Willing doctors near Burlington, ON

Hey everyone, I'm new to this forum so apologies if this is the wrong section.

Basically, I've been seeing a psychologist for the last few years for a number of mental problems, mostly severe anxiety, ADD, and depression. I decided to talk with him about marijuana for medical purposes, but he wouldn't have any of it.

Now to be completely honest, I don't want to see another psychologist. I personally like this guy, and he does a damn good job of prescribing pills. I guess he just doesn't like the idea of medicinal marijuana.

I'm looking for something like a walk-in clinic. I'm not quite sure they exist for this, but if there's one or two that'd be great. Hell, I'd go into Toronto if that's what I have to do. I'm pretty determined to get legal, because I know from experience that marijuana helps me a lot as an anti-anxiety medication, and a pain reliever from the numerous concussions that I've had(chronic headaches are a result of the concussions for me).

I have some money to spend, but I'd rather not drop $500 on getting a script or a license for marijuana, seriously. I know that Cannabis Advocates(Hamilton? I don't remember) charges like ~$350 or something to get referred, and that's kind of ridiculous.

The reason I'm looking for a walk-in clinic is my anxiety.. I don't want to have to sit down with a psych for an hour every week for a month or two to get this done, right? That would set my anxiety off the walls. I've also heard that some doctors make you take a drug test before seeing you, which is bad for me because I do cannabis currently to help relieve my symptoms. I hate doing it illegally though, which is why I'm doing this all in the first place.

A friend of mine went here - really liked it!

He saw a doctor, paid his money (I can't be sure, but NOT 600 bucks) and got medicine the same day!

Call them first, to see what you need to bring in.

(supporting medical documentation would probably be needed)

Whoa, thanks for the info! I'll definitely check that out. And out of curiosity, because I have no idea how this works, what kind of documentation? Of course, ID, Health card, etc, but are we talking prescriptions and the like? I have all my pill bottles, but I don't think I have my prescriptions anymore.

Damn, nevermind. It says on their website that I have to get my medical practitioner to sign, which is what I'm looking for in the first place. I'll check these guys out after I get that done though, it looks pretty neat.

Call them. Some places have doctors on site that will prescribe, or at least they might be able to point you in the right direction!

I live in Thunder Bay. No such places here. But if there were - I WOULD HAVE GONE!

I would have used my old prescription bottles. I could have gotten a "crazy note" or whatever they give from my old psychologist.

Honestly, it might be easier when you see a random doctor to tell them you suffer from anxiety and are already using med marihuana, and you simply want to become legal.

The question is, do you want to sign up for an LP or a compassion club/dispensary?

It's easier to get them to sign for an LP, but better for you to get it off a club.

There is a thread made a couple months ago titled "has anyone got their papers signed by this doctor?"

See him, and you will get signed probably. It is the same as doctor as you would get from cannabis advocates, and they do not actually make a referral..so you would have the exact same chances...

I love the Chinese medicine doctor idea, that's pretty hilarious/genius. To be honest though, I'm looking more in the direction of an LP. I just like the idea of having something like Tilray or Canna Farms online.
So I basically just go to a random doctor with the required forms for which ever LP I'm looking at, give some proof of my conditions, and it should be done fairly quickly? I didn't know it was that easy.

And on a different note, how do I go about "liking" some of these replies. Kind of a dumb question but where is this like button that I'm not seeing?

Haha, I read that first as "since your in burlington I would calm down" and I was like "oh ok". Does C.A.L.M have doctors on site? I was on their website and I actually called them, and they told me go google doctors in my area(which I couldn't find decent reviews of). Thanks for the reply though

No they dont.

You understand you dont need a doctor to say "Mitchyl needs medical marijuana for blah blah" ? you just need a doctor to give you a note/diagnosis that you have a symptom marijuana relieves...doc really doesnt need to know its for mmj but i like to keep mine in the loop BUT if you feel your having a issue with access, get the note for work ;p

Like for example, on CALMs website, they have specific forms that go something like "My patient __ has my approval for ____" or whatever. You can just have a note that says "My patient ____ has been diagnosed with_____"? Because I already have a couple of those for work..

I think it's 50/ 100 posts or 2 days here - I think. Not positive though - but your "me likey" button will come.

With the LP procedure - you do. You print off a form from one of their websites, your doctor fills it out, they send it off and then medicine online.

Do you have lots of money? Who says you can't do both?
