! I can't figure out how to post pics yet. So I just got a 60-100x magnifying scope and trichomes are clear/milky. I'm outdoor, do u know the grow time for GDP and peak time to harvest? Is it the same theory of 1/2 milky, 1/2 Amber? So glad I have you, I wish u were closer, I think we'd be good friends.
