Apache AT600 led vs 1000w HPS Blue Dream Grow

It's time to get this show on the road. The side by side between the AT600 led and a 1000w hps. Led tech is not something of the future, it's here now and that is what I'm trying to show this round...I never said it's cheap. I had a great run last round with just the at600. It impressed me a lot and as usual, the quality was world class. Yield was good(503g), but this round I WILL push that up as far as I can. I could say this or that about why things were how they were, but the only way to know for sure, is to do them(led and hps) at the same time and see what the grower(me in this case) makes of each. I was a 1000w guy before I switched to led's 4 years ago, so it's not my first rodeo with either lights. I will be trying to max out the potential

Up till the flip(4days ago) the all 12 plants were together/unseparated being vegged in 1gallons by 1(for 5days), 2(for 10days), and 3(for 14days), AT120's. And were transplanted to the 5gallons on day 12 in there.

So here is the setup and plan for flower
There is a light divider separating two 4x4 spaces. One will be lit by the 1000hps and the other by the apache at600. Pretty simple, the only difference in the grow will be the light source so we will get to see for real, if an led of lesser wattage than it's hps counterpart can match it's performance.

Plants
- 12 Blue Dream clone only's(6 per light)
Lights- Apache AT600 led, 1000hps(Hortilux super hps on a solis tek ballast in a raptor hood)
Space- 7.5Wx11Lx7H room but only about 4x8 being used this grow...two 4x4 sections.
Medium/containers- 50%/50% mix of "organic gourmet 420 mix" soil and black gold pure coco in 5 gallon G-lite fabric pots
Nutrients- General Organics basic line(Grow, Bloom and CalMg) plus grow more seaweed extract. And alternate with Boogie Brew "vegainc compost tea"(kind of an oxymoron).
Ventilation/humidity- 6" value inline(a little on the loud side) with a Phresh filter constantly cooling@70%ish(102w) while lights on. Dehumidifier when lights off.

Day 3 is the first flower update...

Updates weekly(hopefully more often). I also have the veg full video documented too, just follow the video to youtube and they are all there.

Nice!

That hid side just seems so bulky and even feels like more energy is being used.

Have you you ever looked into ROLS organics?

Both sides are looking great. I'm stoked to see this play out. Are you going to be keeping the same distance between canopies and lights throughout the whole grow, or let them get closer as they stretch?

Nice work bruv...

Just a question... how are you going to manage the feeding regimes of both sides....? They will be quite different wont they?

This is probably one of the most interesting/important comparison grows on riu...................top gear on both sides/high yielding strain/CLONES/pro grower. Good luck GG!

subbed to this for sure........I know which side will hit 1gpw+

Who cares about GPW? If theApache is supposed to match/replace 1000 watt hps it needs to yield as much/more than the hps. If the hps yields 1oz more, then the Apaches power savings and higher GPW are obsolete. The side with the higher yield will be the better light, whatever side that may be.

I care about gpw

But thats not all I care about lol

Any differences would likely skew the results.
Have you ran LEDs? Im assuming you do soil?

There are natural differences in the uptake/osmositic process (whatever) under different sources, 1.) (proven) Higher IR levels under HID cause higher levels of transpiration==more WATER uptake, not neccesarily nutes- but who knows-...... o, the plants. :) 2.) It is speculated (im not sure it has been quite proven..) that when you supply the specific peaks and wavelengths required for "maximum absorption" in the Chloro A+B peaks along with caretenoids in excess (or right amount.. again, who knows....), that the plants do not have to work as hard to get what it wants.

So I think it will be inevitable, acceptance is the first step,...

And I think GreenGenes is trying to level the playing field as best he can by 1.) running in the same room, 2.) monitoring Temps from both sides trying not to neglect one or the other. 3.) He could have chosen to put a damn 1k in a wing and let itself figure out the cooling- but no, I respect the fact that he is making it a point to keep things as suitable for each area as possible.

Just wanted to point out there are going to be some things you just cant control.

G Ive been subbed since the first post, both of my most anticipated threads started in the same night.. woop woop! be safe brother!
