I use API tap water conditioner from Petco. Sodium thiosulfate is the active ingredient for breaking down chloramine.

k i read the whole thread until about the mid 140 page range. seemed to gather all that was needed by that point the rest seemed to be flaming one another and repeat information for the most part.

wanted to say thanks again for the tea recipe. I've been using it in veg and my roots are looking great. My conditions are stable, res temps are always at 70, and i run RO water, dutch master A+B, DM silica, and add.27.
i brew my tea with simply 2 gallons of ro water, a handful of ancient forest alaska humus, a dash of molasses, and a teaspoon of mycogrow.

i did find that adding rhizotonic to the res (not to the tea) did great for boosting root growth.

i also did find that its best NOT to add tea to cloners (bubble cloners/aero cloners) until after roots are beginning to show. i found that using tea before that point lead to a higher rate of stem rot. its best to just run tap water and a drop of chlorine while rooting.

my tea never gets frothy except for right after i add the mycrogrow. but it works fine. i add 1 cup per 5 gallons once a week, and i only change res every 2-4 weeks (just depends when the plant tells me its time). never have any smell, never have any problems. i do have a little bit of biofilm deposit on the bottom of my res, and my airstones in my brewing container are always covered in bioflim slime. i dont sterilize after every brew, i just rinse quickly with hot water.

If in doubt about your tap water, lit it sit in bucket for day or 2 to minimise chlorine levels .. even better add airstone...also read somewhere that molases can nulify the effects of chlorine...

i started off at first using regular tap water. and it worked ok except for i had to use a TON of ph down. in my 5gal res i had to use about nearly 200 drops of AN ph down. to get it down to about 5.6. i decided to grab an RO filter, now in my 5gal i only need to add about 7 drops of PH down. and i dont have to use any ph down in flower, the nutrients get it right at the 5.5-5.8 range.

Heisenberg, I have to thank you, I think :)

Just wanted to let you know I have been battling slime for weeks now and I just sterilized, redesigned, and added some tea(Ancient Forest and Great White). Things appear to be slime free and looking great. I will post some pics later! My question is what should I do with the lava rocks?! I used some lava rocks in the brew, and I put some in the res, and some in my buckets. I have another batch of tea goin and I put some more lava rocks in there, but should I leave the old ones in the res or should I swap them out? Thoughts?

The effects of H. Tea on my plants (that I can notice when comparing to previous hydro attempts and soil grows) =
1- approximately a month in hydro without slime (before H tea I wasn't able to even keep a res longer than 2-3 days without having to change it and clean it up).
2- pearly white roots with lots of side branching.
3- vigorous growth in the roots and foliage
And more

Hi, I have a question regarding using a water chiller with beneficials. I have heard some people say that higher temps are better and some people say lower temps are better for beneficial bacteria. I have bought a chiller and would like some advice on what the optimal temp is. Should I keep it at 68? Or a little higher? Or even a little lower. Help me out! :) Thanks.

Hey dude
The man himself recommends low to mid 70s for bennies. Too high a temp will give you a problem with the DO. And too low a temp will render the bennies ineffective!
My res temp stays between 71-72 without a chiller.

yo Sidewing thanks. Did you notice any increase or decrease in harvest, slime or anything other than PH

Molasses binds to chlorine so add it first wait 30 mins then add the rest with no ill affects ;)
