oh, i think i might have read that article on jstor once. it sounds cool, but im not too convinced. i cant go back and look at it now cause i dont have a jstor membership anymore. im almost tempted to try it, but i'm pretty sure it would just stress the plants. does anybody know if carbon monoxide is poisonous to plants like it is to animals? i dont think they use it for anything so i dont really understand why it would make a difference.

if a female plant has the XX chromosome, and a male plant has XY chromosome wont a female that turned hermie have the male flowers with XX chromosomes? So when it pollinates itself, it'll produce seeds with the XX gene. this would explain why i've heard people saying that seeds from hermie plants are 100% female. and this would be true if seeds really are predetermined, right?

i got a proberlm .... i bought sum feminised seeds from doggynuts seed bank ... in the first week of flower all the female pistons appeared like normal .... but now i can see male pollen sacks formin towards the top .... could these be new female grow spots that are waitin to sprout..... or has my plants gone cross gender

they're probably just calyx's waiting to pop the pistils out. just wait and you'll see.

when should i strart using grow ferts for seelings? i'll be using earth juice grow, and the plants are under a 400w hps (no cfl's or fluos, low budget at the moment). The seedlings have only sprouted a week ago and are only a few inches tall, but they look healthy enough.. i'm just wondering when i should start the fertilizing, only after the first transplant or so, or right away??

don't fertlilze until the little rounded leaves fall off those things have enough ferts in it to get it through like two weeks, when they've fallen off go easy on the nutes do them at a quater strength with a fertilizer high in nitrogen every week go upin the amoht of nutrients u use when they start flowering go with a fert high in P and k add at half strength he first 2 weeks then got full blast

For you potential breeders out there, you should not follow these rules as any (would-be)males that change to female because of enviromental condition may have the hermaphroditic gene and should not be used with breeding, for my non-breeding tomatoe plant moms tho i folow those rules to a "T".
