Now that is some fishing GWN!! How long did it take to reel that sucker in?? What kind of bait where you using??
Billfishing is a boat game - a good captain can put a fish on the stern in mere minutes if necessary. You can literally "legally" catch a sail in about 2 minutes or less in a tournament situation (its a numbers game), but we typically took less than 10 minutes to finish the deed.
Bait was keel rigged ballyhoo fished on a harness with a circle hook (which avoids gut/gill hooking the fish).
BTW, 1st day trolling netted 6 Dorado in the 30-40 lb range, 6 sailfish releases and one 350 lb blue marlin (also released).
2nd day we released 14 sails.

Blazzed to fuck ...I once went fly fishing was a real good thing until I hooked a fish ...then it went real wrong real fast, I nearly drowned, wearing big rubber boots, I made such a scene that peeps come from miles around, nearly got busted ...to to embarrassed ...if I smoke and fish now ...I use no hook, but sit back of the raft ...enjoying the life ....lol .....lesson learned !!!

On my local rivers,smallmouth bass, walleye and of course cats! Channel cats are cool but I became addicted to flatheads few years back .. 51" 60# 5 years ago,he was hungry and ate a 9" bullhead.
