I've also had the Animal Cookies, Fortune Cookies, Thin Mint Cookies, Platinum GSC and Sherbert Cookies. What I've had has been all over the place in terms of quality but I have had some seriously good strains of this type.
I think it's OG Kush, Durban Poison, and maybe Cherry Pie.
The related types mix out the OG Kush for things like Fire OG (Animal Cookies). They claim there is some F1 plant in it? That is the mysterious one. Having tried both a high quality Durban and Cherry Pie as well and numerous high quality OG Kush and OG Kush crosses I think the mix I quoted is pretty accurate. This hybrid is balanced w/ the Durban and OG being strong polar opposites and the Cherry Pie also has Durban in it which makes me think it needs another indica to balance it out.
There is OG Kush in Chem Dawg so maybe that is what really ties this together on that solid 50/50 indica / sativa effect you get w/ GSC. Here is an interesting article about it's origins in High Times:

and than they post the same articles for the next 10 years on facebook just recycling them. They have some of the worst journalists / editors that I have ever seen. High Times is a company that requires you to sponsor them in order for you to get benefits. Every cup we had the booth spot we wanted we won best booth best sativa best indica and I wonder why lolol.
All the dudes on the judges panels all know each other and they work together to push certain companies to the next level while leaving others under the radar. I find it even more funny that they create offshoots of seed companies to distribute all their extra seeds and then make another seed company.
My prime example is DNA (shared genetics with RP/ old seed stock) ---->>> Reserva Privada California (the two running this went to) ------->>> Elemental Seeds
Exactly. I remember an article in there a while back about the origins of OG and Bubba Kush where this johnny come lately guy from Colorado was claiming he had discovered them. The photos weren't even Bubba or OG!

Craziest thing happened tonight I went to a new dispensary right before it closed and they told me they hired on one of the growers from the cookies family. I can't remember his name I'm not into all that but they had a picture of him on the wall too. They also told me they got the info on all the genetics. Funny thing is I didn't say a thing about it. He brought up the F1 and said some stuff I had no clue what he was talking about. So needless to say this place should be offering some pretty nice flowers.
Obviously I wont know until I see the goods but what I got so far is pretty promising!

. I could be totally wrong but in my cynical head thats the first thing I think of when I see a grower thats supposed to be hot shit working at a hydro store or dispensary.

Interesting that your photos of "GSC" look nothing like the "GSC" I saw. Yours is from CC? The GSC I saw from Dr. Greenthumb looked way more Indica with chunky purplish golf ball buds.

I agree with you. She shares some characteristics, but overall does not look like the clone-only. She grew like a typical OG with the viney like structure, and has the curled, single bade leaves coming out of the buds. All of the lower branches have the nice golf-ball buds. She was topped and trained, and the 4 mains definately do not resemble A straight OG.... More like just a kush
*But GSC dominate or not, i am very happy with the overall quality that she is showing

That is actually a false theory, most people that work at the collective I was working with were also growers. The price to live is a little harsh out here so unless your bringing in 5-10 lbs every 2 months you really do need a separate job. Most people get the job at the dispensary to get an in for vending only to find out that if their shit isn't good enough it wont hit the shelves.If his flowers were all that he wouldnt be taking a job at a dispensary

You need a lot of money to own a dispensary in this state and they put quite a bit of money into their facility. The owner told me they spent more on their genetics than most places here do on their entire grow operation. So maybe they are just investing in trying to be the best and they paid him well. I'm not going to vouch for him just yet but the guy didn't seem to be BSing me. Also just the timing w/ this and everything being discussed it was an interesting experience. Hope it turns out!

Nope, never was clone only. I use to go to the Bay specifically for my cookies a little over 2 years ago. Seeds have been around at least before then and cookie family is definitely legit. I had two sources one in Oakland and one in Haight Ashbury, both said if it didn't come from Berner and crew it wasn't legit. The number was 32 at the time and this was before all of the different cuts started popping up. Cookies has always been okay, but nothing special to me except for the terpene profile, which is hella unique! Cherry Pie imo is the superior strain. With that said, I'm running Sincity's Platinum Delights (I avoid the Forum Cut and it's hybrids...just me). I have like 6-7 girls (i think) out of a 12 pack and them bitches are all over the place pheno wise lol. Smells dank, but I only have the topped plants in solo cups flowering, while their clones veg out. Should be interesting to compare mine to other platinum gsc pics when I throw them in flower.
