outdoor grow tent

hello, i am new to growing and need some feedback on some ideas i have for a grow system.

My first thought was to purchase this:

http://www.thelashop.com/catalog/48x24x60-inch-Indoor-Outdoor-Garden-Hydroponics-Grow-Tent-Box-p-501.html

and set up a grow tent outside running power to it through extension cords and using a GrowUFO 90 W LED for a light b/c i hear they can replace a 400w hps and are very effective.

Otherwise I was considering building my own tent if the above retail one was shitty, but I am looking to have 12 plants.

My questions are: would one Grow UFO support the healthy growth of 12 plants or would i need additional lights? Also, what would be a necessary size of a tent if i built it myself to support the 12 plants? FYI I am growing during the spring season where it is typically 65 degrees F+ all the time so temperature outside would not be a problem. My biggest concern is having a weather resistant tent in order to make sure that my electricity does not get interrupted.

thanks

why do you want to grow in a tent outside? sunshine is free and you can yeild many times more per plant if you plant in ground. answer yourself this question before you proceed any further with this plan. what would it look like to someone if they seen a grow tent in the woods with an extension cord running to it?

thats not the problem. my power source is a ground outlet located within some brush for cover. It is completely hidden, and I am in a private development so it is considered trespassing for anyone. I want to do the tent outside because I want an indoor growing environment, but I cant do it in my house. I dont have time to bother with outdoor growing because the plants i have wont harvest until october. I want a speedy grow but I have to do it outside.

i wasnt totally referring to the extension cord i was referring mainly to someone seeing a grow tent outside. if you live in a development with others i think you should just save your money becasuse its a sure bet if you live amongst others it will be found. would you really fell comfortable investing money in lights, pots, fans, soil and all the other things you will need and just leave it outside. all it will take is one kid to find your tent and game over. not only that, how will you discretely tend to your grow, possibly multiple times per week for 3 months or more, and not be seen or raise suspicion? IMO its a prison sentence waiting to happen.

I'm just gonna be an asshole about this because it seems somebody's gonna need to take this role.
This is the most retarded plan I have seen on here yet. Fella do yourself a good favor and read some books. on growing. : )

sorry to be a grave digger, but its better than starting a new post.

i am actually sorta considering the same thing. being that i have a vast amount of space outside with little to no sunlight. has anyone been successful?

Funny to see everyone putting down your idea of putting a tent outdoor, not everyone can put a tent indoors, it may not be the best scenario but let me tell you it definitely works as I have been doing the same thing for three years now and have great success.

Use led light, reverse the day/night and make sure the tent is under the shade and you'll be fine. The downside is it limits the growing season as the temp gets hot during summer, but for me it's great time to switch to outdoors.

It works, do it!

yes!!!.... do not let ppl tell you not to do it! I also grow with a 600 watt light outdoors on a back covered patio with window screen around a 5X6 area. I also don't have the space to grow indoors. my garage is always very humid because of the washer and dryer and also I store my car in there at night so it would be easier to grow in the back with easy access to ventilation. It will be okay once you get use to it and find a strain that agrees with cold temps at night. good luck

Woah. How about this? I'm planning the same thing. You see, I have to supplement lighting outdoors to maintain vegetative growth during out of season growing so I'm going to see about a 110 watt LED veg grow light for 2 plants to top off a day's sunlight inside of a grow tent.

It's really my only option and I'm lucky that there IS an option without having to build a greenhouse.

Its a bad idea, i can see the whole tent set up in the neighbors yard during a strong storm. Forget it.

I had this happen to a to camping tent I had staked in my yard during a wind storm. I didn't get the tent back.

By the way... I found the best LEDs. They're so good they will give you $5,000 if you can prove you grew a better yield with HID. They guarantee at least 2X the yield over HID.

https://www.hydrogrowled.com/LED-Grow-Lights-C7.aspx

Get the more expensive Extreme models and you can switch the wattage going through the bulbs between 0.5, 1 and 3 watts so you can use the same lights to grow babies and whatnot.

Oh and don't go for 5 watt LEDs. I had one company who makes units with them tell me they're only for people too lazy to LST etc their plants and you have to keep the lights a certain distance at all times (as in more so than you normally would worry about with a 3 watt).

Grow Hydro doesn't even deal in 5 watts.
