High watt veg + low watt flower

I have some Lucky Charms a month into veg. They spent 3 weeks outside (sunlight) and are sporting preflowers and 3-4 apical nodes each.

I am currently flowering them under a single 22 watt CFL very close to the plants.

So would anyone like to illuminate the situation? Will these well vegged healthy plants with top shelf nutes and roots yield any flowers under the 22 watt?

I may get a 45 degree LED spot light 1500 Lumens. I dont want a pound I just want a crop for my cat to watch over

Quick answer: Of course you will got flowers!

Long answer: they may stretch out, take all the energy from current leaves to create flowers and then...

Nothing!

Based on my understanding: If you really need to save some power: save it in veg (ensuring right plant structure) and at the very end of flowering (last week).

Sorry if this is not the answer you were looking for.

Those LED's you suggest wouldn't hurt.

yes u can flower with it .....but u will only get a few grams if that......buy a 250 watt cfl and flower it under that...u will get something decent to smoke from it......I cant get my head around why people flower with cfls...there just not good enough to to be flowering with..hope this helps

You don't need a lot of light despite what people will tell you (if your not looking for a killer harvest).

But with that said 22w will not cut it with a full sized plant. I once grew a nice plant with one 23w cfl but it was a micro plant grown inside a pc tower. Where the one cfl was enough light to significantly illuminate the plant. I got 10 grams dry this is small but I considered a success for a micro plant in a computer the light bounced around in that small space easily as the walls were lined with mylar.

I would recommend getting at least 5 cfls you already have one so 4 more they are cheap and you can go to home depot and get the plug in sockets. They are dirt cheap the 4 lights and the sockets shouldn't cost more than 30 dollars and if thast is still to much lots of times you can find spare bulbs around the house just make sure they are 2700k for flower. Take the five and spread them around the plant one one the top and 4 on four sides.so the light is spread then you will get atleast an ounce trick is to put it in a confined place with reflective material to maximize your limited light resource.

oh and you can make great cfl reflectors using pop cans cut around the neck/rim leave about a cm uncut then split the can down the length and do the same cut as the top rim to the bottom rim. spread the flap you just created and bam just slid the cfl through and crazy glue or glue gun it on turn her on and light is directed in one main direction.

Thats a neat hack!

Look everyone: the cree spot led generates 1500 lumens at only 18 true watts. It comes in a 45 degree and a 27 degree focus. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Cree-90W-Equivalent-Bright-White-3000K-PAR38-47-Degree-Flood-Dimmable-LED-Light-Bulb-BPAR38-1503047T-12DE26-1U100/205184900?N=5yc1vZbol.

If I angled 4 of these spotlights and or flood lights directly at a plant, I could achieve 6000 lumens with 72 watts of cool running bulbs that take less than a square foot in space.

If you used 6 or 8 you could fit them in a circle around the top of the plant and achieve12000 lumens. BAM

led's should not be measured in lumen's that is a inadequate means of measuring the effectiveness of that light source. Led's are measured in PAR and just as important is the led's set wavelengths.

Your energy intake has to match an energy output that will get you buds. 1) Your soil will run out of nutes, 2) Twenty-two watts will not support the plant. I bet if you had a really heavy nutrient schedule you could yield decently; like under an ounce. But I certainly suggest investing in at least a 250w HPS (or go LED, don't care) for your flowering plants.

Then you have never flowered with CFL's or never done it correctly.

I use two 55 watters and pill 2 zips (dry) per plant with certain strains.
pics of your plants under the 2 55 Watters...cfls are a waist of time ...iv flowered with them .and won't ever do it again...pure shit they are...

I would love to try HPS but my budget doesn't allow it and I would worry with security issues as I'm not in a state that looks the other way...my states biggest money maker is cannabis prohibition.

I hear ya ....i used to be paranoid when I started growing first even with cfls....if you even got a 400 watt hps U be fine with that mate..serious tho if your getting 2 zips under 2 55 watt cfls..imagine what U get under hps...number one rule when growing weed is tell no one...and U will have no problems...happy growing..

What do you think about maybe a 250 watt HPS ?

Cool...I was gonna ask if you thought I would need a cooling tube for the bulb.
