Poor kids who do everything right don’t do better than rich kids who do everything wrong

Poor kids have the devil they need to defeat before hand because of what gets flashed in front of them since being infants (girls, cars, drugs, money). Poverty makes a difference in the world.

If the tables were turned and self happiness could not be bought on a mental nor physical level, Richie Rich would surely start spraying the poor with death which we all know has occurred on our watch on a consistent basis.
The rich "spray the poor with death"?

Citation please.

Funny how working 2 or 3 jobs cuts into family time eh?
The article never said that was why they spent less time though. I think it would be speculation at best. It is also wrong to assume all poor people work 2 or 3 jobs, the fact remains that a majority of poor people don't work at all. According to the US department of Labor, 10 million people who are considered poor are working. According to the Census Bureau 40 million people in the US are poor. That means only 25% of poor people work any job at all.

If time at work was taking away from time spent with kids, this evidence kind of turns that idea on its head doesn't it? This evidence seems to point out that poor people have an abundance of time to spend with their children, but choose not to.

The census also estimates that 10% of people with full time jobs are also classified as poor.

hey pad

I grew up in a "rich family", my dad's net worth is somewhere between $15-$20 million

He was rarely ever around when I was growing up

Oh and my mom and brother are alcoholics

Care to deconstruct and psychoanalyze me into some sort of statistic to make yourself feel better about your stagnant life?

Your dad being a shitty parent doesn't negate any of the facts presented in the OP

so I should hold him accountable for being a wonderful provider but a "shitty parent" because HIS father died when he was 17

you display the kind of hostility I grew up with, until I learned to sympathize and understand that my parents are human and forgive them for the shortcomings we all have

but I guess I'm privileged because of my dad's worth

which I guess is the reason why people on this forum have teased me for living in my car during hardship periods between employment

What the fuck are you talking about? This has nothing to do with this thread

The point of this thread and many others I post is to illustrate the extreme difference economic classes face in this country. That's it. Many conservatives are in complete denial about this fact and believe everybody gets a fair shot and equal opportunity in the land of the free, which lead to some of their fucked up views on politics, religion, poverty and economic inequality.

The problems you perceive...how would you solve them?

Isn't it ironic that if they'd discovered the "evil, killer negro-weed" they'd probably be in a much better position?

I would improve K-12 education, make it easier for lower classes of people to get secondary education, enact a 28th amendment to the constitution to get money out of politics and kick campaign finance reform into overdrive

pad reminds me of the first few roughnecks I met in the patch, when I perhaps mistakenly told them about my father's wealth

"dude why are you here?"

lol

by the way, my dad grew up in a working class suburb of Philly in a family of 8. After his dad died, he dropped out of school and began working to help his family...never went to college either

according to your statistics, he's an anomaly and so am I
