Why can't you just be positive towards a fella using cfls......like you said you have outside, the resources for multiple hps setups, been growing for 9yrs....be a little more encouraging towards a new grower, him and me.I've been doing this for 3yrs....but outside veggies all my life. Please don't make me resort to name calling.......Lol....if everyone was civil towards one another there wouldn't be wars...or something:)

Iv been using my CFLs for 2 months and have seem about $15 change in my bill my buddy uses HPS and said he pays close to 150 more cuz he has to run the a/c fan ballast it was my intent to get HPS but $450 a life cycle I might as well just pay for bud I may one day go to say a 250hps but that is TBD

Everyone has there opinion. I appreciate all the input. Im soaking up all this information like a sponge.

It was my first grow..

CFLs including sockets, wiring, and timer=$50
HPS starter kit is over 100 plus shipping

Im not gonna blow all that money on a HPS for my first grow for it to possibly fail and myself get discouraged.

Now that I kicked my first grows ass Im going to do one more with the CFLs. Then I will upgrade to an HPS. already picked one out.

For small spaces cfls,t5,led is the way to go.Anything over 600w you use an mh/hps.
Remember JackH, with that hps light you will need an exhaust fan and ducting....MORE MONEY...Plus some say replace bulb every 6mth?

yea i dont want to have keep buying a 40 dollar bulb. but if I really can yield that much more from a non auto for a little more money qand increased electric bill. it might be worth it
I've got 400 w metal halide and change to hps for flowering

As long as all the other conditions are met. is 400w enough light to harvest a lb?
ive read a little on Grams Per Watt and it appears 1 gpw is the norm. is this right 400w in grams in 14oz. x

Ok, just spent 30 min reading up on autos. And I call bullshit on the revegging and the 2.5 lbs off 1 plant. Dude must have weighed the plant, pot, and dirt it was in to get that weight.

i think ur cousin wasent useing it right at all yeah cfl grows can be done ofc they can but there is way better options out there then cfl
Taking advice from a guy who writes like a 3rd grader is risky business.

"I think your cousin wasn't using it right at all. Yeah, cfl grows can be done, of course they can but there are way better options than cfl."

Instead of wasting your time pissing all over someone's thread, go read a book.
